Solzhenitsyn: I avoid exactly that which your question implies: I do not call for any sort of scorekeeping or comparisons between the moral responsibility of one people or another; moreover, I completely exclude the notion of responsibility of one nation towards another. All I am calling for is self-reflection.
In his book the Gulag Archipelago, there was a fellow prisoner in the gulag that the narrator, Shukov talks about with great zeal. He was a Christian who stated he was happier in prison than at any other time in his life because it brought him closer to Christ. He said something to the effect of : “All the depravations and suffering make him able to block out the outside diversions and focus on love of Christ, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc.
Every time I would read these types of statements in his book it would sicken me. What a depressing thought to be grateful to the people who are literally staving you and your extended family in these forced labor camps in the Arctic cold. It’s incomprehensible to me.
Solzhenitsyn is Christian to the bone and his reluctance to name the jew is so typically Christian too and a glaring weak point. The problem is not mainly the government, it’s always about the human condition and never the condition by brought about by the non human jew.
Chistianity is insanity. It’s a crutch. It’s a weakness our enemies exploit.
Why are there so many Solzhenitsyn’s and so little Hitler’s out there?
