Yes, I have seen the “carbuncle” of which the Prince speaks in the priceless dry humour of the British , and he is most certainly correct.
The carbuncle is the Tate Museum of Modern Art. Inside are pictures of a most despairing nature. In one room, presided over by a museum official to keep out minors, are “paintings” of a masturbating man, who is also pummelling himself at the same time. The anterior room of the masturbatrium is “adorned” with “paintings” of females with pudenda prominently displayed.

“Lord” Norman Foster’s buildings are actually worthy, but Gehry’s are total junk.

I had the unfortunate experience of visiting the Tate Gallery in 1994 on an overseas study trip to England. At the time, I was young and really didn’t know much. Even then, I suspected that something was amiss when we had to have a tour guide take us around the place and explain to us what the so-called art was supposed to represent. Now that I’m older, I believe that most “modern” art is garbage and I’m almost embarrassed that I ever set foot in the Tate Gallery.

Prince Charles is showing (to cite the good Prof. MacDonald) his implicit racialistic side, his affinity to kith, kin and whatever else – but he needs to grow a pair and become more EXPLICIT – after all, it was the cowardly Royal Family who allowed all these aliens into Britain. Note the owner of the architectural site is some Arab Sheik.

Justin, I felt the same way about the Tate.
Before I even went in, my family and I took the Thames river cruise with the guide pointing out famous buildings.
As we passed the Tate, he said, “Over here we have the Tate Museum of Modern Art. The admission is absolutely nothing . . . which is about what it is worth.”
That was brilliant.
I saw only a couple of things I liked.
I could not help but mark the contrast between the overwhelming solemnity and devout attitude of St. Paul’s, and the banality of the Tate.
