The media always applauds “the first” queer, woman, Black, Mexican, etc. to join this or that group/organization. Now it’s the first openly “gay” NBA basketball player who is being celebrated by the media, as if it’s an important victory over the Evil White Heterosexual Male Establishment that always oppresses “The Other.” [Article].
