Having grown up in Pennsylvania and attended public schools there, I was taught that slavery was an exclusively southern institution, and that southerners were therefore inherently inferior, if not barbaric. This was all a Big Lie, of course, concocted by the government-controlled schools throughout America in the post-1865 era as a means of justifying the Yankee Leviathan state that was created when the Lincoln administration murdered 300,000 fellow citizens (with the help of tens of thousands of conscripts and
European mercenaries).
But the truth is slowly getting out, at long last. The latest example of this Big Lie being exposed is an exhibit this month at the New York Historical Society entitled "Slavery in New York." Professor Ira Berlin of the University of Maryland played a role in assembling the exhibit, and was interviewed about it yesterday in the Batimore Sun. He pointed out that "New York City in the 17th and 18th centuries was the largest slave-holding city on the North American continent. There were more slaves in New York than in Charleston or New Orleans. Slaves made up a quarter of New York's population at various times . . . . New York had slave auctions and slave whipping posts and slave rebellions." And, "there were over 10,000 slaves in New York in the third decade of the 19th century."
"Everybody who walks in" to the exhibit, says Professor Berlin, "walks out saying, 'I didn't know that. Why wasn't I told this? Why didn't we learn it" in school?"
"For most people, slavery was a Southern institution; our racial problems were probably the products of something that existed in the South, not in the North."
In other words, it wasn't only southerners who were "reconstructed" in the post-war era. For more truth about Northern slavery read Joanne Pope-Melish's book, Disowning Slavery.

McMartin Preschool accuser recants. "Saying he lied to please his parents and protect his younger siblings, one of the children who claimed he was molested at the notorious McMartin Preschool in Manhattan Beach more than 20 years ago has recanted his original story. Kyle Zirpolo, now 30 and living near Santa Barbara, was among 360 children who told lurid stories of rape, animal mutilations and satanic rituals that would shock the South Bay and reverberate around the world starting in 1983."
During the McMartin hysteria, I lived in Los Angeles about a 45-minute drive from Manhattan Beach where the case was centered. Day-in and day-out for many, many months, there was media saturation with every reporter racing to dig up more lurid and absurd stories from the lips of toddlers. Eventually, after putting the Buckey family who ran the Preschool center through unmitigated hell, no one was convicted of anything. Nor should they have been. It was through watching the McMartin trial unfold that I developed my deep antagonism toward "Syndromes" being used in court rooms. The children who testified had all been through intensive "therapy" to help them remember the trauma they'd allegedly experienced. Typically, when a child said 'nothing happened', the therapist would ask the same question over and over again, all the while reassuring the child that 'it is okay if something did happen. You'd be a brave girl/boy to talk about it.'
In an interview Ray Buckey said of the children who testified against his family. "It was really only a small minority that was causing all the trouble," Buckey said. "To believe them, you had to believe that half the community, half the businesses and the police were all part of an underground group of satanic pedophiles." And, yet, this is exactly what many people did believe. BTW, the satanic reference comes from some of the later embellishments on the stories told by children -- e.g. about the sacrifice of horses etc. on church altars.The 1995 movie Indictment with James Woods did an excellent job in capturing the mood and message of the McMartin trial. Highly recommended.

He asks, "Why do we believe these anti-human horror stories? From Lozells to New Orleans, unsubstantiated rumours of rape, murder and depravity are now being spread as hard fact. Why do we seem so ready to believe the worst of others these days?"

Walter Mondale: Godfather of the Molestation Witch Hunts

Wendy's post is a reminder of the absurdity of the American system of injustice. McMartin was the first big molestation witch hunt, but there were many others in the next decade, including one in Edenton, North Carolina and Wenatchee, Washington. Janet Reno became U.S. attorney general because she had managed to get convictions in Florida using some of the same tactics that were discredited elsewhere. (Hillary Clinton, in praising these witch hunts, had said that Reno was "good on children's issues," which tells us more about these evil women than anyone would want to know.)
Actually, Walter Mondale, who sponsored the "Child Abuse Prevention Act of 1974," frequently called the Mondale Act, was the godfather of this evil movement. This act gave federal tax dollars to states if they had a "good" record in prosecuting "child abuse." At the same time, the mantra of "most children are sexually abuse in their homes" gave impetus to social workers and others who were able to use the force of the state to destroy the lives of people.
Many people in this country have been wrongfully imprisoned on these false charges, and most of the defendants in the McMartin and Edenton cases were held without bond for years before even facing trial. And you can imagine how they were treated in prison, since "child abusers" get the worst treatment of all.
Most prosecutors in this country -- state and federal -- simply are evil, evil people who regularly imprison the innocent and manipulate the law for their own purposes. Paul Craig Roberts has written a lot of stuff about how prosecutors regularly commit monstrous crimes but do not have to worry about the consequences. If some of you believe I have overreacted, I would urge you to get to know people who have fallen into the terrors of the U.S. "justice" system as I have.

...by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Well, there's the surprise of the century. Apparently it's the same old stuff again: the League of the South, and the SPLC's belief that I have called John Paul II a "material heretic." Why the SPLC would care about the latter point I have absolutely no idea, but it's flatly untrue. If it were, why would I have written the cover story on John Paul II earlier this year for The American Conservative (or, for that matter, this article)?
I'll also take a wild guess that a SPLC "investigation" doesn't include speaking to the person being investigated.
It's just as well: since the SPLC has condemned a whole list of people I admire, including Tom DiLorenzo (big hater he!), Don Livingston (did you know that perhaps the world's greatest living David Hume scholar is really a big hater?), Clyde Wilson (yep, the editor of the Calhoun Papers is a hater, too), I'll be happy to be included in their list. It'll probably sell more books for me, as did the New York Times attack earlier this year.
These people are pathetic.

Comedian Al Franken will supposedly not allow the words "Bring Them Home Now" to be spoken on his "progressive" Air America radio show. Well, I just heard him on XM, and his repeated recipe for Iraq was withdrawal, after the US has "trained" enough Iraqi troops to "defend" their country.
The Democrats may be less profligate than the Republicans, but they are just Bush shills in foreign policy.
After all, Iraq--which is full of formally and informally trained military men--needs no instruction from the US. The problem is not training, but motivation. It's easy to find unemployed men to take a paycheck; harder to find those who will take a bullet. Indeed, why should young Iraqis give their lives for the imperial chickenhawks? Why should young Americans, for that matter?

You've heard the teaching "beware of wolves in sheep's clothing."
Well, last week on the ABC news program "Primetime" mainstream America was introduced to two sheep - Lamb and Lynx Gaede. These 13-year-old blonde haired, blue-eyed Olsen twins look-a-likes from California perform songs about white supremacy - and they mean that in a good way.
Marketed under the group name Prussian Blue, the driving force behind this duo is their mother April Gaede, a member of the white nationalist organization called the National Vanguard, which is a splinter group of the National Alliance. On the organization's Web site, April Gaede responded to a recent magazine article comparing her daughters to another mainstream pre-teen pop group. She wrote:
"There are many bands on the air today who would not have been allowed on the radio 20 years ago. With continuing "exposure" like BUST's (these establishment types think they're "exposing hate" but really they're just showing thousands of freethinking White women and girls that there's something new out there for us), I believe that Lynx and Lamb could become the pioneers who take White nationalist music into the consciousness of the average White man and woman - and that is great news."
She may be right. Scanning message board and personal blogs - personal journals posted on Web sites for public consumption - the confusion created by white supremacists who link ethnic superiority with positive self-esteem seems to be taking hold. One blogger wrote:
"I'm sorry, but I'm not seeing the hate. I'm seeing extreme pride in one's race, which is no different than being black and proud or brown and proud. Just because they happen to be German and like their race doesn't mean they're "Evil." I think all forms of racial pride and patriotism are fickle and foolish at times. However, if they want to home school their kids and turn them into Hitler Youth Girls, well, ... I don't really care."
Their songs have titles such as "Sacrifice," a tribute to Hitler's deputy, Rudolf Hess, that praises him as a "man of peace who wouldn't give up" because Hess tried to broker a deal between Germany and the British Empire promising German protection so long as Britain did not oppose Germany in Europe.
Performing at Holocaust-denial events and festivals entitled Folk the System, the girls execute Sieg Heil salutes while reciting lyrics such as "Strike force! White survival. Strike force! Yeah."
Erick Gliebe, chairman of the National Alliance, and owner of the leading white power music label, Resistance Records, is quoted as saying, "Eleven and 12 years old - I think that's the perfect age to start grooming kids and instill in them a strong racial identity."
Their mother appeared to agree saying, "Well, all children pretty much espouse their parents' attitudes. We're White nationalists and of course that's a part of our life and I'm going to share that part of my life with my children."
The parent's influence is clear as the girls sing about topics few teeny boppers would consider. In the song "Aryan Man Awake," the lyrics read: "Where freedom exists for only those with darker skin. Where lies and propaganda will never let you win. Where symbols of your heritage are held with such contempt, and benefits of country 'cept tax are you exempt. Aryan man awake. How much more will you take? Turn that fear to hate. Aryan man awake...."
On Gliebe's part, he hopes that pre-teens hearing the pop tunes of Prussian Blue will graduate to the harder lyrics of groups such as Max Resistance with gangsta-style music and lyrics that read, "Let the cities burn. Let the streets run red. If you ain't white you'll be dead."
The neo-nazi groups are not concerned about the negative exposure the girls are receiving because they believe the media blitz will only bring more like-thinking individuals to the cause. On the other hand, maybe the "buzz" will expose the wolf in sheep's clothing.
