"America is going broke...in style. We say that not to alarm you. It's just one of those certainties in life that you should point out to your children, such as "the dollar will be worthless" and "we're all gonna die."

Last month, ominously, the U.S. government registered a record deficit of $85.47 billion. That is, for every dollar the feds sucked in, they managed to burn through a $1.50. But, why run up such hefty losses now? After all, the nation revels in "full employment," does it not? The economy is going like gangbusters, is it not? And, housing and stocks have soared to near all-time highs. If the government can't break even now, when will it ever break even?

If you have to ask the question, you must be out of step with the times. Every policy wonk, number abuser, and budgetary contortionist in Washington knows the U.S. government will never run a genuine un-manipulated surplus. Every Beltway buffoon in a suit is counting on it. Every parasitic politician knows that the positive numbers touted during the Clinton years were a ripe fraud, achieved only by pretending that Social Security was not a government program. Now, even that larcenous legerdemain won't change the ink color; the numbers are red from top to bottom, and getting redder all the time.

Among the seven wonders of the modern world is that lenders and merchants world over are still not only willing to accept U.S. paper, but they are positively craving it. Last year, China alone racked up more than $200 billion in its trade surplus with the United States, and what did they do with all that money?

"China is on a buying spree in U.S.," says a headline in the Houston Chronicle.

"See," we can almost hear gorgeous George Gilder whisper in our ear, "the money comes back to us. What's the worry?"

No worry...just an observation. The money leaves home a servant; it comes back a master. The dollars are spent on consumer items. In other words, Americans use paper to buy junk while the Chinese hold on to it as capital and use it to pocket U.S. debt, U.S. factories, and U.S. assets. Americans used to be able to say what they wanted to the Chinese. Now they must say, "Yes sir." And it wouldn't hurt to learn to kowtow; the Chinese like that sort of thing."

David Musa Pidcock, in his book "Satanic Voices", says that " the city of Constantinople fell to an army of between 70,000 and 80,000 occult Masonic Jews and 20,000 crypto-Muslim Jews, without a shot being fired." and that "within six years of the Young Turk revolution of 1908 and the fall of Constantinople to the 70,000 Jews the great war of WWI began on schedule." During that war some half and million Armenians living in Turkey, along with other half million other Christians of Turkey like Greeks, the Assyrians and Aramaian were barbarously killed in what came to be known as the First Genocide of the twenty century.

However, David is dead wrong in assuming that all the Jews of Salonika were involved in "overtaking Constantinople," only certain Jews were involved and the majority were Innocent. The Young Turk movement, in its initial phase even had some Greeks and Armenians in its members, as David himself quotes Lady Quennborough (Edith Starr Miller) from her book Occult Theocracy: "Not till 1900, when the Grand Orient virtually took over the Young Turk Party which was composed chiefly of Jews, Greeks and Armenians, did this movement assume a serious aspect." Page 585.

Texe Marrs, in his article entitled "Sea of Blood" wrote that in 1908 " Masonic Jewish socialists overthrew the Islamic Ottoman government of Turkey and commenced [in 1915] the genocidal murder of two million Christian Armenians. 'Butcher Brigades' of criminals cut off so many hands of Christian victims, the British Consul reported, that, if placed side-by-side, a highway could have been built of severed human hands." What Texe Marrs did miss is that those dried and withered hands, treated with vinegar and spices and turned black in color, are kept not as souvenirs but are used as talismans in a witchcraft ceremony to cast spells and curses.

David Pidcock corroborates his claim with extracts from two official documents. One is taken from "The Acacia" (October 1908 issue), the Masonic organ of the Grand Orient, an official Masonic publication:

"A secret Young Turk council was formed and the whole movement was directed from Salonika. Salonika, the most Jewish town in Europe-70,000 Jews out of a population of 100,000- was specially suited for the purpose. It already contained several lodges, in which the revolutionaries could work without being disturbed. These Lodges are under the Protection of European diplomacy. And as the Sultan was without weapon against them, his fall was inevitable...On the 1st May, 1909, the representatives of 45 Turkish Lodges met in Constantinople and founded the 'Grand Orient Ottoman'. Mahmoud Orphi Pasha was nominated Grand Master....A short time after a Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rites was also founded and recognized by the French and Italian authorities." The other document is a letter from Sir Gerard Lowther of the British Embassy in Constantinople to Sir Charles Harding. The letter is stated to be private and confidential, dated May 29, 1910, In Constantinople:

"Dear Charles, Gorst's [Sir Eldon Goest, Consul-General in Cairo, Egypt] telegram of the 23rd April about the rumored appointment of Mohamed Farid as delegate in Egypt of the Constantinople Freemasons, 'said to be intimately connected with the committee of Union and Progress [of the Young Turks]', prompts me to write to you at some length on the strain of continental Freemasonry running through the Young Turk movement.

"I do so privately and confidentially, as this new Freemasonry in Turkey, unlike that of England and America, is in great part secret and political, and information on the subject is only available in strict confidence, while those who betray its political secrets seem to stand in fear of the hand of the Mafia.

"As you are aware, the Young Turkey movement in Paris was quite separate from and in great part in ignorance of the inner workings of that in Salonika. The latter has a population of about 140,000, of whom 80,000 are Spanish Jews, and 20,000 of the sect of Sabetai Levi (Zevi) or Crypto-Jews, who externally profess Islamism. Many of the former [Spanish Jews] have in the past acquired Italian Nationality and are Freemasons affiliated to Italian Lodges. Nathan, the Jewish Lord Mayor of Rome, is high up in Masonry, and the Jewish Premiers Luzzati and Sonnino, and other Jewish senators and deputies, are also, it appears, Masons. They claim to have been founded from and to follow the ritual of the 'Ancient Scottish.'

"...The inspiration of the movement in Salonika would seem to have been mainly Jewish [Ataturk also came from Salonika], while the words 'Liberty', 'Equality', 'Fraternity', the motto of the Young Turks, are also the device of Italian Freemasons...Shortly after the revolution in July 1908, when the Committee established itself in Constantinople, it soon became known that many of its leading members were Freemasons..."

David, in his book, give an excerpt from "The Times History of the War" volume 14, page 308: "

"Salonika, with its 80,000 Jews speaking their inherited Spanish dialect, was already a Jewish home; and who could except a Jew, with his history of wandering behind him, to abandon lightly so fair an asylum? Loyalty and material interest combined to make the Sephardim stay where they were and stand by the Turks. They became linked to the Turks more intimately through a crypto-Jewish Moslem community, the Donme, descended from Sephardim converted in the seventeenth century [to Islam].

"The Donme were represented by Djavid Bey, the finance minister...and through Oriental Free Masonry, which they controlled, the Salonika Sephardim were associated from the beginning with the Young Turkish movement. In Turkey as in Hungry, and from the same mixed motives of gratitude and ambition, they threw in their lot with the ruling race, and they supplied the intellectual element in the new Turkish Nationalism.

"The author of the standard exposition of the 'Pan-Turanian Movement', who calls himself by the pure Turkish name of 'Tekin Alp', is believed to have been a Salonika Jew, and there is also reason to suppose that the secularizing, anti-Islamic tendency which is also so remarkable a feature in Pan-Turanianism was partly the effect of this Jewish influence."

David believes in the existence of a Judeo-Masonic conspiracy directed against Orthodox Jews and Orthodox Christians, along with a conspiracy of cover up. He writes "a conspiracy of chutzpah to obfuscate is well established." This latter conspiracy could explain why there are still some who deny the First Genocide of the 20th Century, during WWI; the risk from being exposed would be too much a payment.

This conspiracy of chutzpah (chutzpah is a Jewish term meaning shameless impudence) to obfuscate exist also in regard to the Second Genocide, during WWII. David claims in his book that when Zionists found out at the turn of the century that the majority of the poor Jewish people of Europe were not interested in moving to a new homeland in Palestine, "a parcel of land" (as Theodor Herzl referred to it) which he was trying to purchase from the Ottoman Sultan, who by the way refused to sell or give, Theodor "hit upon the master plan, which he estimated correctly, would enable the Zionists to obtain Palestine througt the sympathy generated in the west by the mass sacrifice [the holocaust] of some of those poor Jews." Which turned out to be in the millions, and the plan quite successful, this success can be attributed in part to the fact that those conspirators tested the Genocide on the Armenians first before applying it on the masses of the poor Jews.

Church Burnings Show Folly of Hate Crimes Laws

Google the words "hate crimes" and you will find that there are 21 million sites dealing with the issue. A relatively recent legal concept (in the last 20 years), its most famous examples probably are the 1998 murders of James Byrd and Matthew Sheppard. Byrd, who was black, was brutally dragged to his death behind a pickup truck outside Jasper, Texas. Sheppard, a Wyoming homosexual, was bound to a fence and beaten to death. In both cases, the prosecution sought to make motives, not actions, the issue.

A hate crime normally is defined as "a crime that is motivated by hate, prejudice, or intolerance of another person's race, religion, ethnicity, or sexual orientation." By that definition, the murders of James Byrd and Matthew Sheppard would seem to be classic hate crimes.

So when Matthew Cloyd, Russell DeBusk and Benjamin Mosely were arrested for burning nine Alabama churches, why was this not another textbook example? Apparently, we are supposed to believe that this was just a joke, a prank committed by three bored college students. That is the claim they are making, a claim being blindly accepted by authorities and dutifully reported by the media. Continue reading this article below

Why are these three malicious young malcontents not being charged with nine hate crimes? Is the burning of nine churches, all of them Southern Baptist, not a hateful act? Is this not a hate crime perpetrated against a particular group of people of a particular religious belief? Of course it is. So why would officials be so quick to accept the idea that this is merely a "prank?" If nine synagogues were burned to the ground, would authorities not consider it a hate crime? What about nine mosques? And if nine gay bars were firebombed, does anyone seriously doubt for a moment that there would be a federal civil rights prosecution culminating in hate crimes charges? So why is the destruction of Baptist churches not considered to be every bit as serious?

This isn't the first time that the act of burning churches failed to produce hate crimes charges. When Jay Scott Ballinger, a self-described Satanist, confessed to burning two dozen churches in the mid-to-late-1990s, even his heinous acts were not classified as a violation of hate crime laws. Why? Can a man calling himself "a missionary of Lucifer" possibly commit such acts against Christian churches out of any other motive? This was a man openly hostile to Christianity. When neo-Nazis or skinheads commit violent acts toward blacks or Jews, no one ever questions that their actions were motivated by hate. But when a self-proclaimed Satanist attacks a Christian church, that is somehow different?

It seems that only members of minority groups or minority religions can be victims of hate crimes. Christians, on the other hand, are fair game for the most egregious violations and it is considered to be "just a prank." Who are we kidding here? This reasoning is reminiscent of the concept that there can be no racism by black people against white people because racism is a matter of one group exerting power over another, and since blacks are a minority they can't exert that power over whites.

Those of us opposed to the dangerous idea of criminalizing thought have long warned our well intentioned but misguided legislators concerning the insidious nature of such laws. Hate crimes are thought crimes, and when one can be convicted of a thought crime, the very nature of freedom is jeopardized. Theft is theft. Assault is assault. Murder is murder. There can be mitigating circumstances, such as premeditation or the heinous nature of the crime, but the motive of the perpetrator should not be an issue.

In addition to building awareness and promoting tolerance, the campaign is designed to explore the roots and results of anti-gay attitudes and behaviors. The longer-term goal is to develop a broader anti-hate coalition of campus organizations and departments, and carry the campaign through the next academic year.

Bill Gates Behind Gaza Greenhouse Handover to PA

Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft, was behind the transfer of profitable high-tech Jewish greenhouses in Gaza to the PA. Arab rioters subsequently destroyed many of the greenhouses.

Gates' charitable foundation, the largest in the world, provided the bulk of the funds used to purchase the greenhouses from Gush Katif residents at rock- bottom prices, to be handed over to the Palestinian Authority (PA), according to Forbes magazine.

A foundation representative contacted by WorldNetDaily confirmed the report. "The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation contributed $10 million to facilitate the transfer of the greenhouses," he said. "This was a unique grant, made quickly and quietly because we believed it was in the best interest of all parties and would enhance the peace process."

The donation falls outside the stated focus of the foundation, which is global health. The foundation has traditionally stayed away from taking a side in the Arab-Israeli conflict. Until the Forbes report, a request to keep the source of the money confidential had been honored by all the parties involved.

Prior to the Disengagement, Israel's bug-free greens were grown in the advanced Gush Katif greenhouses and Gush Katif farmers exported more than $100 million in produce to Europe annually.

In a hasty $14 million deal brokered by former World Bank President James Wolfensohn, the greenhouses were transferred to the Palestinian Authority. The PA then took responsibility for the facilities, but failed to protect them from looters following the withdrawal of the Israeli military. PA security personnel assigned to protect the greenhouses reportedly took part in the looting as well.

The greenhouses that survived are not being successfully used, as PA farmers complain that they are having trouble reproducing the bug-free produce grown by the greenhouses' former Jewish owners. WorldNetDaily reports that the Arabs have asked the US governmental development group USAID to hire back the expelled Israelis as consultants for the declining vegetable businesses.

Family and friends are reacting to the murders of six family members in their Leola, Pa., home.

John Adams is a neighbor and relative of the Wise family. He went next door Wednesday afternoon to check on the family after he and the owner of the home became suspicious about the welfare of the family. Adams said he arrived to find the suspect, 21-year-old Jesse Dee Wise, also known as "Jay," in the home, along with the victims in the basement.

"I turned on a light and started walking down the stairs, and the first thing I saw was Arlene. I bent down just a little and then I saw the baby down there lying on its face. I ran out, and I told the police that they were all down there dead," said Adams.

The owner of the home and the suspect's grandfather, Jesse Wise, 60, said he became suspicious after his grandson gave him and Adams conflicting stories about the whereabouts of the Wise family.

Below is a sience fair project that my granddaughter did for 2006. In it she took filered water and divided it into two parts. The first part she heated to boiling in a pan on the stove, and the second part she heated to boiling in a microwave. Then after cooling she used the water to water two identical plants to see if there would be any difference in the growth between the normal boiled water and the water boiled in a microwave. She was thinking that the structure or energy of the water may be compromised by microwave. As it turned out, even she was amazed at the difference. (see photos)

But 'South Park' episode depicts Jesus defecating on Bush, flag

The Comedy Central television network barred its popular "South Park" series from showing an image of the Islamic prophet Muhammad in last night's episode but allowed a scene in which an image of Jesus Christ defecates on President Bush and the American flag. Earlier today, conservative weblogs speculated about whether the episode's reference to censorship was part of the edgy cartoon show's gag, but a Comedy Central spokesman told Stephen Spruiell of National Review's Media Blog the network itself made the decision to not show the image. The network issued a statement, saying: "In light of recent world events, we feel we made the right decision."

In the second of a two-part episode, creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker played on the Danish newspaper's publishing of caricatures of Muhammad, which sparked widespread rioting by Muslims earlier this year who considered it blasphemy. In last night's episode, "South Park" character Kyle tries to convince a Fox network executive to air, uncensored, an episode of "Family Guy" that includes an image of Muhammad. "Either it's all OK, or none of it is," Kyle said. "Do the right thing."

The executive decides at the last second to show "Family Guy" uncut, but when the controversial scene arrives, the screen goes black with the message, "Comedy Central has refused to broadcast an image of Muhammad on their network." Then comes the images of Christ, Bush and the flag. The blog TV Squad commented that this scene was "a clever way of saying that everything and everyone is fair game, not just Muhammad."

"South Park" actually depicted Muhammad, without protest, in a 2001 episode.

Last month, outspoken Scientologist Isaac Hayes, an Oscar-winning singer heard by millions in recent years as the "Chef" character on "South Park," quit the cartoon four months after an episode spoofing Scientology.

"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer said in a statement.

"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he continued, never mentioning the Scientology episode, but citing the recent controversy over cartoon depictions of the prophet Muhammad. "As a civil-rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."

The creators, whose show won a prestigious Peabody award last week, struck back with an episode in which Chef appeared to be killed and then have his brains scrambled by the "Super Adventure Club," which turns members into pedophiles.

William Donohue of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights took aim at Parker and Stone for allowing the network to censor their work in last night's episode.

"The ultimate hypocrite is not Comedy Central – that's their decision not to show the image of Muhammad or not – it's Parker and Stone," Donohue said. "Like little whores, they'll sit there and grab the bucks. They'll sit there and they'll whine and they'll take their shot at Jesus. That's their stock in trade."

New York, NY, April 10, 2006 -- The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has expressed support for the government of Poland's ongoing efforts to ensure that the official name of the Auschwitz death camp, as recorded on UNESCO's World Heritage site registry, emphasizes that the camp was built and operated by Nazi Germany.

"We share Poland's concerns over the frequent description of Auschwitz as a 'Polish' camp, since this seems to imply that the camp was built in the name of the Polish people," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director and a Holocaust survivor. "Auschwitz stands as a monument to the barbarity of Nazi Germany. In the interest of historical truth and accuracy, the site should be officially designated as a former Nazi German extermination camp."

In a letter to Koichiro Matsuura, the Director-General of the U.N. Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, ADL urged that the UNESCO World Heritage List officially refer to the Auschwitz camp as the "Former Nazi German Extermination Camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau."

"We believe that such a designation, along with an ongoing commitment to preserve the site, will make an important contribution to enshrining the memory of Auschwitz for future generations," said ADL's letter to UNESCO.

In a new report issued today, ADL warns that racist skinhead activity in the U.S. is rising, with active groups or individuals identifying themselves as racist skinheads in nearly all states in the country.

The League has launched an online Racist Skinhead Project at http://www.adl.org/racist_skinheads, which tracks activity by state and region, while noting that the substantial increase in the number of active racist skinheads in the U.S. has accompanied a rise in violent hate crimes carried out by racist skinheads against Jews, African-Americans, Hispanics, gays and lesbians, and immigrants.

"Racist skinhead activity occurs in every state of the country, even where organized groups are not present," said Abraham H. Foxman, ADL National Director. "It is a fluid movement in which skinheads do not necessarily belong to a particular group. Viewed as a whole, the resurgence in activity by racist skinheads is significant and troubling. The Internet provides a borderless universe for recruitment and organizing, and racist skinhead groups have taken advantage of the technology to spread their hate through cyberspace and in the real world."

The Racist Skinhead Project encompasses ADL's ongoing monitoring of racist skinhead activity and trends. Information on new groups and developments, as well as criminal incidents, will be made available and kept current on the League's Web site.

Movement Appeals to Disaffected Youth

The ADL report cites several factors for the resurgence in racist skinhead activity:

* Alienated white youth have found a welcome reception on the Internet from white supremacists hungry for new recruits. The Internet has made it very easy for young people to be exposed to the online message forums and social networking Web sites prevalent in the racist skinhead subculture;

* The white power music industry, around which the racist skinhead subculture revolves and which has experienced a substantial growth in online promotion and sales;

* Racist skinhead groups such as Hammerskin Nation and Blood & Honor have expanded globally, using the Internet to create a network of international white supremacist sites and giving haters in different parts of the country ? indeed, the world ? the ability to connect online;

* Less competition from the major established white supremacist groups, whose activity has diminished due to the arrests or deaths of leaders and serious factional infighting.

Racist Skinheads by the Numbers

ADL's report identifies 110 racist skinhead groups, the majority of which did not exist five years ago. Of these, some are already defunct or reforming as new groups, which is common as the movement is fluid. Also, not all groups are equal ? one may have five members, while another may have hundreds.

Racist skinhead groups and individuals have been involved in at least 83 criminal incidents in the past several years, with the vast majority being hate crimes against Jews, African-Americans, Hispanics and other minorities. Although some of the criminal incidents involve minor crimes, there have been 17 incidents involving charges of murder, attempted murder or manslaughter. Racist skinheads have been behind several attempted acts of terrorism; for example, in 2005 a racist skinhead was convicted for plotting to firebomb an Oklahoma City synagogue.

Racist Skinhead Activity by State/Region

While unaffiliated racist skinhead activity occurs in every state in the country, even where organized groups are not present, the report identifies several states and regions as having a high level of racist skinhead groups and/or criminal activity:

* California: The state of California has a large number of racist skinhead groups, a sizable racist skinhead population, considerable interplay between racist skinheads and prison gangs, a large amount of skinhead-related violence, and a very active hate music scene in southern California, especially Orange County.

* Arizona: Arizona has had a considerable amount of racist skinhead activity, including four recent murders. Among skinheads active in Arizona are many hardcore racists. * The Midwest: Ohio, Indiana and Illinois have experienced a considerable growth in skinhead activity in the past five years.

* Pennsylvania: Home to one of the most active skinhead groups, the Keystone State Skinheads.

* New Jersey: A large number of racist skinhead groups are active in New Jersey, including the Atlantic City Skinheads, the East Coast Hate Crew and the Eastern Hammerskins.

* Connecticut: What began as a small collection of racist skinheads in Stratford has grown into the largest and most active extremist group in the state. Known as the Connecticut White Wolves, the group describes itself as a "white nationalist skinhead organization" and promotes an ideology espousing hatred of Jews and racial and ethnic minorities.

* Oregon and Washington: Both states are traditional racist skinhead strongholds.

ADL notes that not every skinhead is a racist. There are many non-racist or even anti-racist skinheads in the U.S.

Mearsheimer and Walt's Anti-Israel Screed: A Relentless Assault in Scholarly Guise

The article by John J. Mearsheimer of the University of Chicago and Stephen M. Walt of the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, entitled "The Israel Lobby and U.S. Foreign Policy" would not be taken seriously if not for the reputations and associations of the authors. They have each written respected scholarly works on government and international relations and occupy important positions at their universities.

The article itself, which was first posted in full on the Kennedy School Web site and then published in executive summary form by the London Review of Books, is a 41-page, amateurish and biased critique of Israel, American Jews, and American policy. It addresses in a perfunctory and all-knowing fashion some of the most important and complicated issues surrounding the Middle East conflict. Nowhere in evidence is a sense of complexity, balance, an examination of the variety of factors that cause an event, or of putting individual comments in perspective – all the appropriate tools for a serious piece of scholarship or journalism.

On every issue, the authors start with unproven, anti-Israel assumptions and then look for isolated examples to justify these assumptions. One does not have to take a pro-Israel position to recognize that the authors, despite their reputations, have no interest in producing a serious, balanced work. The result is a sloppy diatribe.

Here's how it works. Mearsheimer and Walt start by blaming Israel for everything in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Once establishing Israel's consistent guilt, from the creation of the state to present day, they then move to asserting that the "Israel lobby" (which is loosely and inconsistently defined) in the United States uses every device and method of pressure politics to stifle criticism of Israel and to ensure America's pro-Israel policy, against America's true interests and to serve the interests of the Jewish state.

On Israel's founding, they cite as truth several of the most extreme anti-Israel perspectives. They write of Israel's "crimes against the Palestinians" in the creation of the state. They select a single quotation from David Ben Gurion to "prove" that Israel did not accept the partition of Palestine. They present as the primary explanation of the refugee problem that grew out of the War of Independence the theory that Israel deliberately and calculatedly expelled Palestinians.

On all these matters, there is extensive historiographical work developed over decades presenting many perspectives. Criticism of Israeli policies is part of these perspectives. Thus, for example, on the refugee issue, scholars recognize that a certain number of Palestinians were forced from their homes. But, they also recognize that others left at the urging of Arab leaders and most left simply because warfare causes people to flee. The authors, however, are not interested in complex truths because they would undermine their goal to blame Israel for everything.

Similarly, with regard to the issue of peace, the authors "know" that Israel has never been serious about reconciliation with the Palestinians and therefore they must find a way to dismiss Israeli offers to the Palestinians. Most notable is their denigration of Prime Minister Ehud Barak's (and President Bill Clinton's) offer to Yasir Arafat at Camp David as not providing the Palestinians the possibility of a state but "Bantustans." Not only is this selecting the most extreme negative depiction of what happened at Camp David, but it ignores the further concessions made by Israel in the negotiations at Taba several months after the violence of the second Intifada began.

On terrorism, they concede that the murder of civilians is a bad thing, but they rationalize it (read blame Israel) by saying it's not surprising, "because the Palestinians believe they have no other way to force Israeli concessions."

All of this sets up their main purpose: to demonize what they describe as the "Israel lobby." Since Israel is now established as the bad guy, as not serving American interests, the activities of the lobby are by definition working against what is good for America.

The authors make sure to pay lip service to the notion that pro-Israel activists in America have every right in a democracy to lobby their government and that they are not suggesting any conspiracy resembling that offered by the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. But this is merely lip service because the nonstop one-sidedness of their presentation, their gross exaggeration of the power of the "lobby", the disregard for the consistently broad-based American public support for Israel, the omission of the very many interests that the U.S. has in a strong and safe Israel, and their overriding theme that policymakers are controlled by the "lobby," adds up to an effort to delegitimize the work of pro-Israel activists and has elements of classic anti-Jewish conspiracy theories. Characteristics of such conspiracies are ideas that Jews have excessive, overarching power; that they are more loyal to an outside party – Israel in this case – than to their own country, America; and that Jews don't function as individual citizens, but as a cabal.

In order to justify their accusation, they deliberately distort basic realities. They try to make a case that the "lobby" stifles any discussions that might lead to criticism of Israel. That they would focus on the U.S. Congress is not surprising (though false), since there the overwhelming support for Israel at least might give the impression of such a reality. The game is given away, however, when they make the same point with regard to two other U.S. institutions, the media and campuses. To suggest that criticism of Israel in these two places is stifled is laughable, even to those who don't see these institutions as threatening to Israel. The list of criticisms of Israel both in the media and on campus is encyclopedic.

Similarly, the authors' claim that the "lobby" prevents appointments in the Executive branch of government of anyone critical of Israel is absurd. Naturally, friends of Israel look to have friends in every administration, but to conclude that they in any way control this process ignores a range of officials such as Brzezinski, Baker, Scowcroft and others who hardly fall into the "in Israel's pocket" category.

Other examples of the paper's outlandish distortions and simplemindedness include the "evidence" of the power of the lobby in the establishment of Jewish chairs and programs in universities around the country. Aside from the fact that the authors simply ignore the importance of such scholarship to society and the Jewish community, to speak to this as an indicator of Jewish power without a mention of the millions and millions of dollars being spent by Arab regimes in the Persian Gulf – regimes that themselves do not have a culture of democracy and free expression – to set up massive programs in major universities (including Harvard), is just one more example of how outlandish this work is.

As to anti-Semitism in Europe, which is depicted as another subject the lobby manipulates to gain power and influence, Measheimer and Walt do the expected – accuse the Jews of falsely screaming anti-Semitism at what they suggest is merely legitimate criticism of Israel. The fact that European leaders like Jacques Chirac, Silvio Berlusconi and Joschka Fischer have long ago made clear that there is a serious problem of anti-Semitism makes no impression. Nor that so many in the Jewish community clearly differentiate between legitimate criticism of the Jewish state and the demonization, delegitimization and double standard employed against Israel that is either inherently anti-Semitic or generates an environment of anti-Semitism.

Again, on the Bush Administration's entry into Iraq there obviously is much room for criticism, including criticism of the neoconservatives. What is unacceptable in this paper is the charge that the neocons encouraged the war totally or primarily to serve Israel's interests, not America's. Neoconservatives going back to the Cold War days always had a very particular view of American interests in the world, which they argued strenuously. Whether one agreed with that view or not, there is no basis ever for suggesting then, or now, that Israel's interests superseded those of the U.S. in their thinking.

And finally, there's the issue of Iran developing nuclear capability. As in everything else that Mearsheimer and Walt speak to, it is Israel's alleged interests that drive U.S. policy. The fact that not only the United States, but Europe and even the International Atomic Energy Agency see Iran's nuclear aspirations as a threat to world peace is lost on them (maybe better so because it might lead them to conclude that the "Israel lobby" now controls the entire international community). The mantra is repeated: American is not in jeopardy, Israel is, and because of the power of the "Israel lobby," America acts against its own interests.

All of these examples point to the authors' relentless obsession to see the world through their own narrowly conceived and intentionally distorted prism. It makes for one of the most unprofessional works coming out of respectable quarters. Undoubtedly, the anti-Israel forces will be citing this study for a long time to come. Because of its extremism, however, we can hope that mainstream individuals and institutions will see it for what it is – a classical conspiratorial anti-Semitic analysis invoking the canards of Jewish power and Jewish control.

A JEWISH organisation that tracks down Nazi war criminals overnight slammed Estonia's judiciary as inept and corrupt after the Baltic state's prosecutor dropped a case against an Estonian businessman accused of murdering Jews in World War II. "The conclusions of the Estonian investigation of suspected Nazi war criminal Harry Mannil are a pathetic political whitewash and we categorically reject the prosecutors assessments of the case," Efraim Zuroff, the Israeli director of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, said .

"Mannil should be held accountable for his role in the fate of Estonian civilians persecuted and murdered by the Nazis and their Estonian collaborators," Zuroff said. "The Estonian investigation of Mannil is a pathetic whitewash for political reasons of an a ctive Nazi collaborator who, thanks to the ineptitude or corruption of the Estonian prosecution, will apparently never be held accountable for his crimes," Zuroff said. "Estonia lacks the political will to prosecute a prominent Estonian," he added.

The Wiesenthal Centre has accused Mannil, now 85 and resident in Venezuela, of murdering 100 civilians, mostly Jews, between 1941 and 1942 when he worked in the Estonian and German security forces during the Nazi occupation of the Baltic state. But after a five-year investigation, Estonian prosecutors on Friday dropped a case, saying their probe turned up no evidence to implicate Mannil in war crimes and that his hands were "clean of blood."

"It is obvious that Estonia, which has failed to convict a single local Nazi war criminal since it regained its independence, still lacks the political courage to face the practical implications of the active complicity of its nationals in Holocaust crimes," Zuroff said.

The sinking of the "General Slocum" in 1904 was the biggest maritime catastrophe in peacetime. It also spelled doom for the German community of New York. More than a thousand immigrants died in the blaze aboard the pleasure steamer. But why did the disaster fade from the collective memory so soon? [...]

The story of the General Slocum tragedy begins in the thriving German neighborhood known as Kleindeutchland, or Little Germany. Located on the Lower East Side in what is today called the East Village, Kleindeutchland had been home to New York's German immigrant population since they first began arriving in large numbers in the 1840s. With more than 60,000 Germans living there by the 1870s, the neighborhood lived up to its name. German fraternal societies, athletic clubs, theaters, bookshops, and restaurants and beer gardens abounded. So too did synagogues and churches. One of those churches, St. Mark's Lutheran church on East 6th Street, held an annual outing to celebrate the end of the Sunday school year. They usually chartered an excursion boat to take them to a nearby recreation spot for a day of swimming, games, and food. On June 15, 1904, more than 1,300 people boarded the General Slocum for a day at Locust Grove on Long Island Sound. [...]

Changing New York's ethnic map

The General Slocum tragedy left a lasting mark on New York City. Most dramatically, it reshaped the city's ethnic map, causing the rapid dissolution of the Little Germany enclave. This trend was already well under way long before 1904, but the disaster prompted a rapid acceleration as survivors and relatives of victims were unwilling to remain in a neighborhood suffused by tragedy. By the time of the 1910 census, only a handful of German families remained.

America needs someone like Hart in office to speak for the common man.

Iraq is a disaster--a quagmire at best--started by a President who openly LIED to his people about fictitious "weapons of mass destruction." Doesn't this bother you, my fellow American?

Likewise, NAFTA is a disaster, causing more Americans to compete with third-world wages, as our society quickly retrogresses into an economic cesspool.

There is no immigration; what we see now is an invasion. Would Iran allow 20 million Americans to move in? Would America allow 20 million Iranians to move in? So why is it OK with our so-called "leaders" if 20 million Mexicans come here, say that this is "their" land, and that they're taking it back? Hart is one of the few men to so boldly--and honestly--admit that this is wrong. Where are the other politicians--pandering to corporate interests and the potential future millions of Mexican voters (once our nation's borders are dismantled)!

And why should the common man have to compete with Mexican wages at home and abroad (i.e., outsourcing)? We need tariffs--not more of the same!

Affirmative Action--that's a euphemism for the blatantly anti-white discrimination that festers in every crevice of our society, as only Hart is so brave to acknowledge. Let us also realize that if the 20 million illegal aliens were allowed citizenship, they would automatically qualify for this so-called "affirmative action" and receive benefits over the white taxpayers that they'd replace. It needs to stop, and now!

As for Constitutional Rights, again Hart is dead-on. Our "rights" are quickly diminishing, with those in power engaging in illegal wiretappings, sending off America's children to fight wars based on lies, and raising our taxes to unprecedented amounts to pay for it all.

All the other politicians do is talk, and allow such insanity to continue. Is this what we want--more of the same--or someone who will honestly make a difference, such as Hart? How many times have we heard the others' lies--lies that amounted to nothing but following suit with the party line and watching our society decline.

If you want to watch society continue to fall--to watch our cities crumble and become filled with crime and decadence--then, my fellow American, do what you have been doing and vote for the mealy-mouthed moderate who will do little but talk.

On the other hand, if you want someone who will actually make an impact on our nation for the better, choose Hart. Think about it; don't be overcome with the political propaganda but ask yourself--who will do the best for you and yours?

We need a man like Hart in office.
