BERLIN (AP) - A German court removed a defence lawyer Friday from the trial of far-right activist Ernst Zundel, charged with denying the Holocaust, accusing the lawyer of trying to sabotage the proceedings.
Zundel, 66, who emigrated to Canada from Germany in 1958 and lived in Toronto and Montreal until 2001, returned to court Thursday to face charges of incitement, libel and disparaging the dead. He went on trial before a state court in Mannheim in November, but proceedings have bogged down in a string of motions, objections and interruptions from his defence team.
On Friday, the superior state court in Karlsruhe said it suspected defence lawyer Sylvia Stolz of illegally obstructing proceedings "with the sole goal of sabotaging the trial . . . and making it into a farce."
Stolz has a week to appeal the decision.
Prosecutors accuse Zundel of years of anti-Semitic activities including denying the Holocaust - a crime in Germany - in documents and on the Internet.
The presiding judge halted the trial on March 9 to ask for Stolz's removal after she denounced the court as a "tool of foreign domination" and described the Jews as an "enemy people" in earlier sessions.

A target list of the 1,000 most wanted organised gangs operating in Britain has been drawn up by a new FBI-style crime fighting agency.
Launching the Serious and Organised Crime Agency - Soca - the prime minister said the organisation would "make life hell" for the country's most sophisticated and brutal criminals.
"We are not dealing with shambling amateurs. It is a global business, its captains are practical and we have to be equally tough, intelligent, broad-ranging and rigorous in return," said Mr Blair.
Some of the criminal cartels Soca is up against are bigger than the 4,200-strong agency itself, said Sir Stephen Lander, the Soca chairman. The agency will be the first in the country to combine the powers of police, customs and immigration officers.
But staff will have no special powers over and above what is available to other law enforcement agencies, and Soca's director, Bill Hughes, previously head of the National Crime Squad, said only the most urgent of operations would take place without the knowledge and usually the involvement of local police.
Mr Blair highlighted recent legislation in four areas which he said would help Soca's work. They are formalised supergrass deals, disclosure notices to make suspects answer questions, enhanced criminal asset confiscation laws and financial reporting orders to enable courts to check on possible criminal earnings.
Mr Blair pledged to monitor Soca's progress and introduce more powers if necessary. "I want to make it quite clear that if, on the basis of the work we now do, we find we need to go further, we will go further," he said. "There is absolutely nothing, in my view, that should come before the basic liberties of people in this country to be freed from the tyranny of this type of organised crime."
The Soca annual plan, published yesterday, said the agency would devote 40% of its operational effort on drug trafficking, 25% on people trafficking, 10% on fraud, including emerging trends in e-crime, and 15% on other organised crime.
Organised crime is estimated to cost the UK more than £20bn - or £300 a person - every year. According to the Home Office, the main crime bosses based in Britain are worth of about £440m, roughly equal to Soca's £400m annual budget.
The home secretary, Charles Clarke, gave examples of human trafficking and drug smuggling networks which involved huge numbers of footsoldiers and dozens of countries. "We shouldn't underestimate the scale of what we have to do," he said. "We have to attack these organisations in a complex, systematic, targeted and focused way."
Sir Stephen, a former MI5 chief, said his staff had spent the past 18 months analysing intelligence on criminal gangs so they could target them accurately. "It is a sizeable number. Some of these organisations deploy very considerable numbers and have very considerable wealth. We have to be more ambitious."
Soca will have up to 140 staff based in around 40 countries worldwide, many embedded in foreign agencies, like the US FBI and Drugs Enforcement Agency, which will have a reciprocal arrangement with Soca to enable quick and efficient intelligence-sharing.
Sir Stephen admitted that the formation of Soca had been "quite a bumpy time" because of the merger of several culturally different law enforcement agencies - the former National Crime Squad, National Criminal Intelligence Service, the investigative wings of customs and immigration, and civilian experts.
Mr Clarke said plans to restructure 43 English and Welsh police forces into less than half that number would complement Soca's work.
The plans followed a constabulary inspectorate report which identified significant weaknesses in tackling organised crime and it was for this very reason the mergers must go ahead as soon as possible, he added.

Ariel Sharon to undergo surgery to close hole in his head

Ariel Sharon, still comatose after a massive stroke, will undergo surgery to
close a hole doctors made in his head in previous operations, hospital
officials said on Monday. Late last week, experts on treatment of
neurological ailments visited Sharon to consult on his treatment, in advance
of a decision about moving him to a long-term care facility.
Channel 2 TV News reported last week Sharon would be moved to a long-term care
facility following the head surgery. Sharon suffered a massive stroke on
January 4 and has not regained consciousness. The statement said the heads
of neurology departments from two Tel Aviv hospitals were brought in last week
to consult with doctors handling Sharon's case about future treatment.
Channel 2 said the operation, Sharon's eighth since he was hospitalized, would
be necessary to allow his transfer to another facility. The report said
doctors prefer to treat Sharon in the long-term care section of Tel Hashomer
Hospital next to Tel Aviv, but his sons might prefer to move him to his home,
a ranch in southern Israel. That would require the constant presence of
nurses and at least one doctor, the report said, as well as specialized
medical equipment.

I don't imagine many people have read The Coming Battle -The International Monetary Conspiracy Against The United States by M.W. Walbert, written in 1899. It isn't required reading in our government school system. This book details the attempts by the big European banking families to control the resources of this country by controlling the government via control of the Treasury. The First and Second Banks of the United States were their early attempts at forming a National Bank, privately owned, to oversee our money supply. President Andrew Jackson crushed the Second Bank of the United States in one of the most heroic stands ever taken by an American citizen. He is treated like a villain in modern history classes.
These international "banksters" finally succeeded in 1913 with the passage of the Federal Reserve Act. This bill, previously orchestrated by Nelson Aldrich, was soundly defeated under President Taft. In order to defeat Taft, the banking community backed Woodrow Wilson, and, to ensure his victory, encouraged ex- President Teddy Roosevelt to run again in order to siphon votes from the popular Taft. Wilson won by the nearly identical margin (42%) as Bill Clinton (43%), when Ross Perot took votes from George Bush. Wilson then slipped the Act through a bare quorum of Congress on December 23, 1913 after most of the opposition had gone home for the holidays.
Throughout the 1800's, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) had steadily declined except for two temporary increases during the War of 1812 and the Civil War. By 1912, the cost of living was incredibly low. Since 1913-present, after over 100 years of failing, the CPI, along with inflation, has steadily increased. Twenty years later (I 933), during the deliberately engineered Great Depression, the U.S. government was bankrupt, while bankers absconded with 30% of the farmland in this country.-
Now, the banksters were poised to foreclose on the Federal Government and have been dictating policy ever since. Or, to quote FDR, from a letter to Colonel House (Wilson's top advisor/handier), "The real truth of the matter is, as you and I know, that a financial element in the large centers has owned the government ever since the days of Andrew Jackson." Former New York mayor John Hylan, in 1922, summed it up this way: "The real menace of our Republic is the invisible government which like a giant octopus sprawls its slimy length over our city, state and nation ... At the head of this octopus are the Rockefeller-Standard Oil interests and a small group of powerful banking houses generally referred to as the international bankers [who] virtually run the United States government for their own selfish purposes."
The important point for our times is that these banksters and corporate giants prefer doing business with governments that are not accountable to their citizens. Controlling governments by controlling the money supply makes exploitation of a country's citizens and resources so much easier. 'That is why these powerful families have worked so hard since the birth of this nation to centralize power (they play our "leaders" like a fiddle) and wealth (which they siphon off via their Federal Reserve Bank money-laundering operation) in government. Eight banking families own about 80% of the shares in the Federal Reserve Bank. The Rockefellers own 33%. As for our elected leaders, Republican or Democrat makes no difference - the same big money finances all of their campaigns. For example, NAFTA and GATT, which allow corporations to circumvent local environmental laws when operating in foreign countries, were supported and implemented and will be expanded by both parties. Our leaders in both parties all belong to the same Council on Foreign Relations/Trilateral Commission club whose controlling head is a collection of mostly banking family reps known as the Bilderburger Group. Virtually all of these people are New World Order globalists. Just think how controllable and exploitable the world will be when the desired "global village" is fully established and there is only one government to control.
When local governments pass ordinances that place further controls on persons and property, they are playing right into the hands of the money powers, i.e. cities control the people, the states largely control the cities, the Feds largely control the states (by holding out the carrot of federal funding), and the money powers control the Feds behind the scenes. The more power is centralized in government, the greater the potential for abuse of power (they're only human and we frequently see how power corrupts our leaders). Our controlled mainstream media (guess who?) and government education system with its "approved" versions of history, sociology, politics, etc. have been insidiously spreading socialist/communist/fascist garbage under the smokescreen of "democracy" for over 85 years in an effort to centralize power in government. It's a tribute to the human imagination to watch otherwise intelligent people try to rationalize this stuff. The great debate at the inception of this nation over the limits of federal power is now resolved: it should have been limited severely. By the way, when can we resume with our constitutional Republic since FDR bullied Congress into declaring a State of Emergency (effectively suspending the Constitution in 1933) which each successive President has renewed? Lip service is still given to our rights to avoid unduly arousing the people, but Big Government (particularly Executive branch agencies) violates our rights whenever it suits. Also, just try going into a federal court (most others, too) and demanding your "constitutional rights" and you'll see what I mean.
All of our societal problems go much deeper than the cursory assessment they are usually given. Please remember, no matter how intelligent or imaginative one might be, no one can make any real sense out of the misinformation, disinformation, and outright obfuscations and omissions of the truth being used to divide - and conquer this country without one resorting to alternative sources of information.

The Pentagon has developed a comprehensive strategy for taking over the internet and controlling the free flow of information. The plan appears in a recently declassified document, “The Information Operations Roadmap”, which was provided under the FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) and revealed in an article by the BBC.
The Pentagon sees the internet in terms of a military adversary that poses a vital threat to its stated mission of global domination. This explains the confrontational language in the document which speaks of “fighting the net”; implying that the internet is the equivalent of “an enemy weapons system."
The Defense Dept. places a high-value on controlling information. The new program illustrates their determination to establish the parameters of free speech.
The Pentagon sees information as essential in manipulating public perceptions and, thus, a crucial tool in eliciting support for unpopular policies. The recent revelations of the military placing propaganda in the foreign press demonstrate the importance that is given to co-opting public opinion.
Information-warfare is used to create an impenetrable cloud around the activities of government so that decisions can be made without dissent. The smokescreen of deception that encompasses the Bush administration has less to do with prevaricating politicians than it does with a clearly articulated policy of obfuscation. “The Information Operations Roadmap” is solely intended to undermine the principle of an informed citizenry.
The Pentagon's focus on the internet tells us a great deal about the mainstream media and its connection to the political establishment.
Why, for example, would the Pentagon see the internet as a greater threat than the mainstream media, where an estimated 75% of Americans get their news?
The reason is clear; because the MSM is already a fully-integrated part of the corporate-system providing a 24 hour per day streaming of business-friendly news. Today's MSM operates as a de-facto franchise of the Pentagon, a reliable and sophisticated propagandist for Washington's wars of aggression and political subterfuge.
The internet, on the other hand, is the last bastion of American democracy; a virtual world where reliable information moves instantly from person to person without passing through the corporate filter. Online visitors can get a clear picture of their governments' depredations with a click of the mouse. This is the liberalization of the news, an open source of mind-expanding information that elevates citizen awareness of complex issues and threatens the status quo.
The Pentagon program is just one facet of a broader culture of deception; a pervasive ethos of dishonesty that envelopes all aspects of the Bush White House. The “Strategic Intelligence” Dept is a division of the Defense establishment that is entirely devoted to concealing, distorting, omitting and manipulating the truth.
In what way is “strategic intelligence” different from plain intelligence?
It is information that is shaped in a way that meets the needs of a particular group. In other words, it is not the truth at all, but a fabrication, a fiction, a lie.
Strategic intelligence is an oxymoron; a tidy bit of Orwellian doublespeak that reflects the deeply rooted cynicism of its authors.
The internet is a logical target for the Pentagon's electronic warfare. Already the Downing Street memos, Bush's bombing-threats against Al Jazeera, the fraudulent 2004 elections, and the leveling of Falluja, have disrupted the smooth execution of Bush's wars. It is understandable that Rumsfeld and Co. would seek to transform this potential enemy into an ally, much as it has done with the MSM.
The Pentagon's plans for engaging in “virtual warfare” are impressive. As BBC notes: “The operations described in the document include a surprising range of military activities: public affairs officers who brief journalists, psychological operations troops who try to manipulate the thoughts and beliefs of an enemy, computer network attack specialists who seek to destroy enemy networks.” (BBC)
The enemy, of course, is you, dear reader, or anyone who refuses to accept their role as a witless-cog in new world order. Seizing the internet is a prudent way of controlling every piece of information that one experiences from cradle to grave; all necessary for an orderly police-state.
The Information Operations Roadmap (IOR) recommends that psychological operations (Psyops) “should consider a range of technologies to disseminate propaganda in enemy territory: unmanned aerial vehicles, "miniaturized, scatterable public address systems", wireless devices, cellular phones and the internet.” No idea is too costly or too far-fetched that it escapes the serious consideration of the Pentagon chieftains.
The War Dept. is planning to insert itself into every area of the internet from blogs to chat rooms, from leftist web sites to editorial commentary. The objective is to challenge any tidbit of information that appears on the web that may counter the official narrative; the fairytale of benign American intervention to promote democracy and human rights across the planet.
The IOR aspires to "provide maximum control of the entire electromagnetic spectrum" and develop the capability to "disrupt or destroy the full spectrum of globally emerging communications systems, sensors, and weapons systems dependent on the electromagnetic spectrum". (BBC)

The ultimate goal of the Pentagon is to create an internet-paradigm that corresponds to the corporate mainstream model, devoid of imagination or divergent points of view. Brussels Prosecutes Assyrian Priest for 'Islamophobia'

One of the rare Belgian churches that is packed every weekend is the church of Saint Anthony of Padova in Montignies-sur-Sambre, one of the poorest suburbs of Charleroi, a derelict rust belt area to the south of Brussels. Holy Mass in Montignies is conducted in Latin and lasts up to four hours. Yesterday over 2,000 people attended the service by Father Samuel (Père Samuel). The priest's sermon dealt with his persecution. The Belgian authorities are bringing the popular priest to court on charges of racism.
Father Samuel has been prosecuted for "incitement to racist hatred" by the Belgian government's inquisition agency, the so-called Centre for Equal Opportunities and Opposition to Racism (CEOOR), because of a remark he made in a 2002 television interview when he said:
"Every thoroughly islamized Muslim child that is born in Europe is a time bomb for Western children in the future. The latter will be persecuted when they have become a minority."
Last Thursday the Belgian judiciary decided that the priest will have to stand trial before the penal court in Charleroi. He reacted by repeating his time bomb statement and added that he would be honoured if he had to go to jail for speaking his mind. He added that Jesus, too, had been convicted. During yesterday's sermon he called upon the faithful to accompany him to court. "We will turn this into an excursion, driving there in full buses."
Father Samuel's passport gives his name as Charles-Clément Boniface. That is not entirely correct. He was born in 1942 in Midyat, Turkey, as Samuel Ozdemir. The latter is a surname the priest dislikes because, he explains, it was imposed on his family by the Turks. Samuel was a Christian: "At home we spoke Aramaic, the language of Jesus." The Aramaics are a Catholic minority in Syria and Turkey. They speak an old Semitic language, which Jesus and the apostles used and which Mel Gibson had his actors use in his movie The Passion of the Christ.
Young Samuel became a Catholic priest. In the mid-1970s he fled to Belgium, claiming that the Aramaic Christians were being persecuted in Turkey. He became a Belgian and adopted the surname of Boniface -- "he who does good things." He was appointed to the diocese of Tournai, but soon became caught up in the culture war between Christians and secularists. Tournai is a thoroughly secularised, modernist diocese. Father Samuel clashed with the bishop, who suspended him in 2001. He then bought the St-Antoine-de-Padoue church in Montignies-sur-Sambre. There he conducts the Mass according to the traditional rites of the Catholic Church.
Hundreds of faithful from all over the country and even from the north of France attend Sunday Mass in Montignies-sur-Sambre. The congregation includes African immigrants, a large number of young people and many young families with small children. In his sermons and on his website Father Samuel speaks out against secularism, but also fights on another front of the three-way culture war, warning against "the islamic invasion" of the West. He says he has witnessed in Turkey what the future has in store for Europe. He claims Muslims are invading Europe and warns for an impending civil war. According to Father Samuel "so-called moderate Muslims do not exist."

without a story about Israel on the front page of the International Herald
Tribune, no matter how trivial or irrelevant. "Israelis fail to find
strong center," was the International Herald Tribune's front-page news
yesterday. We have no reason to think that events in Israel are always
more important than those in Indonesia or Argentina. But, the paper seems
to have a rule: Israel gets a cover story almost each and every day.
We are not so naïve as to fail to understand why: the New York Times,
owner of the International Herald Tribune, knows its market. They are in
showbiz, too. In their theatre, Israel plays a central role. Maybe what
happens to Israel is important to New Yorkers, as say, what happens to
Ireland might be important to Bostonians. We don't know, but news, like
sausage, is not news until it is run through the grinder and is mixed with
the media's magical herbs, preservatives, and special seasonings. Like
sausages, you can only take the papers seriously when you don't know what
is in them.

A democracy...an economy...an institution...a bull market - everything

Think of it as a tree. In its sapling years, it is young, fresh, and
supple. Then it matures. As it grows old, a lot of things begin to take
advantage of it. Moss grows on the north side, balls of mistletoe lodge in
its branches. Worms and bugs eat away at its insides, and squirrels,
birds, mice, and snakes burrow into its cracks and crevices.
As a democracy ages, likewise, a burgeoning world of parasites comes to
depend on it. The leeches get bids, jobs, checks, subsidies, power,
housing, drugs, status, free parking, no-bid contracts, and wars to order.
This gives more and more people an interest in preserving the old
thing...resisting change...propping up its withering limbs. But, like an
old tree shading the ground around it, the longer it stays up - the longer
new saplings are prevented from growing.
That is what is happing in the United States and in France. On both sides
of the Atlantic people know they have major problems. Decadent governments
have made promises that can't be kept. In France, the young resist any
change to their cushy employment laws. In the United States, the old
resist any change to their cushy retirement benefits.
Democracy is supposed to make change easy, but history didn't stop when
democracy was invented. Instead, as time goes by, more and more parasites
find ways to take advantage of the old institutions - eating away at the
heartwood, nesting in the little nooks, sapping the strength of the
society through subsidies, sinecures, and swindles. Finally, what can the
thing do but come crashing down?

Woman's remains found; another faces charges

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — A deaf woman whose dismembered remains were found in a landfill in South Dakota and a road ditch in Minnesota was suffocated or killed by a blow that fractured her skull, a prosecutor said Thursday.
"I think that both of those things may have occurred. And I think it's impossible to say, at least at this point, what the precise cause of death was," said Minnehaha County State's Attorney Dave Nelson.
Darlene VanderGiesen, 42, had been missing since Feb. 1. Another deaf woman, Daphne Wright, 42, is in jail without bond. Both women are from Sioux Falls and were acquaintances, police said.
The case, which involves two deaf women, has been followed closely by the nation's deaf community.
Wright has pleaded not guilty to kidnapping, first-degree murder and murder while committing a felony on Feb. 28.
After she was arrested, Wright said she was upset because she thought VanderGiesen was trying to ruin her long-term relationship with her girlfriend, according to a police affidavit.
Wright was arrested Feb. 10 after a search of her basement yielded bone fragments, muscle and fat that matched DNA taken from VanderGiesen's toothbrush, according to court papers.
A witness told police that Wright removed some carpet, concrete blocks and a large black plastic bag from the house two days after VanderGiesen disappeared.
