Metzger Discusses ATF Raid On His Home

Tom Metzger, director of the White Aryan Resistance, said in a phone interview this morning that federal agents searched his home because of a bombing that took place in 2004.

According to Metzger, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives officers searched his residence on Ferguson Road in Warsaw Thursday morning because of the recent arrest of twin brothers Dennis and Daniel Mahon.

According to the Los Angeles Times, an indictment stated the Mahon brothers intended to “promote racial discord” on behalf of the White Aryan Resistance by sending a bomb to a building in Scottsdale, Ariz.

The bomb detonated in the hands of Don Logan, a diversity director. Logan and another person were injured.

The Mahons were arrested at their home in Davis Junction, Ill.

“I’ve known them for years,” said Metzger of the Mahons. “I’ve talked to them on the phone, but it was usually about the weather or their invalid mother.

“Anyone who calls me and mentions bomb, I hang up the phone,” said Metzger, who also said he disagreed with bombings.

During the search, Metzger said he sat on the patio of his home until police said he could leave and they would call his cell phone if they needed anything.

“We went to breakfast and just hung out downtown,” said Metzger. Metzger described the ATF agents as “polite” compared to police who raided his California home in 1991.

Metzger said a computer and address books were taken from his home.

Metzger, who hosts an Internet radio show, said he plans to have another broadcast Saturday.

The raid, which took place just before 9 a.m. Thursday, took about two hours.

ATF officials conducting the raid Thursday declined to comment on the nature of the search, saying only that it came as a result of sealed court documents from the US Attorney’s Office in South Bend. US Attorney’s Office officials also declined comment.

I heard Turner’s phone message from the Essex County Jail today. The Evil Empire has only had him in custody for 2 or 3 days and he’s already on the verge of a massive breakdown. It was disturbing to hear the guy pleading for money and mercy. I like to think I wouldn’t crack like that if captured by the enemy, but you don’t know until it happens. But then again, he had a lot more to lose than I would.

I have mixed feelings about Turner because he was one of those right-wing Christian Identity types who arrogantly refused to have anything to do with pro-White atheists, agnostics and socialists. Now he might have to pay dearly for alienating so many potential supporters. On the flip side, he and his family have had to put up with years of death threats, harassing phone calls and intimidating visits from the police, all because Turner had a small-budget, one hour weekly short-wave and Internet talk show. I watched the podcast someone put up on the forums and Tom said they were looking for things related to the arrest of the Mahon bros and any conspiring between them. He says there is nothing to find.
