The cake of forced participation in "first class" mail -- it is illegal to use any other deliverer, and rest assured this pseudo-private company has scads of larries to harrass your ass, fall it afoul of their broad definition -- is iced with forced participation in the charade that the whole thing is a voluntary business transaction.
You know, when you think about it, that's pretty much what defines our AmeriKwan nation, no matter which way you turn: forced participation in a sham. Like the schoolchildren in the bus hijacked by the hopped up jew in "Dirty Harry," we're forced to sing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" at gunpoint, and sound like we mean it. Or else get shot.

Best Potential Story That Could Have Saved "ESPN Hollywood"
On Friday afternoon, Sony invited me and a few other writers to hang out with LeBron as he played NBA '06 on a PlayStation 2, even giving me the chance to play against him. Of course, because we were in Houston and the guy with the PlayStation consoles got caught in traffic for an hour, we ended up watching LeBron play on a PSP for 30 minutes while he halfheartedly answered questions, finally getting up to leave, saying, "Bron Bron has other priorities," before they reminded him that he had to give us 10 more minutes. That was awkward.
With that, he took a seat and loosened up; I actually ended up liking him, although he definitely seems a little full of himself. (Can you blame him?) We learned that he's a "Madden" guy, that he beats up on everyone on the Cavs, that he owns three different iPods, that he "can't go nowhere without my iPod and my cell phone chargers," that he still thinks Detroit and San Antonio are the teams to beat, that he thinks the Cavs can play with anyone and that the toughest guys in the league for him to guard are Paul Pierce and Kobe.
Well, you know me -- I wasn't satisfied with any of these answers. So when someone asked him what other sports he watched, LeBron mentioned that he liked tennis, leading me to make the obligatory "men's or women's?" joke. This was followed by LeBron's making the obligatory frown and saying, "Women's ... I don't like men," and confessing that Maria Sharapova was his favorite player. I joked that he should go after her because they would be America's new power couple, which was followed by LeBron's nodding and saying -- in all seriousness -- "That day might present itself."
(Honestly? LeBron seemed more motivated about landing Sharapova than taking the Cavs to the Finals. And who can blame him? He's now my favorite non-Celtic. I'm that easy.)

THE DISPUTATION: Our Role in Promoting Holocaust Denial

Last month, British historian David Irving was arrested in Austria for the crime of denying the Holocaust. When he goes on trial this February, facing up to a decade in prison, he could become a martyr for antisemitic kooks [Oy, already with the smearing, he's. and this only the first paragraph. Stop with the loxism already, David.] -- kooks like Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
A couple of weeks ago, Ahmadinejad commented that, in Western nations, "if someone were to deny the existence of God... they would not bother him. However, if someone were to deny the myth of the Jews' massacre, all the Zionist mouthpieces and the governments subservient to the Zionists tear their larynxes and scream against the person as much as they can."
Last week the grotesque sentiment was seconded by Mohammed Mehdi Akef, head of the influential Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, who said that "the most serious lie is the Jews' Holocaust, which they have exploited in order to extort global solidarity."
With Jew haters around the globe reaching for this particular slander, from among the ample palate of hurtful things people have said about Jews over the centuries, we might wonder why. Why this libel? Why now? The answer is simple.
Lately we Jews have displayed a weakness for a style of rhetorical overreach in which the Holocaust is deployed as a stick to threaten those whom some of us find objectionable. It should not startle anyone if Jew haters, seeing what a favorite weapon the Holocaust has become, seek to wrestle it out of our hands by denying it ever happened.
Some illustrations:
Last month in Houston, Rabbi Eric Yoffie, leader of the 1.5-million-member Reform movement, compared religious conservatives to Nazis for retaining the idea that marriage is a partnership of a man and woman. Yoffie said, "We cannot forget that when Hitler came to power in 1933, one of the first things that he did was ban gay organizations."
Placing conservative Christians in the same tradition that brought us the Holocaust was a theme already familiar in the statements of prominent Jews. When Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" came out last year, even some usually perspicacious analysts couldn't resist linking the traditionally Catholic Gibson with Hitler and the Holocaust.
Columnist Charles Krauthammer linked Gibson's movie to the "blood libel that... led to countless Christian massacres of Jews and prepared Europe for the ultimate massacre -- 6 million Jews systematically murdered in six years."
In The Washington Post, Richard Cohen summarized his own view: "I thought the movie was tawdry, cartoonish, badly acted and antisemitic, maybe not purposely so but in the way portions of the New Testament are -- an assignment of blame that culminated in the Holocaust."
Walter Reich, former director of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, found in Gibson's "Passion" signs of "that kind of anger that became the seedbed in which the antisemitism that flourished in the last century, and the Holocaust it produced, took root."
The Anti-Defamation League's national director, Abraham Foxman, said that he is "always hesitant to make comparisons of today's evils... to that of Adolf Hitler." But that didn't stop him from locating "The Passion" in the same vein of hate that led to the Holocaust. "The very reason that Jews have gone through so much is the thinking and viewpoint reflected in the Gibson film," he explained to the New York Post. "For 1,950 plus years the accusation that the Jews killed Jesus has been the source of antisemitism -- inquisitions, expulsions, pogroms and eventually the Holocaust."
The fact that Gibson's film led to no manifestation of increased antisemitism anywhere in the world has not, to my knowledge, resulted in any of these commentators retracting their statements.
It's not only Christians, however, against whom we wield the ax of Hitler's incomparable genocide. When Israel's incomparably humane plan to evacuate Gaza of its Jewish residents was carried out, one found Jewish settlers comparing themselves to Holocaust victims -- wearing orange Stars of David to recall the yellow star that Jews in the Nazi era were compelled to wear. An Israeli housing minister noted, "Unfortunately, I am no longer surprised when a Jew compares me and other Israeli officials to Nazis."
At least the Gaza evacuation was a serious event worthy of anguished responses. There was no such quasi-justification for Rabbi Marvin Hier's invocation of Auschwitz, on CNN, after England's Prince Harry committed the stupid but trivial offense of showing up at a costume party in Nazi attire. Hier, director of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, urged that Harry "should visit Auschwitz to show the world that he can be serious, that he understands the great atrocity that occurred there."
There we have an American filmmaker, Israeli government officials and a foolish young British royal all bludgeoned with Birkenau. The world is aware how jealously the Jewish community guards the Holocaust, both as a memory and as a weapon. That antisemites wish to cause us pain seems an unalterable fact of life. [This is exactly how jews thing: everything, and I mean every last goddam thing under the sun, is about them. Anti-semites - your word, not ours - want to free the GOYIM from the pain caused by the jew. But in a world of jew-controlled media, the very idea that jews are persecutors is unheard of.] But how they do this, and what form of slander they choose, is something over which we have some influence.
Our enemies seek to torment us by denying history [Jews seek to torment non-jews by charging them for atrocities they didn't order], even though there are countless other ways they could express their hate. That is so in part because of choices we make. For this, we can thank ourselves, our leaders and other Jews who speak for us.

The number of emails I've received about my article on antiwar conservatives has just crossed the 350 mark. Of those, fewer than 10 have been negative. The sheer number of the messages prevents me from answering each one, but I've read them all and I'm grateful for each and every one of them. With the writers' permission, I'll quote a couple more to continue to give readers a sense of the reaction of their fellow-conservatives.
"I read your piece on the "paleocons" and I can only imagine the vitriol you are going to take primarily because you are Jewish. I hope you read this before you are simply deleting all of your messages because of the vile stuff that will becoming your way right now. I voted for Pat Buchanan in the 1992 primary because I thought Bush I was too squishy and remembered the old Reaganite Buchanan, but now he puts me in mind of Westbrook Pegler at the end. I loved "Right from the Beginning" and his defense of Reagan but what has happened to him just baffles and appalls me.
"A problem with the current paleos is that their policies would lead us to be like France, immoral and no more likely to help democracies than dictatorships. The view that America tilts towards the "Jews" rather than the "Arabs" makes no distinctions between the nature of the governments of Israel and the Arab nations. The vast majority of Israelis have no intent to kill all of the Arabs, whereas that can not be said of their opponents. If the Jews ran Israel as the Saudis, for instance, run their country, and vice versa, you would see a very quick switch in the views of American conservatives towards the Jews and the Arabs.
"There is one more point you might have made in your excellent piece (whichwill be a standard on this subject wherever conservatives meet) conservatism is supposed to deal with men and facts as they are. The isolationism of agrarian, rural and small town America was the product of the history and experience of the time. To ignore the technology and reality of your time is not conservative, but utopian. As you point out, Robert Taft and Vandenberg and the rest changed their views because of the world wide threat of the Soviet Union and the atomic bomb. I would like the revival of the British Empire to keep the peace, while we sit back here in the New World safe and quiet. This is nostalgia and foolishness, not policy. Paleoconservatism seems unable to imagine what a world in which the U.S. implemented their policy preferences would look like. It would soon be unrecognizable and far more hostile to this nation than it is now.
"Finally, paleoconservatism has no electoral victories. The white heartland it (by this I mean the mostly Caucasian interior of the country not that whites are the "heart" of the country) the paleos say they speak for is more open handed than the paleos and is also more bellicose abroad African Americans and Hispanics are generally far more ambivalent about the war on Iraq than the white heartland. They are far more protectionist as well. Where does a racialist, isolationist, anti-free trade, anti-war on terror ideology think it will get votes? The Confederate sympathizers of my acquaintance express their patriotism through fervid backing of America's wars and are generally pro-Israel, no votes there either. If your domestic policies alienate all the racial minorities, your foreign policy alienates the Southern and rural conservatives and your economic views alienate economic conservatives, exactly what is left? Oh yeah, say hello to Lenora Fulani et. al.”

they went the way of Objectivism and the John Birch Society. I used to
be a paleo myself. I worked for Buchanan's campaigns in '92 and '96,
subscribed to "Chronicles," "Sobran's" and the "Rothbard Rockwell
Report," and openly cheered the various little secessionist movements
that those types seemed to think were so important in the early
nineties.
"I once even introduced Lew Rockwell at a YAF convention in Orange County with the phrase, ‘If you want to see what principled conservatism look like, unlike those squishes at the National Review, listen to this man's
words, and learn.' He then gave a frankly nasty speech on immigration.
At the end, I asked him how he reconciled his call for closed borders

nagging suspicion in me that ending immigration was more important to
this economist than, say, a return to the gold standard.
"I joined the Army shortly thereafter and discovered that there was still
a lot to be said about this country, and more specifically, a lot to be
said for a cosmopolitan foreign policy. The naïve isolationism of the
intellectual descendants of Father Coughlin and John Flynn does not hold
up under the scrutiny of military intelligence training. I now believed
them to be childish, but not necessarily malicious, when it came to
foreign policy.
"I do not throw terms like 'racist' and 'anti-semitic' around lightly;
they are serious charges, and should be reserved for serious,
unambiguous cases. I believed the conservative movement to be almost
completely free of the more virulent strains of racism that had plagued
it in its younger stages, but I cannot do so any longer. Public figures
can be legitimately judged not only by their words and deeds, but by
what they choose to speak and act upon. A genuine anti-semite can keep
from being discovered by simply not bringing up the subject. The paleo
crowd has made itself conspicuous by its determination to identify
itself as explicitly anti-Zionist, which is not necessarily the same
thing as anti-semitic, but one would expect that if their motivations
were truly isolationist and devoted to the principle of home rule, they
would cry foul as frequently at the cases of Tibet, the Kurds, the
Basques, Northern Ireland, Quebec, Chiapas, the Ivory Coast, etc. Of
course, they don't, and there's no indication that they ever will, so
what is presented as anti-internationalism and federalism begins to look
more and more like judenhass.
"Suffice it to say that I run with a different crowd now. My hope lies in
the thought that there are more like me, who want to think the best, but
become disillusioned with them not because of others' arguments against
them, but because of their own arguments, coupled with our own policing
of our movement. Again, thank you for shedding some light on this
subject."
[I've have never met anyone, I mean that literally, who has moved from anti-Mexican paleoconservatism to Mexcrement-worshipping Republicunt. Not saying they don't exist, given the power of the jewed media there are probably a few, but I have never met one. The traffic is entirely the other way, in my experience. People do not awaken to the jew's lies being true, they awaken to the jews truths being lies.]
Oh, and a funny one:

A reader from Rockford, Illinois, wrote in with a just reproach:
"In your recent article "Unpatriotic Conservatives" you mention Chronicles as being located in the '...rusting industrial city of Rockford, Illinois...' While I wholeheartedly agree with your takedown of the loathsome racist Tom Fleming, I am hurt by your description of my hometown, Rockford. Disparaging the city Chronicles is located in as a method of demonstrating scorn for the publication and the individual seen as itsface, Tom Fleming, by extension disparages not only one of your biggest admirers (me), but also reflects poorly on my deceased parents and my twelve brothers and sisters (of whom many are Frum fans) and all the citizens of Rockford. I realize a writer of your considerable talents uses many tools. I hope the next time you use a place where Red Americans live in this fashion, you take a minute to realize you're unintentionally insulting a tens of thousands of people, many of whom admire your talents, and even some who because of your Daily Diary, consider you a friend."
What can I say to that? Only: He is right, I was wrong – and I apologize.
Not every letter was positive though. The following is one of the more coherent of the negatives. It's not very nice, but I print it at full length. Was it Aristotle who said that we reveal our characters by our choice of friends? Well, take a look at who is praising the antiwar conservatives as "good, intelligent, and deeply patriotic men."

U.S. intelligence agencies have been secretly removing from public access at the National Archives thousands of historical documents that were available for years, The New York Times reported on Monday.
The restoration of classified status to more than 55,000 previously declassified pages began in 1999, when the CIA and five other agencies objected to what they saw as a hasty release of sensitive information after a 1995 declassification order signed by President Bill Clinton, the Times said on its Web site.
The secret program accelerated after the Bush administration took office and especially after the September 11 attacks, according to archives records, the paper said.
It came to light after intelligence historian Matthew Aid noticed dozens of documents he had copied years ago had been withdrawn from the archives' open shelves, the Times said.
Under existing guidelines, government documents are supposed to be declassified after 25 years unless there is a particular reason to keep them secret.

Subject: "Understanding the Roots of the Anti-Muslim Cartoon Scandal"

The mainstream media coverage of the anti-Islamic cartoons ignores the fact
that the publication of the images was a "calculated offense" commissioned
by a Danish colleague of the neo-con ideologue Daniel Pipes and was meant
to incite violence and promote the "clash of civilizations."
After Danish embassies in three Muslim nations were attacked and set alight
by angry mobs protesting the anti-Islamic cartoons published in a Danish
newspaper the mainstream media turned its attention to the controversial
images and the violent reactions they provoked. Invariably, however, the
controlled press overlooked the important fact that the offensive images
were commissioned and published by a Danish colleague of the
neo-conservative extremist Daniel Pipes /jew.
The anti-Muslim cartoon scandal has turned out to be a major step forward
for the Zionist neo-cons and their longplanned "clash of civilizations,"
the artificially constructed conflict designed to pit the so-called
Christian West against the Islamic world.
"The rioting that has erupted across the Middle East . . . is a predictable
if overwrought reaction to what now seems like a calculated offense against
Islam," The Miami Herald wrote in its lead editorial on Feb. 7.
"It is not necessary to reprint the offending cartoons for U.S. readers to
understand the issue," The Miami Herald, a Knight-Ridder paper. "A
religious taboo was violated, and those involved knew full well what they
were doing. The incident fell all too neatly into the hands of those who
would exacerbate tensions between Europe and the Muslim world."
Flemming Rose, the cultural editor of ]yllands-Posten (JP), is the person
who commissioned and published the offensive cartoons knowing that the
images would exacerbate tensions between Europe and the Islamic nations.
Rose is a colleague of the neo-con Pipes who visited the Philadelphia
office of Pipes' Zionist web site called Middle East Forum in 2004.
Rose then penned a sympathetic article about Pipes entitled "The Threat
from Islamism," which promoted his extreme anti-Islamic views without
mentioning the fact that Pipes is a rabid Zionist extremist.
Pipes, the son of the Polish-born Jewish neo-con professor Richard E.
Pipes, is a Zionist of the most extreme sort, who says that the Palestinian
people need to have a "change of heart" that should be brought about after
being utterly defeated by the Israeli military.
"How is a change of heart achieved? It is achieved by an Israeli victory
and a Palestinian defeat," Pipes said in 2003. "The Palestinians need to be
defeated even more than Israel needs to defeat them."
After three Danish embassies were attacked by angry Muslim mobs, CNN turned
to Pipes, its carefully chosen Middle East analyst, to explain the cause of
the widespread anger in the Muslim world. Rather than discuss the origin of
the anti-Muslim images, which had provoked the protests, Pipes blamed
radical clerics for having circulated the offensive images.
CNN failed to mention that Pipes and Rose are Zionist neo-con colleagues
while Pipes blamed Muslims for the violent protests, saying that
"extremists" had used the offensive cartoons published by Rose "to rally
their people and become more agitatedly anti-Western."
While there have been massive protests throughout the Muslim world against
Denmark for the offense against Islam, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice,
with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni by her side, blamed Syria and
Iran for the violent protests in Damascus and Tehran.
"Iran and Syria have gone out of their way to inflame sentiments and to use
this to their own purposes," Rice said. "And the world ought to call them
on it."
In an article entitled "Cartoons and Islamic Imperialism," written as the
Danish embassies smoldered, Pipes framed the "key issue at stake in the
battle over the 12 Danish cartoons.
"Will the West stand up for its customs and mores, including freedom of
speech, or will Muslims impose their way of life on the West? Ultimately,
there is no compromise," Pipes wrote. "Westerners will either retain their
civilization, including the right to insult and blaspheme, or not."
Repeated questions to Rose, Pipes, and the editors of JP about whether
Europeans should also have the right to "insult and blaspheme" the Zionist
version of the Holocaust went unanswered.
During the last decade, there have been several thousand people fined and
hundreds put in European prisons for having written or spoken about the
Holocaust or Jewish related affairs in a manner deemed illegal.
Framing the cartoon scandal in this way and forcing a false choice between
defending the "free press" or the Muslim protesters, Pipes reveals his
hidden hand behind the publication of the cartoons, which now appears to be
a well-laid trap into which a number of newspapers and populist parties
have fallen.
There is also a clear connection between the publication of the anti-Muslim
cartoons and the secretive Bilderberg group.
Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Danish prime minister and frequent Bilderberg
attendee, for example, has refused to issue a format apology, which would
cost Denmark nothing but could save the nation from further losses to its
exporting business and national prestige. Denmark has lost significant
market share in Muslim nations due to a consumer boycott of Danish products.
The damage caused to Denmark's image, prestige and economy is likely to be
severe and long lasting. Danish lives are also clearly endangered.
Rasmussen's refusal to apologize, however, suggests that the "calculated
offense," which has led to increased tension between Europeans and the
Muslim world, was intentional. One would think that Rose, as the person
directly responsible for the "calculated offense" to millions of Muslims,
would be charged under Europe's anti-racism laws, not to speak of the

ITALY: MOVEMENT GAINS CONCESSIONS FROM GOVERNMENT

We have just heard that Alternativa Sociale (AS), the radical Italian
nationalist alliance dominated by Roberto Fiore's Forza Nuova, agreed an
electoral alliance for the forthcoming April General Election with the
Centre Right Wing coalition headed by current Italian Prime Minister,
Silvio Berlusconi. The agreement was made public on February 17th at the
Hotel Nazional in Rome in a joint press conference of Berlusconi and one of
AS's three General Secretaries, Alessandra Mussolini, granddaughter of
Benito Mussolini.
Rumours of such an alliance have been appearing in the Italian media for
the past six months and more, but Roberto Fiore - known to many radical
nationalists in England and throughout Europe, East and West - stated well
before Christmas that any electoral alliance could only be possible on the
basis of two preconditions: firstly, that the electoral policies of AS be
accepted completely as part of any deal, without equivocation or dilution;
secondly that the Mancino Law, passed many years ago and used relentlessly
to persecute Italian nationalists be modified or rescinded. Without such
conditions, he said, no alliance was possible.
In the event, at the Hotel Nazional conference, Berlusconi made explicit
his complete acceptance of the AS programme which includes:
1. An amendment to certain current laws whereby immigrants who have been
naturalized and granted citizenship will lose this if they are found to be
involved in gangsterism, racketeering or drug distribution. The amendments
will mean their deportation to their country of origin. Given the high
degree of immigrant criminality, it is expected that this will work wonders
in many areas of the country. The government also introduced, under
pressure from Forza Nuova, a law permitting shopkeepers to keep firearms at
their shops because of increasingly violent raids and robberies.
2. Given the declining Italian birthrate, AS believes that it is essential
to do many things to encourage Italian women to have more children. One of
the things demanded was the introduction of a monthly payment for women to
stay at home and look after children. The Berlusconi government has
accepted that women will receive at least ?400 (roughly £260) per month per
child for the first three years of the child's life.It is hoped that women
will see this is a first step to becoming the centre of the family - large
ones - once again.
3. AS has insisted that something be done about Chinese immigration into
the country, and with the flood of cheap goods produced in huge Chinese
forced labour camps which is inundating not only Italy but the entire
world. The Berlusconi government has agreed to the proposals which could
result in a virtual embargo of Chinese goods arriving in Italy.
4. AS has demanded the creation of an independent, strictly controlled bank
to be set up for southern Italy (the region most poor and most dominated by
gangsters of all kinds, illegal and otherwise) in order to create tens of
thousands of small businesses employing hundreds of thousands currently
unemployed. Bear in mind that in Italy, there is no Social Security System
worthy of the name, so the unemployed either rot or rob in their efforts to
survive.
As for the Mancino Law, this was effectively defanged just before Christmas
and has been ratified by both Houses of Parliament. Thus the two
preconditions were openly and clearly met.
The agreement was reached for many reasons, said Fiore, and in spite of
pressure within the Berlusconi coalition which sought to prevent the
agreement. Cassini, the leader of the Christian Democrats, and, Fini, the
post-nationalist, post-normal leader of the most fervently pro-Israel party
in Parliament (the latter being a model for many "modernizing" nationalists
around Europe, attention please!) sought to derail the electoral agreement,
whilst it is known that a leading member of the P2 masonic lodge in the
Berlusconi government did his damndest to prevent it through hysterical
lies circulated through the media.
Many, of course, will say: why do any deal with this crowd?
Firstly, Fiore and Mussolini believe that the adoption of the above
measures will have a positive benefit on the state of Italy, which is their
primary concern. They believe that once these measures are introduced, they
will be in a better position to push for other changes, such as the
withdrawal of Italian troops from Iraq ( a war that AS and FN have
campaigned against) and a loosening of ties with the United States.
Secondly, late last year the Berlusconi government pushed through an
electoral reform bill which penalized any political formation that sought
to operate outside the twin blocs of Centre Left and Centre Right. In
practice, if AS had decided to go it alone, they would have been obliged to
collect the best part of a million signatures within six weeks in order to
be put on the ballot, and they would have had to get at least 4% of the
vote in any constituency to gain elected officials. As of February 17th, AS
was the only political formation - out of hundreds! - in Italy that had not
signed up with one side or the other. As a result of the agreement, not
only has AS's programme been publicly accepted but it means that the time
and money freed up leaves them free to try and build on the nearly 900,000
votes that they obtained in the regional elections of 2005. It also means
that they will only have to get 1% of the vote to get people elected. This
ought, one hopes, to lead to a number of new AS members joining their
currrent two colleagues in the Italian Parliament.
Perhaps the major, final factor, however, was the fact that the Italian
opinion polls show that the country is almost evenly divided. There is no
more than 3% between the two blocs, meaning that the 1 - 2% that the polls
have consistently revealed for AS, will be vital in deciding who will
become the next government. This fact explains Berlusconi's determination
to get an alliance (though the Left have also quietly made offers!). It
also meant that Fiore and Mussolini had to wonder which of the two evils
would be the lesser evil for Italy. Given the overwhelming pro-immigration,
pro-abortion, pro-homosexual bias of the Left, the choice was really no
choice though no-one underestimates the great corruption, uselessness and
malignancy of some elements of the Berlusconi coalition
Is it an ideal position? No. Was there any real alternative? No.

Just in was a small but significant event which reflects on the growing
influence of Forza Nuova well beyond the sterile Left/Right debate. In
Aprilia in the Province of Latina, two communist-run co-operatives
employing a total of 170 members have been plunged into a crisis
unprecedented in Italy. Allied with the communist-run CGIL trade union (the
largest union in the country), the co-ops have just seen the resignation of
140 of these members from CGIL and their joining Syndicati Italiani (one of
two trade unions officially allied with Forza Nuova). Many of the 140 have
also joined Forza Nuova. The crisis is now for the co-ops remaining Reds
and the CGIL union officials to compel their members to do as they are

Current chip-making processes were considered unable to etch features on a microprocessor measuring fewer than 32 nanometres.
But using a high-index immersion variant of deep-ultraviolet optical lithography, the IBM researchers succeeded in creating structures on a chip measuring 29.9 nanometres.
"Our goal is to push optical lithography as far as we can so that the industry does not have to move to any expensive alternatives until absolutely necessary," said Dr Robert D Allen, manager of lithography materials at IBM's Almaden Research Centre.

The American Liberals' Liberian Cousins

For well over a century and a half, we the African natives of Liberia have been telling black American leaders that there is more to Liberia than the ex-slaves who colonized the country. Is it possible that black American leaders still don't understand what we are talking about or is it we who are ignoring their vested interest in seeing that the control of Liberia remains in the hands of their cousins, the ex-slaves? Sure, we recognize the complexity of the issue.
In deference to the race issue plaguing America, we have approached the matter of the ex-slaves' behavior in Africa as delicately as possible. Even so, we have largely subscribed to the American liberal political principles in hope that our century-long suffering at the hands of the repatriated ex-slaves would get at least the sympathetic attention of those who themselves had suffered subjugation. But for some reason that we cannot understand, it has not worked.
Yet we African Liberians have been stuck in the "liberal" camp on the assumption, which has since lost its relevance, that all black American leaders are naturally aware of, or care enough about, our desire as African Liberians to be Africans at home. And history's usual orbit supports the projection that we African Liberians will miss an opportunity of being heard by the American people if we continue to wait for rehearsed liberal oratory to suffice as an expression of our urgent need for both political self-determination and African continental identity.
It is not common for a people to have a bad century as we have. We must therefore determine whether the past one hundred fifty years are a long enough time for us to allow the ex-slaves who founded Liberia to decide once and for all whether or not they want to be Africans like the majority of us. If we do not put aside pretense of continued politeness while we are being politically sacked, the dubious streak of our being misruled by people who also profess hatred for the essence of being African will end up spanning a millennium.
We should know also that it is not entirely realistic for us to expect black American leaders to go all the way in denouncing the Americo-Liberians (as the ex-slaves call themselves in Liberia) whom they refer to as "cousins." Since we African Liberians have no liberal cousins in the United States to set the stage for the American people to understand us, it may help our cause to cultivate some conservative relations through some political matrimony. This, I believe, will put us in the gracious path of the Republican Party when history makes it next round. The Republicans (now conservatives) who, in the 1860s, were so vocal in advocating the causes of Africans in bondage in the U.S. - and were therefore branded "radicals" - may yet come to the rescue of Africans enslaved in their homeland by American ex-slaves.
Now, some black American leaders' antipathy for African Liberians is not always expressed obliquely. In 1992 Liberian President Charles Taylor, as a rebel leader, was reported as holding the first ever native African President of Liberia, Samuel Doe, "by his short hair." The pending doom for the unarmed women and children stuck between Taylor and his ambition to become president of Liberia prompted urgent Congressional hearings.
During one of those assemblies U.S. Congressman George William Crockett Jr. (Democrat, Michigan) chastised U.S. State Department official Herman Cohen for daring, in his testimony before Crockett's committee, to mention the history of subjugation and discrimination against native Africans by the Americo-Liberians. Crockette angrily retorted that the Americos were still the "most experienced and best qualified" to rule Liberia after a hundred forty years. Of course, a few sympathetic remarks have been tossed our way, but the general drift is that being enslaved in the United States has somehow qualified the Americos for perpetual and exclusive political nobility among the African natives.
It is from that mind-set that Congressman Donald Payne of New Jersey has argued time and again that America's singular mistake in Liberia was that it had not "taken out" Samuel Doe, the first ever native African president, even after Doe was elected president of Liberia. Of course Doe's transgression is beyond pardon because he killed 13 Americos that fateful day in April 1980 when native Africans struck, after a hundred thirty years' fruitless wait for a democratic process to afford them a chance for the Liberian presidency.
Yet in the eyes of their liberal cousins, the destruction of 220,000 native African lives may be justified if it brings about what is after all familiar, natural, and, therefore, expected by the Democratic liberals who are "cousins" of the Americos running Liberia.

Members of the local NAACP chapter are hoping to halt distribution of racist publications in Springfield without compromising freedom of speech.
"We don't want to jeopardize freedom of speech," said the Rev. Larry Maddox, the group's president, at its monthly meeting Saturday afternoon. "But we believe it is a targeted hate crime."

Residents in a neighborhood bordered by Fremont Avenue, Sunset Street, National Avenue and Battlefield Road received copies of a newsletter called the Aryan Alternative in January.
The publication denounces Jews, blacks and Hispanics as well as interracial relationships.
"It promotes white supremacy," said Melissa Jordan, secretary for the local NAACP chapter.
In an edition distributed last year, the newsletter featured a lead story titled "Savages in the Streets New Orleans: The End Result of a Multi-Racial America."
The publication lists Alex Linder of Kirksville as the publisher and Glenn Miller of Aurora as distribution director.
Miller told a News-Leader columnist in December that he was merely exercising his First Amendment rights.
"You're going to run into language that will probably offend you," he said of the newsletter [sic - there's a major difference between a newsletter and a newspaper. The "reporter" is aware of the difference, but it's in keeping with her agenda to deceive the reader]. "But I'm offended every time I turn the TV on."
However, Maddox said he thought the distribution targeted an interracial couple who had recently moved into the Springfield neighborhood.
Maddox also said at the meeting that the controversy should not help raise the profile of the publication.
"We need a way to counteract without giving him a platform," he said.
Souder Tate, member of the Mayor's Commission on Human Rights and Community Relations, said the case is under investigation.
Tate, who made his first appearance at local NAACP meetings Saturday, said the city commission is hoping to work with the civil rights group.
