Beautiful.
This depicts the ideal, beautiful and noble. We break away from the ‘What is’ to the ‘What can be – What should be’. Isn’t that how our people should live more as than we do today?

Modern for his day perhaps, Dutch, but nicely old-fashioned by today’s hideous standards. After enjoying a sampling of a few of his masterpieces, I don’t see much too modern in it.
In terming something modern, I not only take that to indicate what technical approach is employed in creating art- as in the type of brush stroke used, but more profoundly, what the moral and psychological intent of the artwork is. Looking at what’s been afoot in the ‘art’ world the past several generations, I see more a mental and emotional problem than I do a creative or talent problem.
The difference here is this: Today’s artists couldn’t often paint a work as Constable could even if they desperately wanted to. Constable could never have brought himself to mimic modern art becuase he wouldn’t have wanted to.
We’ve often heard that ‘Art is in the eye of the beholder’, but art is also from the soul of the artist. And today’s breed of ‘artists’ are a pretty souless bunch.

If Constable were alive today he would probably quit being an artist out of disgust by what modern “art” has become.
Or maybe he would toil away in obscurity or possibly he would whore out and buy a monkey to create his critically acclaimed putridness.
My money would be on him being depressed by it all and quitting. What a sad corrupted world we who see the truth must endure.

After studying more of Constable’s fine art work, I am coming to appreciate how he can be considered one of the founders of modern art. To understand what I mean, look at just these 3 samples of his works:
-Stonehenge
-Study of Five Horned Cattle
-Study of a Leaping Horse.

Off-topic a bit, but to contribute to the growing cultural potential of VNN, I’ll direct readers to this site of ‘modern’ photography. It is almost entirely amorphic, but intense contrasts of color and shape patterns create the allure. I enjoyed it.

Tim, your examples of fine jew art are too funny. lol
I just bought several old magazine Coke ads from the 40′s and 50′s because they show attractive, thin White men and women as we used to be in this country. I’m going to have them matted and framed and hang them in my house where I can enjoy what I remember from my childhood long ago.
It’s getting so that I can only find comfort in antique stores where the music is old and White, and so are the objects. As a matter of fact, so are the people!
I find no comfort anywhere, anymore, in this strange world.
