Liberals are big on privacy vis-a-vis government snooping on citizens. So why did they reauthorize the Fourth-Amendment-violating “USA PATRIOT Act”? Because their commitment to Israel outweighs their commitment to the public:

I have a vivid memory of Governor George Wallace making the statement, there’s not a dime’s worth of difference between the Republican and Democratic parties, while campaigning for president in 1968. I do not, however, know if he borrowed it from Senator Goldwater, but I doubt it.

Gee, I wonder if the Tea Partiers will address the injustice of the Patriot Act? After all, they are all about Freedom, Liberty, Defending the Constitution etc. Har har.

Waldo, you’re right, it was George Wallace who said that, not Goldwater. I was thinking about that phrase “extremism in the defense of liberty” that Goldwater used. But he was quoting Cicero. Jews can’t come up with anything original.
