Subject: It happened last evening
Last night I was visiting with some friends and topic of racial
annihilation came up. As my friend spoke of Negroes murdering and
commingling with whites, I suddenly thundered, "I welcome their
destruction, I am happy that these white people are being destroyed." By
the time the words had left my straining vocal chords, I realized that I
had no idea why I had made this statement. I made no indication of my
surprise however and we continued on with the conversation. Upon
returning home, I began to contemplate my words and their meaning. Why
would I welcome the destruction of my fellow whites? Why would I wish
this fate on any white, no matter how misguided or foolhardy they were
or are? Then understanding came upon me in a flash, do the wolves not
cull the weak and sickly among the noble herds of elk and moose that
roam the Northern regions? Is this culling not ultimately a form of
evolution towards a stronger and better race of people? The weak and
stupid die while the strong and smart remain to propagate? The dawning
was now upon me that the destruction of whites who willingly socialize,
intermingle, cohabit, and procreate with lower "cultures" is in fact a
good thing. By doing so, these whites are removing themselves from our
precious gene pool. When a white man or woman is murdered because of
their unwitting and foolish proximity to savages, that means the genetic
print of those too stupid to recognize such dangers to themselves is
eliminated from our race. When a white man or woman intermarries with a
lower "culture," then it is a good thing, as those remaining white genes
will now be forever stamped with the coloration of another race. Such
people will forever be marked as being too stupid to have recognized the
precious nature of their white racial heritage. Their bastard progeny
will never again be white and as such they will never again be
recognized by those whites intelligent enough to carefully preserve
their genetic heritage. In essence the Jews are now doing to the Aryan
gene pool what the Aryans had once done to the Jews gene pool, they are
strengthening our genetic pool by culling the weak, the stupid and the
undeserving among us. In the end our racial stock will be stronger,
purer and hardier then what is found among the current plethora of
half-witted white people among whom we dwell. Will our race not enjoy
the same benefits of such culling, even as the Jews now enjoy the
genetic benefits from what the Aryan race and the Jews themselves once
culled from their people? To be sure some of the smart and strong will
suffer and die and some of the weak and stupid will survive, even as a
healthy elk or moose injures a leg in a non-fatal manner, yet is too
injured to avoid the wolf pack, but that is the nature of things. No
longer will I bemoan the fate of a pretty young white girl miscegenating
with an ugly, thick-headed, Negro for her foolishness assures the white
race that her genetic stupidity will no longer continue the superior
lineage of Aryan intelligence. By coloring her progeny, these genetic
throwbacks are rightly doomed to follow all the other dark and dusty
ones in their half-witted march towards slavery, debasement and
destruction. No longer will I lament the death of whites who kneel in
the snow like harmless sheep, while black predators debase them and then
shoot them in the back of the head one at a time. It is a good thing
that the genes of such alarming cowardliness, stupidity and slavish
obedience is stamped out early so that these weak genes will not
propagate among the white race. When I look at the milieu of white
people today I realize that such a culling is not only beneficial, but a
necessary thing. However I cannot help but wonder if the Jews do not
recognize the potential outcome of their action. If they do, then surely
it is their intent to wipe us all out before such a genetic
strengthening can take a firm hold among our people. The only question
left is will we survive as a stronger, more intelligent race,
genetically insulated from our stupid ancestors and predisposed toward
greater and more intelligent achievement; or will the Jews finish the
job first, destroying us in entirety before the stupid, unwitting and
foolish genes of our people are eliminated by their actions? The curse
is upon us - we live in interesting times.

Subject: La Raza article
VNN Staff:
I sent you an email the other day; maybe it did not go
through. But I wanted to thank you (and faem.com) for
linking to the La Raza article on Jewish control of
California politics.
It is, as you said, a very good piece, and points out
some facts useful to us. I now understand why the
wealthy California jew, Ron Unz, finances the
"anti-immigration" site americanpatrol.com. Jews know
who their real enemies are. La Raza is a serious
pro-Mexican racialist organization. It has brains and
a public relations directorate and I don't doubt it
has firepower, which it will bring out when the proper
time arrives.
The article also identifies the scarecrow Latino
opposition controlled by jews: Villaigorosa and
MALDEF.
As usual, jews are far ahead of Whites in identifying
danger. Jews think strategically; most Whites think
not at all.
Until I read that article Unz was a mystery to me.
Now it is reaffirmed: Jews never, ever do anything
that is not good for them. I say, everything a jew
does or says is a lie, a ruse, poison. It should be
analyzed, and countermeasures should be considered.
At this time one of our best countermeasures is an old
kike tactic, "dynamic silence." Let's just ignore
them.

Subject: The Dollar Bill, And How To Really Use It
CPTWC's proprietor saw a guy at a gun show writing something on a dollar
bill, in ink, block letters.
CPTWC's proprietor asked what he was writing.
He said "well, this bill will go through several hundred hands before it is
tattered, right?"
"Well, " he said, "I am just using that fact. Look."
On the bill was written, in the margins at the edge of the bill, small but
very plainly: "Help fight Jewish domination of our culture. Visit
www.natall.com or www. natvan.com."
You could, of course, do similar. Those bills do indeed go through several
hundred hands before they are too worn to use. And no one knows who wrote it.
Get to it. And write clearly.

Subject: Yet another thought for the day
One other thought. I am wondering how long it will be before the Jews figure out that they
missed a golden opportunity at silencing the opposition. With many of the expert Holocaust
(tm) revisionists meeting in a place like Beirut, all the Jews would have had to do was blow
the place up! Either call in an "accidental" air strike like they did on the American ship
Liberty or send in Mossad terrorists to blow the place up and then blame the act on Islamic
terrorist. With a global internet forum such a situation would be impossible. The speakers
could broadcast from widely separated, secret locations. Security would be far, far, less
of a problem then it would be if all these individuals were clustered in one location,
especially a "hot" area like Beirut Lebanon.

Subject: The Eyes and Ears of the Police Department
A recent correspondent to VNN described his experience serving on a
jury where blacks would not convict a fellow black. Here's my brush with
the so-called "justice system."
"Good citizens are the eyes and ears of the police department," say
all the "community policing" P.R. campaigns. So when I saw a Negro man
walk through someone's yard, try the back door, enter their home, and
reappear lugging a TV set (TV-set-lugging Negroes are a racist myth), I
knew just what to do. I called the police.
It took ten officers to capture and subdue the drug-addled suspect,
who kicked off his sandals and fled barefoot over the sharp rocks,
broken glass, and twisted metal of a nearby railroad embankment. Police
told me that he had about twenty different names and addresses, and had
to be identified by fingerprints. When they got his real name, his
criminal record printed out three feet long. He was currently on parole,
and faced going back to the pen if convicted of this burglary.
Before I knew it, the telephone calls from abrasive young Jewish
"public defenders" began. Under no legal obligation to say anything to
anyone, I hung up. Before I knew it, a subpoena was simply tossed into
the lobby of my building- it was not legally served this way, but did
embarrass me in front of neighbors. The Jews defending this nigger with
my tax money continued calling me, trying to get me to appear at all
sorts of pre-trial hearings, etc.
When I finally went to court with the White family whose house had
been looted, I testified as to what I had seen, with Jews grilling me
about the lighting conditions, shadows, time of day, phase of the
moon...grasping at straws, as the Negro looked daggers at me.
I did not get so much as a cup of coffee from the well-to-do White
homeowners for all of my trouble over their lousy (and insured) TV set.
I'm honestly surprised that they didn't drive away and leave me to walk
home from court once they were done with me.
Not even eight months later, I heard a loud disturbance in the
alley. Crash! Bam! "YOU FUCKING NIGGER!" a White voice bellowed.
I looked out to see the same Negro I had faced in court, in the same
clothes, with towels wrapped around each fist. He had been trying to
punch out the windows of someone's parked car, obviously thinking that
it was mine. I understand that there is a bird that picks up and uses
little sticks to dig for bugs; a tool-using bird is 'way ahead of a
nigger, who isn't even smart enough to use a rock to break something.
I was smarter after my first experience, though; it was obvious that
the "justice system" with which I had cooperated had released this Negro
again to run wild in the streets. 911 call? Not this time. What would be
the point? Let the "pillars of the community," the affluent
townhouse-dwellers, deal with the problem they bought into. I moved
away, voting White with my feet.
Thus, the stuck-up lose one more caring White neighbor, and the
police lose one more set of "eyes and ears." I used to be hell on wheels
with a pair of binoculars and a police scanner. I singlehandedly spotted
and reported more nigger crime and was reponsible for more arrests than
an entire hand-wringing "community group." I'd even call the 911
dispatcher to tell her to get her foot off the transmit pedal when she
was shutting down the whole radio channel and, of course, couldn't hear
that she was the cause. Once, I remembered- when no cop did- that, weeks
before, a laundromat had been burglarized of thousands of dollars in
coins, and called that in when police stopped a carload of Negroes
trying to spend the rolled change; they were all arrested. I got a
wanted Negro criminal grabbed right off the street corner as he tried to
lure a White child into his nearby (stolen) car "to take some pictures."
No one was ever more involved than I in trying to make his city a safer
place.
Not anymore, though. We have "community policing" now. Gun-grabbing
city government is cold, hostile, distant, the police we pay for are now
scrambling their radio calls, afraid we'll hear what's going on around
us, and the advanced computer capabilities of 911 dispatch have added
all sorts of address-pinpointing and record-keeping programs. Couple
this with the halfwitted Negro call-takers used at police dispatch
centers, and you've got real trouble- for yourself.
I once called the police to report, "Employees at ABC Company
plowing snow from the company's parking lot into the middle of an
arterial street." By the time that information filtered its way through
a half-dozen somnolent, uncaring blacks, who could be heard laughing,
shouting, cavorting in the dispatch room, the squad car got, "Fistfight
over a parking space, fight inside the apartment," and was given MY
address to respond to.
Not only that- the 911 system keeps a permanent record of calls made
from your number, a "location history" that responding officers can call
up on their computer screens.
The next time I had to call police to report a theft, the extremely
lazy, nasty, cynical officers, who took over an hour to respond, must
have called up this "location history." They were less interested in the
theft than they were in questioning me about "the feud I was having with
my neighbors!"
Call the police a lot, and you'll be considered a "nut." The
criminals aren't bothering the police. You're the one calling, calling,
making all that work for them. You're the problem. It's not like they
taught you in grade school, is it? Officer Friendly lied.
Conclusions, from these and a lifetime of other experiences?
Cooperating with the authorities is a sucker's game, more dangerous to
White taxpayers than to colored perpetrators.

Subject: NPR Jews poison the Spring
Time to shut off the radio-mouth again...National Public Radio, a
Jewish voice speaking from the wilds of New York's Central Park,
describing the wonders of spring bird migration, driving home the point
of "diversity" by telling us about one "multicultural" bird, "product of
a non-traditional family," that sings two different songs. Or might.
It's not like we can prove what we're saying, but it's a pleasant
thought. For Jews, anyway.
Hark! What is that bird-call? "A story a day! A story a day!" rasps
the disheveled, lice-ridden Hook-Nosed Jew-Bird, limping about its
reeking nest of twigs, dollar bills, and crumpled-up sex magazines.
_Tikkun olam_! Jews re-making the world, projecting their sick
imagery backwards onto nature itself! Multicultural birds!
Since some Sheinbein, some Cohen or other has brought it up, I'll
relate a bit of racial wisdom derived from my Germanic forebears, who
were able to see things the way they really were, and did not spend
their lives in the creation of elaborate constructs behind which to hide
themselves. "The birds don't mix."
There. Thus is kikedom refuted, with a glance at reality and a few
words of truth. We don't lie. We don't have to. We're not Jews.
How lovely the springtime, how true the bird-song when not distorted

Subject: TV, Teens and Minorities
In the teenager magazine "Teen People," they apparently have, like their
adult counterpart ("People" magazine) an ongoing feature about the 25
most-popular young stars today (actors, sports stars, etc.)
The one that they are featuring today (4/8/01) on AOL's "welcome page" as the
"likely favorite" is a young, female mulatto.
Now, this needs to be commented on.
Blacks make up only 12% of the U.S. population. Yet, if a young person
watches a lot of TV, and reads a lot of magazines (like "Teen People"), he or
she will be exposed to FAR MORE Blacks than they would "normally" be exposed
to.
This totally distorted reality, regarding the number of minorites encountered
by a regular, White suburban teen, is KEY to the Left winning the war for
control of our culture.
We already know that a multicultural society is less cohesive, and as a
result, less stable.
This over-exposure of our teens to Blacks and other minorities is very
deliberate. It is not simply an "accident" that our teens see 6 or 7 times
more minorities per week than they would normally encounter in a year.
Think about it for a moment.
And then be angry that certain people are giving your teen a totally
distorted view of America.

Subject: O.J. and the eternal divide of race
A correspondent to VNN, detailing his experiences on a jury where
blacks refused to convict a fellow black no matter what the evidence,
concluded, "I always thought you were supposed to punish the guilty
regardless of their skin color. I'm here to tell you that blacks don't
feel or act that way."
We've always known that; a watershed moment occurred not too long
ago that illustrated the utter futility of decades of "equality,"
"social justice" propaganda. At the conclusion of O.J. Simpson's trial
for murder, some television stations made a mistake; they displayed a
split-second of truth, in coverage of public reaction to the verdict.
TV cameras were focused on groups of Whites, and on groups of
blacks, watching TV in a public place such as a bar as the verdict was
announced. When the foreman said, "Not guilty," there was a gasp of
shock, stunned faces, groans of dismay from the White audiences. There
was an instant, primal shriek of jubilation from blacks, smiles, jumping
up and down.
Even some of the dullest people I know, regular silent TV-absorbers,
noticed this and commented on it.
Race is the great motivator. That's why Jews are working so hard to
discount it through lies and disinformation, dissolve it through
miscegenation, submerge it under a flood of immigration, and prevent any
racial discussion through media control and world-wide,
"border-transcending" Internet censorship.
There is a tremendous wellspring of White Power waiting to be
tapped. The giant is not dead, only dazed by TV. All that we as White
Nationalists have to do is to keep speaking the truth.

The truth about the Jewish Anti-Defamation League
of B'nai B'rith
Role in Internet Censorship
In an attempt to limit access to unapproved web sites on the world wide web,
the ADL pioneered what they call their "Hate Filter". The ADL has promoted
their Hate Filter to parents who want to limit what the ADL considers
objectionable content. More insidious are efforts by the ADL to provide their
Hate Filter to public institutions such as public libraries, schools and
colleges. The ADL has also worked with major Internet carries like America
Online (AOL) to create "Terms of Service" which would prohibit any speech the
ADL finds offensive.
The ADL web site proudly claims that their Hate Filter:
".protects children by blocking access to World Wide Web sites of individuals
or groups that, in the judgment of the Anti-Defamation League, advocate
hatred, bigotry or even violence towards Jews or other groups on the basis of
their religion, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or other immutable
characteristics."
Limiting facts or opinions the ADL find objectionable is not limited to their
Hate Filter. ADL operatives now work with major Internet providers such as
AOL to limit access to objectionable web site. Subscribers to these services
that post opinions that the ADL doesn't like on their web pages or on Usenet
are notified that their accounts are cancelled.
The ADL works to ensure that commercial ISPs create terms of service that
limit what their users can read or say. By lobbying commercial carriers to
censor their users, the ADL acheives their aim of outlawing free speech and
expression without the contraints of the First Amendment's protections.
An ADL press release from October 21, 1996 titled "New ADL Report Documents
Increased Use of Internet By Haters; ADL and AOL Explore Ways To Set
Standards Against Hate Online," ADL National Director, Abe Foxman, explains
typical ADL double-talk how they are working with AOL to set policies against
politically incorrect speech. These policies, known as "Terms of Service" can
then be used by commercial carriers to enforce speech regulations without
concern for Constitutional Rights.
"We are working with America Online to create an atmosphere of responsibility
on-line, to set standards within the framework of the First Amendment that
will give assurances to parents, educators and communities that there is no
tolerance for hate on-line."
In a follow-up press release from April 7, 1997 titled "ADL Calls On America
Online To Adhere To Own Guidelines Regarding Hate Material" the ADL explains
their relationship with AOL and what "standards within the framework of the
First Amendment" means.
"In the past, the League has been gratified by the responsiveness of AOL to
complaints about racism and bigotry but now calls on AOL to adhere to their
terms of service regarding hate material with equal vigilance as those
regarding pornography."
"While we strongly believe in freedom of speech and do not advocate
censorship on the Internet," said Mr. Foxman, " we expect those companies
which have created guidelines to adhere to them."
"AOL's terms of service state that AOL, Inc., its affiliates and ICPs have
the right to remove content they deem, in their discretion, "harmful" or
"offensive." The League calls on AOL to live up to its own commitments."
In the ADL article "Responding to Extemist Speech Online: 10 Frequently Asked
Questions", the ADL explains how they work around the Constitution to stifle
free speech. In this article, the ADL suggests the following:
"Commercial ISPs, such as America Online (AOL), may voluntarily agree to
prohibit users from sending racist or bigoted messages over their services.
Such prohibitions do not implicate First Amendment rights because they are
entered into through private contracts and do not involve government action
in any way.
"Once an ISP promulgates such regulations, it must monitor the use of its
service to ensure that the regulations are followed. If a violation does
occur, the ISP should, as a contractual matter, take action to prevent it
from happening again. For example, if a participant in a chat room engages in
racist speech in violation of the "terms of service" of the ISP, his account
could be cancelled, or he could be forbidden from using the chat room in the
future. ISPs should encourage users to report suspected violations to company
representatives."
The ADL suggests in the same article that Universities limit the use of their
computer systems to prevent students from promoting or reading objectionable
material.
"Because private universities are not agents of the government, they may
forbid users from engaging in offensive speech using university equipment or
university services."
"Nonetheless, public universities may promulgate content-neutral regulations
that effectively prevent the use of school facilities or services by
extremists. For example, a university may limit use of its computers and
server to academic activities only. This would likely prevent a student from
creating a racist Web site for propaganda purposes or from sending racist
E-mail from his student E-mail account. One such policy -- at the University
of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana -- stipulates that its computer services are
"provided in support of the educational, research and public service missions
of the University and its use must be limited to those purposes."

** Gun Control In America:
For years, many patriotic persons have been hearing that Jewish persons are
disproportionately involved in gun control (not surprising, as they are disproportionately
involved in other leftist causes, too.)
Here are two recent examples: In the August 2000 issue of the NRA magazine
"American Rifleman", p. 74, is a list of who sponsored the anti-gun march titled "The
Million Mom March", held in 2000.
Under both "Individuals/Families" and under "Religious Groups", Jews are disproportionately
represented. For example, there are 8 Religious Groups listed, and of the 8, 4 are Jewish.
Since Jews make up only 2.4 percent of the U.S. population (K MacDonald 1998), this is
GROSSLY disproportionate. ("True" proportion would be far less than 1 religious group).
Also note that, since Jewish persons usually have much more financial/political power than
non-Jews, this is actually more of a problem than it might seem.
Ditto the Individuals/Families category- about 1/3 have noticeably Semitic names- it could
be even higher, as one cannot always tell by name alone. Again, they make up only 2.4
percent of the U.S. population. (Note that there is indeed such a thing as a Semitic
surname: Goldberg, Tannenbaum, Silverstein, Adler, Grossman, etc.). This category is also
grossly disproportionate, being approx. 33% of the total, and possibly more.
Another (even better) example is the July 17, 2000 issue of "The New American" magazine.
On page 16 of that issue, a Jewish man named Hillel Goldstein, in an article entitled "I Am
Alive, No Thanks To Gun Control", candidly admits that gun ownership is (quote) "extremely
unpopular" (endquote) in the Jewish community. (Note that he said "extremely")
Ask any patriotic person who keeps his ear to the ground- he will verify this. In fact,
Jewish ownership of guns is so rare that there is an organization named"Jews For The
Preservation Of Firearms Ownership" (emphasis on "Jews"). Not "Citizens"...... Not
"Americans"...... but "Jews". (They are leftist, by the way- just read some of their
hopelessly P.C. booklets that claim the Klan is behind gun control (Booklet #4, "Gun
Control Is Racist"). The cover shows a Klansman burning a pile of guns! Incredible!! (Your
average redneck Klansman owns more guns than most people). This bit of propaganda, by
itself, is rather suspicious.
If this does not convince anyone, let it be noted that all of the big anti-gun troublemakers
in Congress have been Jewish, from the old guard (the infamous Howard Metzenbaum and Co.)
to the new breed (Schumer, Feinstein, Boxer, Lautenberg). Look at who is the most anti-gun
in the halls of Congress, and you will see that a vastly disproportionate number are Jewish
by ethnicity (not just religion).

Subject: MTV "Shower Rangers"
Dear VNN,
I would just like to say that the MTV Shower
Ranger story of April 7th was the funnniest thing I"ve
read in ages, and had me laughing away like a maniac
for a good half-hour.
The sickest, most morbid imagination of the
lowest, filthiest "blue comedian" could never come up
with a story like this in a thousand years.

Subject: Your 4/5/01 TV Show (Holocaust Guests)
Dear "Arizona Illustrated" :
We are writing regarding your 4/5/01, PBS-affiliated TV show, in which you
featured guests commenting on the Nazi "Holocaust."
One guest was a male "Auschwitz survivor," the other was a female "educator"
(Edith Shaked) who is apparently involved in "educating people about the
Holocaust." (She does, or did, teach a college course about that subject).
One can assume from the outset that (almost) all people are against mass
murder, regardless of their political bent.
Keeping that in mind, this question is now posed: is it safe to assume that
"Arizona Illustrated" will soon air a segment about the other, first
Holocaust of the 20th century: the systematic murders of some 20 million
people by the Bolsheviks/Cheka (and their followers) in Russia from 1917-
forward? (This event is mentioned in many books, including the recent "Black
Book of Communism," Harvard University Press, 1999).
This was wholesale, systematic killing, day-in, day-out, for decades [repeat,
decades]. It was indeed "the first holocaust" of the 20th century. Specific
victims were selected, using specific execution methods (usually gunshot to
back of neck or gunshot to brain). Worse, the victims were almost always
tortured first.
Strangely, the facts above are hardly ever mentioned in the "mainstream"
media. Yet, the second (Nazi) holocaust is mentioned almost daily, even
though the number of victims was far lower, and the Nazi event spanned only
about one decade (while the Russian holocaust spanned many decades. Weird,
isn't it?)
Further (and not to put too fine a point on it), the Bolsheviks, as noted by
Jewish author David Horowitz in his book "The Politics of Bad Faith,"** were
heavily Jewish by ethnicity (not just religion), as were most communist
groups/movements in Europe at that time (hence the German attitudes about
Jewish persons). (** "The Politics Of Bad Faith," Free Press, 1998, hardcover
edition, p. 119. Horowitz specifically mentions first Russia, then other
countries).
Can we look forward to "Arizona Illustrated" airing a segment about this
leftist-committed slaughter, which far exceeded the second (Nazi) one?
We also wonder if Ms. Shaked mentions any of the above in her lectures? We
may forward this e-mail to her to ask her (and we are quite sure that she
will say "why, yes, I do mention it, in every lecture I give.")

Subject: Pearson-Copp Letters
Chuck's letter was very proper in offering mercy to Copp. If he is one of our brothers. I
have never been impressed with money or possessions, but for middle class white kids who
had good parents, and played being hip, and wanting to be good, I say they got messed up in
the head with, cool hand Luke type movies and other's making all southerners all look
evil. When "To Sir With Love" came out, I was a teenager still living with savage niggers
and I did not see the movie ever. In my soul I could never see it and I was a proper
ignorant liberal in the seventys. As you know after Birth of a Nation the Jews went Crazy.
Then started buying out Hollywood, and what they could not buy out right they bought 51%
and then moved them out. No who wake up will ever be the same. Evil is tough to deal with.
And being tough and standing up to evil, is not evil. I would say to Mr.Copp, Wake up, Wake

Subject: Jury Duty
Hey VNN, great site. I'm a white college-educated male in my mid 30's. I live within the
city limits of St. Louis. About six months ago I was called for jury duty and ended up
being selected to serve on the jury in a criminal case. I would like to share my
experience with your readers.
The case I served on involved a strong-arm robbery. The victim was a middle-aged white
woman who was robbed and assaulted by a black male as she was walking across a parking lot
to a restaurant to dine with her elderly mother. She was assaulted from behind. The
perpetrator initially attempted to rip the purse away, failed, and then began kicking the
victim repeatedly in the legs and thighs until he was able to get the purse. He then fled
on foot. Fortunately a customer in the restaurant had a cell phone and the police were
called within seconds. A description of the suspect was broadcast to the police describing
the perpetrator. He was wearing a black knit cap, grey pants, and a blue and gold jacket
with a letter on the back. A police officer responding to the call was able to observe,
identify, and apprehend a suspect matching the description, (wearing a black knit cap, grey
pants, and a blue and gold jacket with an M for Michigan on the back), less than 15 minutes
after the crime had been comitted.
The suspect, who was apprehended less than 3 blocks from the scene, was apprehended while
in the process of ducking behind a 7-11. After being questioned he was brought back to the
scene of the crime where the victim positively I.D.'d him as the man who had robbed and
assaulted her less than an hour before! The case didn't take long to try, it seemed
straightforward enough. The victim described what had happened, the purse snatching and
the kicking, (complete with photos of her leg, which was a mosaic of different colored
bruises from ankle to thigh). The policeman testified as to the time of the call and his
responses and actions throughout the whole incident, concluding with the victim I.D. and
the subsequent arrest of the suspect. Both the policeman and victim came across as
extremely credible witnesses. I observed the suspect throughout the trial as he sat there
sheepishly. He had the look of the guilty child, who'd been caught red handed with his
fingers in the cookie jar. Things looked pretty bad for the suspect, and we all waited to
hear what he would say for himself. How would he rebut the evidence which all pointed
towards him, the testimony of the officer as well as the victim who clearly had identified
him as the perpetrator? His solution was not to take the stand.
After closing arguments we retired to deliberate the case. The jury was composed of 2
black men, 4 black women, 3 white men, 2 white women, and 1 Mexican woman. I ended up
being elected jury foreman. My first order of business was to do a secret poll of the jury
to see where we stood. The vote came in 7 guilty, 5 not guilty. When I announced the
initial 7-5 vote, one of the black women said, "well he's guilty then since it's unanimous." I
then had to explain to her what unanimous meant, and that 7-5 wasn't a unanimous vote.
After the first poll of the jury I suggested we each discuss how we voted and explain why
we felt the way we did. I went first and cited why I felt the defendant was guilty. I
felt that the fact that he'd been apprehended less than 3 blocks from the crime scene, less
than 15 minutes after it had occurred was pretty damning. I felt that the fact that he fit
the description exactly was pretty damning. I figured the fact that the victim positively
I.D.'d him less than an hour after the crime had been committed was the clincher. I
watched her as she testified, and I watched the defendant as well. There wasn't any doubt
he had done it. I knew it, he knew it, and everybody in the courtroom knew it. I can only
say I was there, I had no axe to grind, and that man was guilty. Yet, we didn't convict
him.
We couldn't convict him, and the reason was the blacks on the jury. The middle-aged black
man on the jury said he wouldn''t find the defendant guilty "No matter what." Then Miss
"Unanimous" chimed in with "there are already too many bruthas in prison." I said we were
just supposed to deal with this particular case, and that the race of the defendant was of
no significance whatsoever, it was a question of guilt or innocence. Another black female
said that lots of people wear "the same type clothing." I asked her what she thought the
odds were of multiple black men all wearing black knit caps, grey pants, and blue and gold
Michigan jackets with an M on the back, being less than 3 blocks from the robbery sight
less than 15 minutes after the robbery happened. She gave me a stony glare and said "that
don't prove nothin'." Then I asked her if she thought the victim was lying or mistaken.
She was forced to admit she believed the victim's testimony. I asked Mr. Not Guilty No
Matter What if he felt the victim was lying or mistaken, and he also was forced to admit
that he believed her. It became apparent to me that the case had become more about race
than guilt. The blacks didn't want to convict a black man that they knew was guilty,
because of his skin color. The exact same case with a white defendant would have resulted
in a guilty verdict within an hour! The problem was that even though all six of the black
jury members knew the defendant was guilty, only one wanted to hold him accountable! After
a day and a half of deliberations, during which one of the blacks said they "didn't care
whether they had the defendant on videotape committing the robbery because it still wouldn't
be enough," I was forced to notify the judge that we were hopelessly deadlocked. I felt ill
when the judge announced a hung jury. I always thought you were supposed to punish the
guilty regardless of their skin color. I'm here to tell you that blacks don't feel or act
that way.
