"If it's so dangerous here," I asked, "why don't you take your gun?"
"Because kids operate in packs of five or six. Twelve and thirteen-year olds, they rush you and take whatever you have, and are gone before you even have time to react. That's how quick they are. And we don't need another automatic weapon on the streets."

Today marks the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth in Salzburg, Austria. At 12 noon EST, WQXR, the classical radio station of the New York Times, will broadcast live from Salzburg's Grosses Festspielhaus the gala birthday celebration, featuring the Vienna Philharmonic led by Riccardo Muti, and a stellar group of guest soloists.
These festivities will be broadcast throughout Austria and Germany and within earshot of Germar Rudolf, Ernst Zündel and in Vienna, David Irving. All of these men are in jail.
What must they think, as Europe wears its cultural patrimony on its sleeve, this day? Europe, together with America and Canada, presumes to be the pedagogue to the world, emissary to mankind, and liberal cant notwithstanding, still bears the white man's burden of civilizing and cultivating the Third World masses.
Reality is a construct based on the direction of our attention. Today we are not supposed to smell the stink of a Europe that can celebrate the exquisite music of the Enlightenment figure Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, while locking up three revisionist writers whose "crimes" were all committed with a pen.
Of course, Europe has been stinking for a long time and I say this despite the fact that I am an admirer of the quality that Europe exhibits in comparison with an America awash in shoddy manufactured goods from China, and junk food from the factory farms of the Midwest. I love the clothes and the food of the Europeans, but still I must plug my nostrils in the midst of it all. The Europeans are people who have refused to reproduce themselves since at least the 1970s. Their birthrate is negative. They are the captains of their own Titanic; volunteers for their own Inferno.
While Europe congratulates itself on its good taste and classical music heritage, I am thinking of Europe's prisoners of conscience and of some way to memorialize them above the masonic strains of the Magic Flute.
I do not as yet have the means to advertise on Euro-TV, or to take out a full page advertisement in a Viennese or Berlin newspaper, assuming they would accept my ad. I have instead sent Europe a wake-up call in the form of a videogram, that can be watched anywhere on earth where there is an Internet connection.
This videogram is titled, "Deborah Lipstadt, 'Amalek' and David Irving." It is only some thirty-five minutes in length, but in that time the mask of humanity and benevolence is lifted from the inquisitor general, from the inciter, the persecutor.
Prof. Lipstadt says she wants Irving freed. Perhaps, but why? Because she empathizes with his plight, stands for freedom of speech, opposes the new inquisition?
The answer is none of the above. Like D.D. Guttenplan in the Los Angeles Times (cf. Revisionist History Newsletter no. 39), Lipstadt fears that Irving will be made into a martyr and it is on the basis of that fear alone that she has gotten around to reluctantly assenting to his release.
Refresher course for amnesiacs: Prof. Lipstadt, the Dresden holocaust denier, who questions the veracity of the testimony of German survivors of the Allied firebombing holocuast, strongly implied in the pages of New York's "Forward" newspaper, that the German girls in their long braids and the little German boys in their short pants, got what they deserved when Bomber Harris and his American partners in mass murder, burned the citizens of Dresden in an orgy of sadism and savagery that rivals any imaginable horror.
And what of "Amalek"? You will have to watch my videogram to learn about him. And if you can bestir yourself out of complacency and the over-stimulation represented by the hundreds of titillating Internet spectacles beckoning to you every waking moment of your day, long enough to recommend "Deborah Lipstadt, 'Amalek' and David Irving," to a few of your contacts, cumulatively we might then comprise an audience worthy of the name, that will this day light a candle for the three writers who rot in the dungeons of Europe, forgotten by a Europe so far gone in decadence that it has been left to the leader of Persia, ancient nemesis of the Greek cradle of our nearly extinct polis, to single-handedly call attention to the injustice of their torment.
There is darkness in the world, but it is better to light one candle than to curse the darkness, and thanks to the two-edged sword that is modern technology, that cuts both ways--for and against this System of things-- through the wizardry of the juvenile sounding "Google," I have been able to light a video candle that has the potential to be visible all over the world, so that Austria will not be allowed to throw a self-congratulatory party unspoiled by the little fact that it holds one of the giants of historiography in chains, together with similar shameful circumstances meted out to Germar Rudolf and Ernst Zündel in their native Germany.
Who murdered Mozart? Who is assassinating the soul of Europe?
How long will revisionist writers languish in dungeons in the 21st century, even as their jailers issue pompous directives to Syria and Iran concerning the pressing need for democracy and reform in those nations?

A black man fooled the Klan, joined the ranks

And now, here's this week's episode of Great Moments In Black History.
The year is 1979. Carter is in office, disco is on the radio, and Ron Stallworth has just joined the Ku Klux Klan.
We are indebted to the Deseret Morning News of Salt Lake City for revealing this in an article earlier this month commemorating Stallworth's retirement from the Utah Department of Public Safety. Since then, the story has made MSNBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Company, and blogs from here to eternity.
And if you're wondering why the fuss, well ... it's not every day a black man becomes a Klansman.
The story goes as follows: In '79, Stallworth was an intelligence officer with the Colorado Springs police, tasked with gathering information on subversive groups. One day he sees a classified ad: the KKK is forming a chapter and looking for members. So he calls.
''This guy answered the phone,'' he told me last week in a telephone interview. ``I told him I saw the ad and was interested. He asked me why. I told him I was a pure blooded Aryan white man. I told him I was a victim of the Zionist Occupied Government because of ZOG's preference for mud people, meaning blacks or anybody that's not considered pure blood.''
BUZZWORDS OF HATE
Stallworth's deft use of the buzzwords of hate excited the Klan man who was, in his day job, a soldier at nearby Fort Carson. The two made plans to meet. Stallworth gave a physical description of himself, accurate except for the minor matter of melanin. After he got off the phone, he recruited a colleague who matched his description -- except for the minor matter of melanin -- and sent him in.
It worked. Ron Stallworth filled out his application, paid his dues, became a Klansman. Some snafu delayed his membership card, though, so Stallworth went to the top to get it straightened out. ''I called David Duke,'' he said.
Within days, Stallworth had his card, which he still carries. He says he handled Klan business by phone, sending in the white cop when face-to-face meetings were required. For a year, he said, he and Duke spoke once or twice a week. Once, Stallworth asked Duke if he wasn't afraid of being infiltrated by undercover cops, or maybe some smart-aleck black man posing as white.
'He said, `No, I'm not concerned about that because I can always tell when I'm talking to a nigger.' I said, 'How?' He said, 'The way they pronounce certain words or letters. Niggers tend to say the word `are,' they say 'are-uh.' That's a dead giveaway. I can tell you're an educated white man because you don't talk that way.''
I asked Duke about all this by e-mail. The Klan's former bigot-in-chief, now president of something called the European American Unity and Rights Organization, professed no memory of Stallworth. ''I don't believe we talked much if at all,'' he wrote. The Klan he led, he said, was ''legal and law abiding.'' He points to the fact that Stallworth's investigation produced no arrests as proof.
GATHERING INFORMATION
Stallworth, though, says that as an intelligence officer his aim was not to make arrests, but to gather information. He says his investigation did head off a number of cross burnings. And that two soldiers moonlighting as Klansmen found themselves transferred to cold and distant posts.
Here's the kicker: After a year, Stallworth's Klan contact called with the news that he, too, was being reassigned. He asked Stallworth to lead the chapter ``because I had been a loyal and dedicated member.''
Stallworth promised to get back to him. His bosses promptly shut off the phone, closed the investigation. His career in the Klan was over.

Subject: 1936 Olympics in Berlin
When Berlin was chosen in 1931 to be the site of the next Olympic Games, it was two years before the rise of Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party. As the start of the Games approached, Jews around the world asked for a boycott and in the United States, the proposal was narrowly defeated. The Peoples Olympics was proposed as an alternative with Barcelona, Spain set to play host. However, it was cancelled at the last minute when Civil War broke out the day before the competition was set to begin.
The Games prove to be a showcase for Hitler's Third Reich and his theories of Aryan superiority as Nazi Germany wins more medals than any other country. However, American Jesse Owens embarrasses Hitler by winning four gold medals. In fact, Germany failed to capture a single gold medal in track and field.
Canada sends its largest delegation of athletes to the Olympics, 109, surpassing the number of athletes sent to the Games four years ago. Philip Edwards captures a bronze medal in the 800 metres - his fifth medal in Olympic competition for Canada. Canada's lone gold comes from canoeist Frank Amyot, who had to pay his own way to Berlin in order to compete after Canadian Olympic officials refused.
Basketball made its first appearance as an Olympic sport in Berlin and with Dr. James Naismith in attendance, Canada loses only one game on their way to a silver medal. That silver medal is the last medal ever won by a Canadian team at the Summer Olympics. The victory by the United States over Canada, 19-8 in the final, began a 62 game winning streak by the Americans in basketball.
Thirteen-year-old Marjorie Gestring of the United States won the gold medal in springboard diving and remains the youngest female gold medalist in the history of the Summer Olympics. Inge Sorensen of Denmark earned a bronze medal in the 200-medal breaststroke at the age of 12, making her the youngest medalist ever in an individual event. Hungarian water polo player Olivier Halassy won his third medal despite the fact that one of his legs had been amputated below the knee following a streetcar accident.
The 1936 Games saw the introduction of the torch relay based on an idea by Dr Carl Diem. A lighted torch was carried from Olympia through 7 countries - Greece, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Austria and Germany - to the site of the Games. The Berlin Olympics were also the first to be broadcast on a form of television as 25 large screens were set up throughout Berlin, allowing the local people to see the Games for free.

The United States and Israel accuse Iran of arming and funding militant groups such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad. But Iran says it only gives moral support to the Palestinian groups.

What matters for an understanding of the Israel/Palestine conflict is what the expression 'a Jewish state' would mean to any reasonable person. What, in particular, could the Palestinians reasonably expect when they heard that such a state was to be established in Palestine?
The state itself--the human community--is, everywhere in the world, an absolute dictator bound neither by morality nor by law. Even in the most impeccable democracy, there are ways to institute anything humans can do to one another. Frequently, as in the case of the democratic Weimar Republic of Germany, just invoking emergency legislation is quite enough to open the gates of hell.
For the Zionists to demand a state, any state, was therefore no small thing for anyone--like the Palestinians--falling within its proposed boundaries. But what the Zionists demanded was a Jewish state. Whether this was racism is not of any immediate concern. For one thing, to say that something is racist is not, for many people, immediately to say that it is unjustified: there are those, for instance, who accept affirmative action as 'reverse' racism yet still defend it. For another, the project might have begun as racist yet outgrown its racism by instituting sufficient protections for non-Jews. Or it might not have outgrown it altogether, but exhibited a form of racism that, though reprehensible, was not particularly virulent. It, therefore, does not seem particularly fruitful to examine whether Zionism was racism.
