Politics: Proportional Representation

PR is a good idea: don’t you want to choose between more than just two political parties? Another idea is to not send “professional politicians” to Washington every few years via voting, but to instead select federal politicians like they select grand juries: from a pool of ordinary citizens. Give the members of the pool basic instructions for the creation of laws (as if we need any more laws), and they’ll do just fine – better than the idiots in Washington now (most of whom are former lawyers who work for special-interest groups).

The Federal government and electoral process is criminal (Gore vs Bush – Florida). Besides, all the candidates are pre-approved before you make it to the voting booth. Voting is for suckers who still believe the dream, whatever it is.

      We need better leadership.

However, ordinary people do not have good leadership skills. We need to promote the natural leaders of our society. People who want to lead, who understand the key problems, and how to solve them.

We need a wider variety of leaders, too. Our laws are so complicated and opaque that only lawyers feel competent to run for public office. We need scientists, and business professionals; generally people from varied backgrounds to provide new viewpoints and represent the people better.
