Also, it is interesting that Shamir’s enemies have cast doubt on whether he’s a Jew. They use clever language such as “Shamir claims to have been born into a Jewish family but…” Maybe his enemies, who are no doubt angry that a Jew says such things, can explain why Shamir has had Israeli citizenship for 50 years and served in the Israeli army…).
