Dear Jim and Malcolm,

Esther and I take no pleasure in noting that the Conference of Presidents' long-standing failure to articulate and act upon a clear and unequivocal position on the Pollard case is now painfully apparent in the public actions of its constituent members.

We were sickened to hear and read that the leadership of the United Jewish Communities (UJC), a member organization of the Conference, "does not take a position on the Pollard case" (Doron Krakow, Director General of the 2003 UJC General Assembly); and that the Pollard issue is a concern only "for the Israeli government" (Steve Hoffman, UJC President and CEO).

We also take no pleasure in noting that the UJC categorically refused all of our entreaties to place my case on the official agenda of its annual General Assembly (GA) in Jerusalem. When Pollard supporters held a demonstration to protest this callous rejection, on the outside they were shunned by the GA, and on the inside they were cruelly beaten by UJC delegates!

How can it be that one of your own constituent member groups, the UJC, could behave with such 'sinat chinam' - such causeless hatred towards fellow Jews who were, after all, only trying to bring to their attention the mitzvah of pidyan shvuyim? We sincerely hope that the Conference will make known to the executive of the UJC, its condemnation of their outrageous breach of Conference policy and of the brutality to which Pollard supporters were subjected. It would be fitting if the Conference were to send a formal apology to those unfortunate souls who were beaten up. The J4JP (Justice for Jonathan Pollard) office stands ready to assist in relaying your message.

LAKEWOOD -- Two Fridays ago, Rabbi Moshe Zev Weisberg gathered a flock of hand-chosen community leaders -- no one from the NAACP was invited -- to work together to eliminate racial and religious tensions in Lakewood. Recent news articles about the troubles in Lakewood made it seem like things were worse than they actually were, he said, flanked by Hispanic and black community leaders and white elected officials. Two weeks later, Lakewood is far from harmonious.

In fact, officials say, the township is plagued right now by acrimony among its residents. A delegation of seniors wants to secede to Dover and has hired an attorney to plead its case. Three swastikas were found almost two weeks ago spray-painted on Orthodox homes near Route 9. A fourth swastika was found on a neighborhood street sign at that time and just days after a rock was thrown at a synagogue door. And Wednesday night, firefighters responded to a fire on Pine Circle Boulevard and found swastikas carved into the drywall of a house under construction.

Authorities continue to investigate the incidents, but Committeeman Charles Cunliffe believes the acts are indicative of an escalating problem. "In 18, 19 years of living here, I don't recall anything like this happening," Cunliffe said. "That's not a good thing."Problem solvingLakewood's population in the 2000 Census was 60,352, and many of the state's racial, ethnic and religious communities number in the thousands there.

Orthodox Jewish leaders estimate their community's population at 30,000 to 40,000. The African-American population was 7,270 -- 12 percent -- and Hispanics numbered 8,935 -- 15 percent -- in the 2000 Census. The township also has thousands of undocumented immigrants, and 15,778 residents -- 26 percent -- are age 55 and older. Community and township leaders say the problems can be resolved if everyone comes together and earnestly talks to resolve the issues.

Mayor Marta Harrison and Committeeman-elect Meir Lichtenstein last week proposed a program called "Let's Talk" that would encourage informal, frank meetings among residents. The New Jersey Anti-Defamation League last week offered to moderate any community meetings.

Britons burn with hatred for gypsies

Picture this scene from a small town in southern England. A caravan with a family of gypsies painted in the windows and the numberplate PIKEYS is paraded through town to chants of "BURN THEM! BURN THEM!". The caravan is then incinerated as the locals, including most of the village children, watch on.

That was bonfire night at the village of Firle in East Essex on October 25. It is difficult to imagine a context in which such medieval scenes of race hatred could be played out in public, but fear and loathing of gypsies is considered socially acceptable by most of the British public.

People who consider themselves non-racist will happily refer to Britain's 200,000-plus Roma people as "pikeys" (piker was a 19th century slang word for tramp) and take time out to explain why gypsies are their own worst enemies. This usually centres on allegations of petty theft and complaints of common land left in a bad condition when the "travellers" are moved on. Not even Brad Pitt's star turn as a pugilistic pikey who loves his mum in Snatch could turn public opinion.

Despite their being recognised as an ethnic group by the 1988 Race Relations Act, discrimination against gypsies is also enshrined in legislation. The 1995 Criminal Justice Act empowers police to order people to leave common land if they are deemed to have damaged property (a stipulation open to wide interpretation). Authorities are also permitted to remove vehicles, which can be confiscated or crushed. The Act also removes from local councils the responsibility to provide sites for Roma people.

In June 2000, Britain was cited by the European Commission Against Racism for its forced evictions of gypsies. The commission also noted that gypsies suffered from discrimination and disadvantage in areas such as education, employment and housing. Britain is not alone in its discrimination against gypsies. Hatred and violence in Eastern Europe, where the bulk of the world's 4 million gypsies still live, became - if anything - worse after the collapse of communism. And so gypsies comprised a significant portion of the wave of emigration from former eastern bloc countries in the 1990s.

In Britain, this wave was greeted with tabloid-led hysteria. "We want to wash the dross down the drain," ranted the Dover Express while the BBC reported on then home secretary Jack Straw's efforts to warn off Czech gypsies.

NYPD ATTACKS PEACEFUL GATHERING AT BROOKLYN COMMUNITY SPACE

8 People Arrested at Benefit for Activist People of Color

Brooklyn, NY ­ People attending a fundraising event in Brooklyn were shocked early this morning by unprovoked and violent assault at the hands of the NYPD. Up to 100 people attending a fundraiser for activists of color were indiscriminately sprayed with chemical agents, beaten with nightsticks, and harassed by a throng of police officers. Witnesses say there was no cause for the assaults and the subsequent arrests following the melee.

Approximately 21 marked police vehicles arrived at The Critical Resistance office 968 Atlantic Avenue, the location of the fundraising event, at around 2AM, to investigate an officerıs report of someone standing outside the party allegedly holding an ³open container.² Within minutes, the police unleashed their wave of violence onto the crowd, provoking onlookers and beating down attendees who were not resisting their orders. Over 20 people were experiencing effects of the pepper spray that was erratically sprayed into the air by the officers. The officers were also attempting to take the event sign-in sheet.

All tenants of the private, residential building were present at the event, did not request police assistance, and no one in the building placed a complaint with the precinct or the emergency response system. Witnesses report that no warrant was presented upon police entrance. Organizers responded peacefully to police threats and physical provocation, and cooperated with police.

³I was stunned at the severity of the attack, and I am genuinely concerned for the safety and well-being of those who were unfairly detained and arrested,² said witness at the scene of the incident.

Legal council at the scene confirmed that at least 8 arrests were made. Preliminary charges include assault, inciting a riot, and resisting arrest. The 77th Precinct, which is where the arrestees were initially held, has been unwilling to provide even the smallest information about the status of those arrested. EMS visited the precinct to attend to those who sustained serious injuries, which include bruised ribs, a spinal injury, and sever blows to the head.

Critical Resistance is a national grassroots group that focuses on prisons and police brutality, and challenges the belief that policing, surveillance, imprisonment, and similar forms of control make our communities safer.

Former Ramat Gan chief rabbi found guilty of bribe taking

The former chief rabbi of Ramat Gan, Yitzhak Barda, was found guilty on Sunday of accepting bribes. Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court Judge Daniel Bari found the rabbi guilty of taking thousands of dollars in bribes from people who wished to convert to Judaism. In exchange, Barda referred the conversion candidates to a rabbi in France.

The ruling states that the conversion candidates were referred to Barda by a woman named Eva Tzror.

The defendant claimed during the trial that Tzror never passed on the full amount, paying him smaller amounts of NIS 400-500 to distribute to employees at the mikveh (ritual purification bath) who worked odd hours. The judge however ruled that Barda's version of events was not credible.

Barda did admit that he had sent 20-30 converts to a rabbi in Paris to speed along their conversion process, taking $2,500-3,000 from them as a "handling charge" and as payment to the French rabbi.

Government Makes It Official: Blame Scallions for Outbreak

Contaminated scallions, chopped up raw in salsa that was served free to every table at a Chi-Chi's restaurant in western Pennsylvania, almost certainly caused the large outbreak of hepatitis A in the region, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said yesterday.

Food preparation at the restaurant in Monaca, Pa., amplified the problem, LIKE TO HEAR MORE ABOUT THIS... health experts said. Bunches of scallions, also called green onions, were stored together in large buckets for five days or more with the ice they had been shipped in from Mexico. As a result, even if only some bunches were tainted with the hepatitis virus when they were delivered, it would have quickly spread to all the other scallions.

The ice water in the bucket became, essentially, "hepatitis soup," said Dr. Michael Osterholm, an epidemiologist at the University of Minnesota who has investigated many hepatitis outbreaks....

The outbreak, which has killed three people and made 575 other Chi-Chi's patrons sick, is the nation's biggest outbreak of hepatitis A from one source. The Chi-Chi's restaurant, now closed, is in the Beaver Valley Mall, about 25 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. The people who became ill ate there from mid-September to late October.

A preliminary investigation by the Food and Drug Administration indicates that the scallions came from Mexico. Genetic tests on viral samples from patients who ate at Chi-Chi's showed that the virus infecting them is very closely related to one isolated from victims of hepatitis A outbreaks caused by scallions in Tennessee and Georgia in September. In those cases, the scallions were traced to suppliers in Mexico.

The F.D.A. said yesterday that border inspectors were stopping scallion shipments from several Mexican suppliers. HA! HA! HA!

How the scallions became contaminated is not known. THEN HOW DO YOU EXPLAIN THE NEXT SENTENCE? Hepatitis A is spread by fecal matter from infected people -- WHY WE CALL THEM "MEXISHITS" --, particularly those who fail to wash their hands after using the restroom. MEXICANS ARE SHITSKINS, LITERALLY. The virus can survive in food, though it does not multiply outside the body.

The report by the disease control agency noted that children work on the scallion farms in Mexico, and would be especially likely to spread the virus. Hepatitis A is a common childhood disease in developing countries, LIKE THE UNITED STATES Dr. Osterholm said.

Children are far more likely to be infected than are adults because most adults in the developing world had the disease in childhood and became immune to it.

Sewage-contaminated water could also have been the culprit, whether it was used to irrigate the scallions or wash them in the field, or to make the ice used in shipping.

Rinsing at the restaurant did not remove the virus, possibly because fecal or viral particles stuck to the scallions or were trapped inside them. Scallions cannot be disinfected because it would take so much chlorine that they would become inedible, Dr. Osterholm said. The government has been advising consumers to avoid eating raw scallions, but they are safe if thoroughly cooked.

A Mind That Grasped Both Heaven and Hell

Forty years ago today, as the world mourned the assassination of an American president, the passing of the 20th century's most influential Christian writer was hardly noticed: Clive Staples Lewis, professor of English literature at Oxford and Cambridge, died on Nov. 22, 1963. In his ability to nurture the faithful, as well as seduce the skeptic, C. S. Lewis had no peer.

Lewis was an atheist for much of his adult life, an experience that may have helped immunize him from the religious cliché, the reluctance to ask hard questions, the self-righteousness of the zealot. "Mr. Lewis possesses the rare gift," according to an early reviewer, "of being able to make righteousness readable." Lewis was not a theologian, but he expressed even the most difficult religious concepts with bracing clarity. He was not a preacher, yet his essays and novels pierce the heart with their nobility and tenderness.

The lessons found within his writings continue to resonate today. In fact, it's hard to imagine a time when the need for sane thinking about religion was more momentous. Cite an act of terror, from the sniper shootings in Washington to the bombings in Baghdad and Istanbul, and faith is close at hand. Many are now tempted to equate piety with venality - or worse - and it's here that Lewis may have the most to teach us.

Born in 1898, Lewis reached maturity in the 1930's, when Europe was being convulsed by the rise of new tyrannies: communism in Russia and fascism in Spain, Italy and Germany. At the same time, trends in psychology and theology were discrediting Christian doctrines of sin and repentance. The "root causes" of international disorder were said to be social and political arrangements, like runaway capitalism or the flawed Treaty of Versailles. But Lewis, like his friend J. R. R. Tolkien, knew the trouble lay deeper, and marshaled his literary imagination to explore it.

In a harrowing scene from his science fiction novel "Perelandra," the protagonist, Prof. Elwin Ransom, battles a mad scientist horribly disfigured by his lust for power. Lewis writes: "What was before him appeared no longer a creature of corrupted will. It was corruption itself to which will was attached only as an instrument." The Christians, Lewis argued, were right: the mystery of evil was rooted in the tragedy of human nature. Pride, and the poisoned conscience it created, functioned as the engine of the world's woes. Unchallenged, it led to a "ruthless, sleepless, unsmiling concentration upon self, which is the mark of Hell."

Many modern liberals dismiss Lewis's concept of the diabolical as a "medieval" superstition. Yet many religious conservatives seem to make evil the brainchild of God himself. For them, all individual and social sin - including the terror of Sept. 11 - is the perfect will of a Divine Judge (as the Rev. Jerry Falwell claimed at the time). Lewis disagreed: Evil is always man's doing, yet it is never his destiny. The power of choice makes evil possible, but it's also "the only thing that makes possible any love or goodness or joy worth having."

While Oxford agnostics howled, Lewis gave BBC talks on theology that were a national sensation. Even his beloved children's stories, "The Chronicles of Narnia," ring with biblical themes of sin and redemption. No one did more to make "the repellent doctrines" of Christianity plausible to modern ears.

Nevertheless, Lewis acknowledged that religion easily becomes a device to exploit others - sometimes, as in the case of sexually abusive priests, at the very steps of the altar. The pretense of piety, he said, has left a record of violence that should shame every honest believer. "Of all bad men, religious bad men are the worst," he wrote in "Reflections on the Psalms."

Yet, unlike the cynic, Lewis refused to blame the faith itself for the shortcomings of the church. Instead, his writings offer bright glimpses into the moral beauty of divine goodness, what Lewis called "the weight of glory." It is this vision of the Holy, he observed, that has produced many of the masterpieces of art and music. This same vision motivates the faithful to risk everything to relieve the world's suffering: caring for plague victims, defending the rights of children, guiding slaves to freedom, breaching war zones to feed the poor.

"If you read history, you will find that the Christians who did most for the present world were just those who thought most of the next," he wrote in "Mere Christianity," one of his best-known works. "It is since Christians have largely ceased to think of the other world that they have become so ineffective in this." In an era when God himself seems to be on trial, that's a timely message - for the half-hearted pilgrim as well as the devoted doubter. Probably just what C. S. Lewis had in mind.

Anybody who has several sexual partners in a year is committing spiritual suicide. He or she is ripping the veil from all that is private and delicate in oneself, and pulverizing it in an assembly line of selfish sensations.

But marriage is the opposite. Marriage joins two people in a sacred bond. It demands that they make an exclusive commitment to each other and thereby takes two discrete individuals and turns them into kin.

Few of us work as hard at the vocation of marriage as we should. But marriage makes us better than we deserve to be. Even in the chores of daily life, married couples find themselves, over the years, coming closer together, fusing into one flesh. Married people who remain committed to each other find that they reorganize and deepen each other's lives. They may eventually come to the point when they can say to each other: "Love you? I am you."

Today marriage is in crisis. Nearly half of all marriages end in divorce. Worse, in some circles, marriage is not even expected. Men and women shack up for a while, produce children and then float off to shack up with someone else.

Marriage is in crisis because marriage, which relies on a culture of fidelity, is now asked to survive in a culture of contingency. Today, individual choice is held up as the highest value: choice of lifestyles, choice of identities, choice of cellphone rate plans. Freedom is a wonderful thing, but the culture of contingency means that the marriage bond, which is supposed to be a sacred vow till death do us part, is now more likely to be seen as an easily canceled contract.

Men are more likely to want to trade up, when a younger trophy wife comes along. Men and women are quicker to opt out of marriages, even marriages that are not fatally flawed, when their "needs" don't seem to be met at that moment.

Still, even in this time of crisis, every human being in the United States has the chance to move from the path of contingency to the path of marital fidelity - except homosexuals. Gays and lesbians are banned from marriage and forbidden to enter into this powerful and ennobling institution. A gay or lesbian couple may love each other as deeply as any two people, but when you meet a member of such a couple at a party, he or she then introduces you to a "partner," a word that reeks of contingency.

You would think that faced with this marriage crisis, we conservatives would do everything in our power to move as many people as possible from the path of contingency to the path of fidelity. But instead, many argue that gays must be banished from matrimony because gay marriage would weaken all marriage. A marriage is between a man and a woman, they say. It is women who domesticate men and make marriage work.

Well, if women really domesticated men, heterosexual marriage wouldn't be in crisis. In truth, it's moral commitment, renewed every day through faithfulness, that "domesticates" all people.

Some conservatives may have latched onto biological determinism (men are savages who need women to tame them) as a convenient way to oppose gay marriage. But in fact we are not animals whose lives are bounded by our flesh and by our gender. We're moral creatures with souls, endowed with the ability to make covenants, such as the one Ruth made with Naomi: "Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried."

The conservative course is not to banish gay people from making such commitments. It is to expect that they make such commitments. We shouldn't just allow gay marriage. We should insist on gay marriage. We should regard it as scandalous that two people could claim to love each other and not want to sanctify their love with marriage and fidelity.

When liberals argue for gay marriage, they make it sound like a really good employee benefits plan. Or they frame it as a civil rights issue, like extending the right to vote.

Marriage is not voting. It's going to be up to conservatives to make the important, moral case for marriage, including gay marriage. Not making it means drifting further into the culture of contingency, which, when it comes to intimate and sacred relations, is an abomination.

This week I've been reading one of the best books I've come across in some time: Libido Dominandi: Sexual Liberation and Political Control, by E. Michael Jones, sent as a gift by one of our great readers. It is a fantastic work. Think about, say, a Coors Light ad and you'll see what he means. Who benefits from your "boys night out"? Well, Coors, obviously. Beer is expensive. Time spent going out and drinking in bars may be fun, but it costs a lot of money, steals time you can't get back. Creates habits injurious to the drinker. If you hook up with those beautiful, willing women who, somehow, never seem to frequent bars as often as TV commercials imply, you'll end up with chlamydia and a broken heart, or 18 years of child support, invevitably. Sexual license leads to death. That simple. Radicals push sexual liberation to cover their own immoral behavior, and to control the people. But they can't escape the consequences of their actions, no one can. The result is always the same, suggesting there's a law at work, a moral law. Over and over and over, from Godwin and Wollstonecraft, to the Bolshevik radicals preaching emancipation of women through free love, to the perverts like Alf Kinsey sticking toothbrushes up their penises when they weren't molesting kids, butting your head against moral law does nothing but crack your skull. It leads to derangement, disease and death -- always. Jones traces the use of passion as the route to political control to Adam Weishaupt, the founder of Illuminism, and to world-historical sex-torture freak Marquis de Sade. Borrowing techniques from the Jesuits, Weishaupt created the tell-me-all, no-privacy model that fueled radicals from the French revolutionaries to the Bolsheviks, to the American progressives, to Freud and the psycotherapists, to behaviorists, and to the WASP foundations seeking 'scientific' means of controlling ethnic populations, to today's mass advertisers. All these folks drive off the same premise: man is an animal of reason, but he can be mislead by his passions, chief among which is the sexual passion. Be warned, White man. Modern religions such as Wicca, Scientology, Christian Science and Mormonism were all created by visionaries/kooks who wrote books that promised some benefit to their converts -- ancient mysteries revealed, the way to health and happiness, the real truth, etc. They offered a new way of life.

FRAMINGHAM -- Residents who were in the crowd for the first meeting of a local group opposed to illegal immigrants last week discounted the charges that civil rights were violated by the tone of the two-hour session. MetroWest Latin American Center Executive Director Nancy Morse wrote a letter to selectmen this week, saying the Nov. 13 get-together of the Concerned Citizens and Friends of Immigration Law Enforcement "resulted in inflaming an environment of hostility towards Brazilians and other immigrants."

She asked the town to investigate if any law was broken at the meeting hosted by a part-time town employee and to subpoena any materials and videos "that communicate harassment and intimidate or coerce individuals to harm the immigrant population." "They may be a little rough in how they're speaking, but they're not trying to create any violence," said Mal Schulze, who was at the CCFILE meeting but left before it was over. "I just went to see who would be there and where they were coming from. It wasn't something I was hopping on and joining. (I left early because) I had had enough already," he said.

Dave Hutchinson also went to the meeting as an observer, he said. Hutchinson was preparing for a local cable forum on illegal immigrants and got Jeff Buck, CCFILE's co-founder, and Harold Wolfe, who also attended, to be on the show. Wolfe has been critical of the Police Department's handling of illegal immigrants, and is pushing the selectmen to address the problem. He doesn't understand why Morse, who wasn't at CCFILE's meeting, is so upset. "They never created a hostile environment for anyone," he said. "I guess now it's illegal to talk about illegal immigrants." Hutchinson's panel also included News editorial page editor Rick Holmes and local lawyer Jim Espinosa.

"I just sat there (at the CCFILE meeting) and made some notes," said Hutchinson. "I used some of the questions for cable. I didn't go on their mailing list and I sat in the back of the room so I could be out of the way. "They presented what they wanted to present. Maybe it was in the way that it was presented (that has residents upset now). (CCFILE co-founder) Joe (Rizoli) got a little emotional," Hutchinson said. Rizoli's declaration that Framingham was being "raped" by immigrants and said some immigrants treated town as if it were "the Wild West" marked the emotionally charged presentation.

Schulze will not join CCFILE, but he does believe they had some good points. "Illegal aliens do not belong in this country. Period," he said. "The end result, if I could wave a wand, is they're not here. "If you want to be here, come here legally. They may be good people, but they're breaking the law. They're costing this nation billions of dollars in health care, education, and so on," he said. Hutchinson didn't back the group's views, and wondered if they planned to offer solutions to what they considered the problem. "What are you going to do if you don't agree (with how police deal with the illegal immigrant population)?" he asked.

Selectmen sent the letter to Town Counsel Chris Petrini, who will determine if any civil rights violations took place at the meeting at the library. Petrini expects to weigh in on the matter by mid-December, he said. "I would hope it wouldn't take an undue amount of time," said Petrini. Rizoli, who videotapes Planning Board meetings for the town, said three people have asked to join the group since its first meeting last week. His group is targeting illegal immigrants who commit documentation fraud, he said. The group is seeking legal immigrants "who have gone through the arduous legal process to becoming American citizens," he said in a letter to the News this week.

JERUSALEM ‹ The giant Caterpillar bulldozer, used by the Israeli military to destroy Palestinian homes in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, now comes with a controversial new feature: remote control. Israel says its remote-control technology will lower risks to soldiers. But Palestinians fear it will lead to more frequent raids using the machines and make the three-year conflict even bloodier.

The remote-controlled D-9 bulldozer and a remote-control version of the Humvee, equipped with machine guns, were developed by the Israeli army and the Technion Institute of Technology. Both machines are U.S.-made, with Israeli modifications. They are expected to go into service in the next few weeks. The army refused to comment or reveal further details about the new equipment. Israel has been a pioneer in unmanned weapons systems for nearly three decades, developing one of the first remote-controlled planes and more recently creating machine guns and grenade launchers that can be fired from afar. The weapons are equipped with cameras, so their operators can see what they are doing.

Describing a day of field trials, a Technion statement quoted an Israeli army officer as asserting the thousands of dollars invested in each machine would save lives. "Today the bulldozer drivers are exposed to great danger when they knock down buildings that have militants hiding in them," the statement quoted the officer as saying. But Palestinian Cabinet Minister Saeb Erekat warned the unmanned machines would lead to even more Palestinian deaths. "The whole idea is despicable," he said. "If an unmanned bulldozer is used, human life is in much greater danger," Erekat said. The Israeli military regularly demolishes suicide bombers' homes and other buildings militants are suspected of using for cover to attack Israelis.

For Palestinians, the name D-9 has become synonymous with destruction. The gray, heavily armored machines, which stand as tall as a small house, already have turned hundreds of buildings into dusty rubble heaps and ancient olive groves into wastelands with their powerful shovel blades. Israeli commentator Nahum Barnea has called them "the terrifying beast of this war." The D-9 gained notoriety in the weeklong battle between soldiers and Palestinian militants in the Jenin refugee camp in April 2002, one of the fiercest in the past three years. Rumsfeld said in a speech to U.S. troops at an American air base in South Korea on Tuesday that "people in the North, repressed people to be sure, watch their children waste away, eat bark, as that evil regime spends huge sums on weapons."

As many as one million of North Korea's 22 million people are estimated by experts to have died from famine over the past decade. Dependent on outside food aid, the North spends about 30 percent of gross domestic product on its military, the world's fifth largest. TIFTON, Georgia -- Achievement test score gaps between ethnic groups showed up at all grade levels of groups taking tests this fall in local schools, Tift County School Superintendent Harold Abbott told Chamber of Commerce members Thursday.

Tift County students in grades three, five and seven took the Iowa Test of Basic Skills earlier this year, Abbott said. Averaged together, most of the overall scores were at grade level or better, but the gaps showed up in third grade and grew with the grade level.

In third grade, African-American students scored 2.7 (second year, seventh month) in reading, 3 in language and 2.7 in math. Caucasian/white students in third grade scored 3.7, 3.6 and 3.4 in the same areas, while Hispanic/Latino children scored 2.4, 3 and 3.

KIEV, Ukraine - Increased international recognition of a forced famine that killed up to 10 million Ukrainians brought bittersweet relief Saturday to elderly survivors marking the 70th anniversary of a dark chapter in the history of Soviet communism.

Gathering at a cathedral in the now independent Ukraine, survivors recalled their desperation during a famine historians say was provoked by Soviet dictator Josef Stalin as part of his campaign to force peasants to give up their land and join collective farms.

"This year is of particular significance for Ukraine, because the world has recognized the crime against the Ukrainian people," said E. Morgan Williams, senior adviser of the U.S.-Ukraine Foundation.

Two weeks ago, some 30 countries signed a joint statement to commemorate the memory of the millions of men, women and children who suffered because of the "cruel actions and policies of the totalitarian regime in the former Soviet Union." The U.N. statement became the first, significant international recognition of the famine, which was denied by the Soviets for decades.

Marking the day set by the government as an annual memorial for the famine, some 2,000 people gathered at the golden-domed St. Michael Cathedral in the capital Kiev to light candles at a memorial dedicated to the victims, estimated at between 7 and 10 million. Dozens of elderly survivors, many leaning on crutches, were helped by younger relatives as they shuffled under flags with black ribbons and the cathedral's bells chimed in mourning. "My grandfather cut and dried loafs of bread and hid them in sacks to his dying day many years after the famine," said Lidia Kolysnichenko, 67, from the village of Irpin near Kiev.

Historians say that Stalin deliberately provoked the famine by having harvests taken out of Ukraine and having secret police confiscate whatever scarce grain reserves farmers tried to hide. Even according to the most conservative figures, some 25,000 people died every day in Ukraine, or 17 people every minute, in 1933. Cases of cannibalism were widespread. "Our neighbor killed his wife, dismembered her body and was seen to make soup of her," said 82-year old Volodymyr Pianov, his hand trembling. "It was not the only case when people ate each other in our village."

His village of Kriuchki in the eastern Kharkiv region, one of area's most devastated by the famine, died out almost entirely. Earlier this year, Ukraine declassified more than 1,000 files documenting the famine, and Ukraine's President Leonid Kuchma signed a law establishing a day of remembrance for famine victims. In a related development, the Pulitzer Prize Board said Friday it would not revoke a prize awarded in 1932 to a reporter for The New York Times who was accused of deliberately ignoring the famine in Ukraine to preserve his access to Stalin.

The Pulitzer board said there was not clear evidence of deliberate deception.

Walter Duranty covered the Soviet Union for the Times from 1922 to 1941, earning acclaim for an exclusive 1929 interview with Stalin. Duranty was later criticized for reporting the Communist line rather than the facts. The board's decision was immediately criticized by Ukrainian groups, who sent more than 15,000 letters and postcards to the Pulitzer committee demanding the prize be withdrawn. "We certainly will continue to press for revocation," said Victoria Hubska of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America." "Duranty misled international community. The lie should be punished."

A black city schoolgirl was allegedly partially stripped, dragged by the hair, stabbed and beaten in an apparent racial attack by a white fellow pupil helped by her boyfriend and her mother, as schoolmates looked on.

The assault took place outside Edgemead High School on Thursday, and on Friday principal Malcolm Venter said he had launched an investigation. police are also investigating. Grade 9 pupil Nosipho Mkhize, 16, was apparently waiting for a lift home outside the school in Letchworth Street when she saw a coloured pupil being insulted by a white girl from the school, her boyfriend and her mother.

But when Nosipho intervened, the tormentors turned on her and launched their horrific attack. She said white pupils had stood and watchedHer mother, Vicky Mkhize, said: "Poor Nosipho was dragged to the school tennis court by her hair.

"As other pupils watched, she was beaten, kicked in the face and stabbed in the cheek by the woman with a car key. The woman told my daughter she was a black kaffir and she should go back to the townships where she belonged. "And then - this is extraordinary - the white girl pulled her panties down and defecated on Nosipho while the boyfriend pinned my daughter down." Venter then came out to see what was happening.

"But he treated Nosipho's attackers like the victims and just sent them off. He had no sympathy for Nosipho, who was shocked and dazed." The school was looking into itNosipho's elder sister, Mbali, 28, helped her sister into the school where Venter's wife, Morag Venter, the school psychologist, saw her. "The school refused to report the attack to the police. All that she was told was that there would be a meeting about the incident today and that Nosipho could not attend."

She said white pupils had stood and watched the attack on her and had done nothing to help her. "When Nosipho tried to jot down the registration number of the white family's car, children tried to block her view by standing in front of her." On Friday, a bewildered and upset Nosipho said she did not know why they had attacked her.

She did not know the girl and had not spoken to her before. "I feel terrible, I'm hurting, and I don't know what their problem is."

Vicky Mkhize said she had written to Venter about the racial problem earlier in the year, when Nosipho complained of being verbally abused by white pupils, but there had been no response. In a statement read to the Cape Argus by Venter early today, he said he could not comment on the incident as it had occurred after school hours. The school was looking into it. "It would be irresponsible to comment further until we have heard both sides of the story and gathered information from onlookers." Vicky and Nosipho Mkhize reported the attack to Bothasig police on Thursday night.

I was shocked and saddened to hear the news about the terrorist attacks on Jewish places of worship and education in Turkey. Dozens of innocent people were going about their normal life, praying, meeting, taking care of their families, educating and entertaining their kids, and suddenly ‹ boom! All goes up in fire, smoke and blood. In minutes the world you know is suddenly a sad memory, and the new world is full of fear, anger and tragedy. Sound familiar? Unfortunately, it is becoming too familiar. Even in places unused to such terrible tragedies like Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. Terrorists seem incapable of distinguishing between what is consistent with their stated principles and what is total nonsense. How would the killing of an innocent person serve a cause, any cause?

What support can the scenes of carnage, of the scattered and burned bodies of women and children, offer to a message, any message? Why would the governments of Russia, the US and Israel, or gang leaders of Al-Qaeda, the IRA, KKK, Hindu militants and Jewish settlers order the bombing and burning of civilian neighborhoods, markets and places of worship? Who are they trying to satisfy and appease? What benefits and public relations goals do they hope to achieve? How can educated, sophisticated and enlightened leaders of established democracies and great civilizations compete in the same dirty arena with lowlife, heartless, insane psychopaths?

When American bombers target Afghan and Iraqi mosques, wedding parties, and Bedouin convoys on unverified tip-offs that there are wanted persons there, when Sharon uses American-made F16 and Apaches to hit buildings, streets and homes to assassinate Palestinian leaders, when Putin treats the whole of Chechnya as a practicing ground for killing, burning and destruction, where is the distinction between legitimate law-abiding governments and illegitimate lawless bandits? How can the public then be convinced that the ways of the bad guys are wrong, if the supposedly good guys are doing the same thing the same way?

As a writer, I am supposed to explain to my readers, not to add to their confusion. But the world of terror is so confused and confusing that asking questions may pass as a step toward better understanding. So, let's keep asking and demanding answers. The doers of evil owe us, at the very least, logical if not acceptable explanations. On behalf of all good, true Muslims, I offer my wholehearted condolences to the families of the victims in the Turkish attacks, Jewish and Muslim alike. My heart goes out to every mother and father, sister and brother, daughter and son. I would also like them to know that whoever did this does not represent Islam, Arabs or any decent human being. On June 4, 1963, a little known attempt was made to strip the Federal Reserve Bank of its power to loan money to the government at interest. On that day President John F. Kennedy signed Executive Order No. 11110 that returned to the U.S. government the power to issue currency, without going through the Federal Reserve. Mr. Kennedy's order gave the Treasury the power "to issue silver certificates against any silver bullion, silver, or standard silver dollars in the Treasury." This meant that for every ounce of silver in the U.S. Treasury's vault, the government could introduce new money into circulation. In all, Kennedy brought nearly $4.3 billion in U.S. notes into circulation. The ramifications of this bill are enormous.

With the stroke of a pen, Mr. Kennedy was on his way to putting the Federal Reserve Bank of New York out of business. If enough of these silver certificats were to come into circulation they would have eliminated the demand for Federal Reserve notes. This is because the silver certificates are backed by silver and the Federal Reserve notes are not backed by anything. Executive Order 11110 could have prevented the national debt from reaching its current level, because it would have given the gevernment the ability to repay its debt without going to the Federal Reserve and being charged interest in order to create the new money. Executive Order 11110 gave the U.S. the ability to create its own money backed by silver.

After Mr. Kennedy was assassinated just five months later, no more silver certificates were issued. The Final Call has learned that the Executive Order was never repealed by any U.S. President through an Executive Order and is still valid. Why then has no president utilized it? Virtually all of the nearly $6 trillion in debt has been created since 1963, and if a U.S. president had utilized Executive Order 11110 the debt would be nowhere near the current level. Perhaps the assassination of JFK was a warning to future presidents who would think to eliminate the U.S. debt by eliminating the Federal Reserve's control over the creation of money. Mr. Kennedy challenged the government of money by challenging the two most successful vehicles that have ever been used to drive up debt - war and the creation of money by a privately-owned central bank. His efforts to have all troops out of Vietnam by 1965 and Executive Order 11110 would have severely cut into the profits and control of the New York banking establishment. As America's debt reaches unbearable levels and a conflict emerges in Bosnia that will further increase America's debt, one is force to ask, will President Clinton have the courage to consider utilizing Executive Order 11110 and, ifso, is he willing to pay the ultimate price for doing so?

Money possesses no value to the State other than that given to it by circulation.

Capital has its proper place and is entitled to every protection. The wages of men should be recognised in the structure of and in the social order as more important than the wages of money.

No duty is more imperative for the Government than the duty it owes the People to furnish them with a sound and uniform currency, and of regulating the circulation of the medium of exchange so that labour will be protected from a vicious currency, and commerce will be facilitated by cheap and safe exchanges.

The available supply of Gold and Silver being wholly inadequate to permit the issuance of coins of intrinsic value or paper currency convertible into coin in the volume required to serve the needs of the People, some other basis for the issue of currency must be developed, and some means other than that of convertibility into coin must be developed to prevent undue fluctuation in the value of paper currency or any other substitute for money of intrinsic value that may come into use.

The monetary needs of increasing numbers of People advancing towards higher standards of living can and should be met by the Government. Such needs can be served by the issue of National Currency and Credit through the operation of a National Banking system .The circulation of a medium of exchange issued and backed by the Government can be properly regulated and redundancy of issue avoided by withdrawing from circulation such amounts as may be necessary by Taxation, Redeposit, and otherwise. Government has the power to regulate the currency and creditof the Nation.

Government should stand behind its currency and credit and the Bank deposits of the Nation. No individual should suffer a loss of money through depreciation or inflated currency or Bank bankruptcy.

Government possessing the power to create and issue currency and creditas money and enjoying the right to withdraw both currency and credit from circulation by Taxation and otherwise need not and should not borrow capital at interest as a means of financing Governmental work and public enterprise. The Government should create, issue, and circulate all the currency and credit needed to satisfy the spending power of the Government and the buying power of the consumers. The privilege of creating and issueing money is not only the supreme prerogative of Government, but it is the Governments greatest creative opportunity.

By the adoption of these principles the long felt want for a uniform medium will be satisfied. The taxpayers will be saved immense sums of interest, discounts, and exchanges. The financing of all public enterprise, the maintenance of stable Government and ordered progress, and the conduct of the Treasury will become matters of practical administration. The people can and will be furnished with a currency as safe as their own Government. Money will cease to be master and become the servant of humanity. Democracy will rise superior to the money power.

Some information on the Federal Reserve The Federal Reserve, a Private Corporation One of the most common concerns among people who engage in any effort to reduce their taxes is, "Will keeping my money hurt the government's ability to pay it's bills?" As explained in the first article in this series, the modern withholding tax does not, and wasn't designed to, pay for government services. What it does do, is pay for the privately-owned Federal Reserve System.

Black's Law Dictionary defines the "Federal Reserve System" as, "Network of twelve central banks to which most national banks belong and to which state chartered banks may belong. Membership rules require investment of stock and minimum reserves."

Privately-owned banks own the stock of the Fed. This was explained in more detail in the case of Lewis v. United States, Federal Reporter, 2nd Series, Vol. 680, Pages 1239, 1241 (1982), where the court said:

Each Federal Reserve Bank is a separate corporation owned by commercial banks in its region. The stock-holding commercial banks elect two thirds of each Bank's nine member board of directors.

Similarly, the Federal Reserve Banks, though heavily regulated, are locally controlled by their member banks. Taking another look at Black's Law Dictionary, we find that these privately owned banks actually issue money:

Federal Reserve Act. Law which created Federal Reserve banks which act as agents in maintaining money reserves, issuing money in the form of bank notes, lending money to banks, and supervising banks. Administered by Federal Reserve Board (q.v.).

The FED banks, which are privately owned, actually issue, that is, create, the money we use. In 1964 the House Committee on Banking and Currency, Subcommittee on Domestic Finance, at the second session of the 88th Congress, put out a study entitled Money Facts which contains a good description of what the FED is:

The Federal Reserve is a total money-making machine.It can issue money or checks. And it never has a problem of making its checks good because it can obtain the $5 and $10 bills necessary to cover its check simply by asking the Treasury Department's Bureau of Engraving to print them.

As we all know, anyone who has a lot of money has a lot of power. Now imagine a group of people who have the power to create money. Imagine the power these people would have. This is what the Fed is.

No man did more to expose the power of the Fed than Louis T. McFadden, who was the Chairman of the House Banking Committee back in the 1930s. Constantly pointing out that monetary issues shouldn't be partisan, he criticized both the Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt administrations. In describing the Fed, he remarked in the Congressional Record, House pages 1295 and 1296 on June 10, 1932, that:

Mr. Chairman,we have in this country one of the most corrupt institutions the world has ever known. I refer to the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal reserve banks. The Federal Reserve Board, a Government Board, has cheated the Government of the United States and he people of the United States out of enoughmoney to pay the national debt. The depredations and the iniquities of the Federal Reserve Board and the Federal reserve banks acting together have cost this country enough money to pay the national debt several times over. This evil institution has impoverished and ruined the people of the UnitedStates; has bankrupted itself, and has practically bankrupted our Government. It has done this through the maladministration of that law by which the Federal Reserve Board, and through the corrupt practices of the moneyed vultures who control it.

Some people think the Federal reserve banks are United States Government institutions. They are not Government institutions. They are private credit monopolies which prey upon the people of the United States for the benefit of themselves and their foreign customers; foreign and domestic speculators and swindlers; and rich and predatory money lenders. In that dark crew of financial pirates there are those who would cut a man's throat to get a dollar out of his pocket; there are those who send money into States to buy votes to control our legislation; and there are those who maintain an international propaganda for the purpose of deceiving us and of wheedling us into the granting of new concessions which will permit them to cover up their past misdeeds and set again in motion their gigantic train of crime. Those 12 private credit monopolies were deceitfully and disloyally foisted upon this country by bankers who camehere from Europe and who repaid us for our hospitality by undermining our American institutions.

The Fed basically works like this: The government granted its power to create money to the Fed banks. They create money, then loan it back to the government charging interest. The government levies income taxes to pay the interest on the debt. On this point, it's interesting to note that the Federal Reserve act and the sixteenth amendment, which gave congress the power to collect income taxes, were both passed in 1913. The incredible power of the Fed over the economy is universally admitted. Some people, especially in the banking and academic communities, even support it. On the other hand, there are those, both in the past and in the present, that speak out against it. One of these men was President John F. Kennedy. His efforts were detailed in Jim Marrs' 1990 book, Crossfire:

Another overlooked aspect of Kennedy's attempt to reform American society involves money. Kennedy apparently reasoned that by returning to the constitution, which states that only Congress shall coin and regulate money, the soaring national debt could be reduced by not paying interest to the bankers of the Federal Reserve System, who print paper money then loan it to the government at interest. He moved in this area on June 4, 1963, by signing Executive Order 11,110 which called for the issuance of $4,292,893,815 in United States Notes through the U.S. Treasury rather than the traditional Federal Reserve System. That same day, Kennedy signed a bill changing the backing of one and two dollar bills from silver to gold, adding strength to the weakened U.S. currency.

Kennedy's comptroller of the currency, James J. Saxon, had been at odds with the powerful Federal Reserve Board for some time, encouraging broader investment and lending powers for banks that were not part of the Federal Reserve system. Saxon also had decided that non-Reserve banks could underwrite state and local general obligation bonds, again weakening the dominant Federal Reserve banks.

A number of "Kennedy bills" were indeed issued - the author has a five dollar bill in his possession with the heading "United States Note" - but were quickly withdrawn after Kennedy's death. According to information from the Library of the Comptroller of the Currency, Executive Order 11,110 remains in effect today, although successive administrations beginning with that of President Lyndon Johnson apparently have simply ignored it and instead returned to the practice of paying interest on Federal Reserve notes. Today we continue to use Federal Reserve Notes, and the deficit is at an all-time high.

The point being made is that the IRS taxes you pay aren't used for government services. It won't hurt you, or the nation, to legally reduce or eliminate your tax liability.

Gen. Tommy Franks says that if the United States is hit with a weapon of mass destruction that inflicts large casualties, the Constitution will likely be discarded in favor of a military form of government.

Franks, who successfully led the U.S. military operation to liberate Iraq, expressed his worries in an extensive interview he gave to the men's lifestyle magazine Cigar Aficionado.

In the magazine's December edition, the former commander of the military's Central Command warned that if terrorists succeeded in using a weapon of mass destruction (WMD) against the U.S. or one of our allies, it would likely have catastrophic consequences for our cherished republican form of government.

Discussing the hypothetical dangers posed to the U.S. in the wake of Sept. 11, Franks said that "the worst thing that could happen" is if terrorists acquire and then use a biological, chemical or nuclear weapon that inflicts heavy casualties.

If that happens, Franks said, ". . . the Western world, the free world, loses what it cherishes most, and that is freedom and liberty we've seen for a couple of hundred years in this grand experiment that we call democracy."

Franks then offered "in a practical sense" what he thinks would happen in the aftermath of such an attack.

"It means the potential of a weapon of mass destruction and a terrorist, massive, casualty-producing event somewhere in the Western world­­it may be in the United States of America­­ that causes our population to question our own Constitution and to begin to militarize our country in order to avoid a repeat of another mass, casualty-producing event. Which in fact, then begins to unravel the fabric of our Constitution. Two steps, very, very important."

Franks didn't speculate about how soon such an event might take place.

Already, critics of the U.S. Patriot Act, rushed through Congress in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks, have argued that the law aims to curtail civil liberties and sets a dangerous precedent.

But Franks' scenario goes much further. He is the first high-ranking official to openly speculate that the Constitution could be scrapped in favor of a military form of government.

The usually camera-shy Franks retired from U.S. Central Command, known in Pentagon lingo as CentCom, in August 2003, after serving nearly four decades in the Army.

Franks made his mark as a top commander during the U.S.'s successful Operation Desert Storm, which liberated Kuwait in 1991. He was in charge of CentCom when Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda attacked the United States on Sept. 11.

The origin of the Christmas Stollen:

Some more of my education attempts about European traditions around Christmas. Many of you have seen or even tasted a "Stollen", a traditional Christmas cake, offered by European American bakeries and import stores.

The Stollen belongs, as experienced bakers and pastry-chefs know, into the category of bread. To be exact "Gebildebroten." These are baked goods that are supposed to assemble a form or a figure. The Stollen has been for many centuries made in the form of the Christ-child, wrapped in cloths.

The first Stollen was baked in Sachsen, around the year 1300. And, believe it or not, in most part, after 700 years, the Stollen has not changed much. Originally, wheat flour was used, and Rueb oil was used to bake it. However, the oil created havoc in the stomachs of people. So, around 1470, Kurfuersten Ernst and Herzog Albrecht made a law that only pure butter shall be used to make Stollen. So, the Stollen bakery became better and better.

However, the Stollen received it's high, when for the first time the first Dresden Christmas Market was held. The market is still held every year today. The Stollen received its fine tuning by using raw marzipan as ingredient. Since the 16th Century, Dresden has the edge on the most delicious Christmas Stollen in the world. But Dresden became also famous for another delicious Christmas baked good. Around the 17th Century, the "Spekulatius" was invented. Today, Dresden produces the most delicious Stollen anywhere.

If you were wondering if this is the same Dresden that was bombed into oblivion on February 13th, 1945 - yes, it is.

One can find the distortions by some American bakeries, concerning the Stollen. With Christmas being changed to "holiday", many have changed the "Christmas Stollen" to "Holiday Stollen." Despite that this bread is made in the image of the Christ Child and only served on Christmas.

I already made four Christmas Stollen, because they have to sit for at least 2 1/2 weeks until ready to be sliced. You can buy Stollen in any good European American bakery or at Costplus, an import chain.

I read with interest your "Both Ways" piece commenting upon Clyde Wilson's article on German immigration 1848-1860. Although I have crossed swords with Wilson, I have to say that he is half right. The so-called "forty-eighters" were indeed radicals and abolitionists. However, there were, even in that era, some good Germans coming in. Many were conservative Lutherans who were being forced to take Holy Communion with Calvinistic Protestants by various German states at the time and left German lands rather than compromise their theology. After 1860 almost all the Germans entering the US were very conservative, hard-working and good citizens.

Every ethnic group has a few bad apples, we Germans have the "forty-eighters," but on the whole, I think German-Americans have done more good than evil. Readers of Mein Kampf will recall Hitler's pride in the accomplishments of Germans in America and I think Uncle Adolph was correct in his assessment.

World-renowned Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal has helped bring some closure to the families of the millions murdered during the Holocaust by bringing nearly 1,100 Nazis to justice.

Marty Rosen, the personal attorney for Wiesenthal and the founding trustee of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, addressed 100 local Holocaust survivors and 30 eighth-grade Brandeis School students last Thursday morning at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) of the Greater Five Towns in Cedarhurst.

Rosen, a Hewlett Harbor resident, said that if it weren't for justice-seekers like Wiesenthal, many Nazis would be living freely and would never have been brought to trial. This man proves that one person in this great cruel world can make a big difference if he really wants to, he said.

Rosen, who was mayor of Lawrence from 1976 to 1980, pointed out that although Wiesenthal was successful in catching 1,100 Nazis, many were able to get away. Eleven hundred is a lot, but it's really a little when you think of the thousands and thousands who got away and some live to this day but it's better than nothing, he said. [The jew writing this story was obviously getting hysterical.]

Rosen first got involved in Wiesenthal's quest to catch Nazis when the Holocaust survivor had plans to close his center in Vienna, Austria, in 1965 and one of Rosen's close friends urged him not to. His friend gave Wiesenthal the money he needed to keep the center afloat.

With the assistance of Rosen, the United States Simon Wiesenthal Center opened in 1977. The center is headquartered in Los Angeles and maintains offices in New York, Toronto, Miami, Jerusalem, Paris and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Rosen said Wiesenthal's work isn't about revenge, but rather about justice." Justice means the arrest, the trial, the publicity, the incarceration or the hanging, whatever the case may be, and letting the children know and the people in the world know, Rosen said of Wiesenthal's attitude toward searching for Nazis. There are many Nazi hunters that you may read about, but there was only one Nazi hunter, because had he not kept [the cause] alive all this time, it almost would have been history, and none of the trials, none of the operations and none of the knowledge that we now have would mean anything except in memory in your minds.

Rosen spoke about how the Jews in the U.S. have a lot more political power than they had during the Holocaust, when there were only two Jews in the U.S. House of Representatives and none in the Senate. Today there are 34 Jews in the House and 11 Jewish senators. We can all rest a little easier today, said Rosen of the increased amount of Jewish representation in Washington.

The speech was very moving to the many local Holocaust survivors who were on hand. I am a survivor myself, but I think it was very informative for people who are not survivors, said Grace Schwarzberg of Lawrence. It's the best speech I have heard on the subject. He really put it all together.

I liked hearing about what Simon Wiesenthal did because he is a wonderful person, said Laura Greenbaum of Lawrence.

I really enjoyed listening to him, added Celia Bernstein of Cedarhurst. He has done a lot for survivors.

Rosen's speech was made in observance of the 65th anniversary of Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, which marked the beginning of the Holocaust. The event was also part of the JCC of the Greater Five Towns' efforts to educate today's young people about tolerance, acceptance and history through interaction with seniors. About 300 local Holocaust survivors attend weekly gatherings at the community center.

FRAMINGHAM -- The phone at the small studio of the Brazilian radio show "Bem Vivir" (Come to Life) didn't stop ringing.

During one hour, between 1 and 2 p.m. on Thursday, Brazilians called the radio program, run by a Brazilian church, to have their say about the main topic of conversation in town these days. "The news of an anti-immigrant group has brought concern to the community," said Pastor Elias Meireles of the Brazilian Renewed Baptist Church, introducing the topic to his listeners. "What struck me the most is that they said Brazilians are doing harm to Framingham, that we're destroying Framingham. That's nonsense."

Callers to Meireles's show reacted strongly. "If someone breaks the law, they can't generalize and say we all break the law," said a caller. "We're people who work hard and suffer a lot." "We're here to work," said another caller. "We want to legalize our situation. We're praying for that to happen, and we'll pray for those who oppose us."

It was one of the many ways Brazilians found to express their feelings of frustration at the comments made last week by Joe Rizoli, co-founder of Concerned Citizens and Friends of Immigration Law Enforcement, a group that opposes illegal immigration. At the meeting attended by 12 people, Rizoli said that Framingham was being "raped" by immigrants and said some immigrants treated the town as if it were "the Wild West." Others on hand at the meeting said Brazilian immigrants drain the local economy by sending thousands of dollars in wages each month back to Brazil and tapping social programs for support.

At Thursday night's Board of Selectmen meeting, Nancy Morse, executive director of the MetroWest Latin American Center, asked selectmen to investigate whether the group broke civil rights laws with some of its comments, particularly if those comments "coerce individuals to harm the immigrant population." Town Counsel Chris Petrini said he is looking into the matter. Jeffrey Buck and Rizoli, CCFILE co-directors, said they started the group because they were concerned about how illegal immigrants were breaking the laws. They also said their group is not racist and doesn't target Brazilian immigrants.

"As an American citizen, we're concerned about the well-being of our community," said Buck. "American citizens, native and naturalized, and legal immigrants who are coming here should respect our legal system." "It just so happens that the largest group of illegal aliens in this community are Brazilians," said Buck. "If we were in Dorchester, it'd be Irish."

"According to sources in the Brazilian community, 90 percent of the Brazilian community here is illegal," said Rizoli. "I think that's conservative. I think 98 percent is illegal." Across Brazilian stores, churches and civic organizations, the sentiment was outrage. For many Brazilian business owners, the group fails to recognize the contributions Brazilians have made to the local economy.

"Ten years ago, downtown was filled with thefts, drug dealers and prostitutes," said Elias Fernandes, who owns the Brazilian bakery on Concord Street. "Brazilians came and revived downtown. Look at downtown, there isn't an empty spot here. We saved downtown Framingham, we didn't rape it." Vera Dias Freitas, board chairwoman for Framingham's Brazilian American Association and owner of a downtown jewelry store, agrees.

"We have filled up empty and abandoned buildings and made a beautiful marketplace," said Dias Freitas. "Brazilians are helping rebuilding downtown. We're working hard to make a living and make a better world for everyone. We need to remember what God said, 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.'" Brazilian community leaders worry the new group could lead to a wave of anti-immigrant sentiment and that its emergence is moved by racial prejudices against Brazilian immigrants. "People are afraid," said Fausto Da Rocha, director of the Brazilian Immigrant Center in Allston. "This is a hate group that reminds us of the Ku Klux Klan. People fear they could start attacking and killing us. I hope local authorities keep an eye on this group."

Pastor Murilo Crispin Dasilva of the Brazilian Philadelphia Baptist Church feels the same way. "There is a paranoia after Sept. 11," said Dasilva. "The group makes generalizations. Not all Brazilians are illegals. If half a dozen people commit crimes, that doesn't mean they're all criminals." Immigrant advocates are planning to hold a meeting to debate the emergence of the Framingham group and quell the fears among the Brazilian community. Others see no reason to be afraid.

"This is the first time I heard something negative about the Brazilian presence in Framingham," said Mauricio Cortes Costa, consul general of Brazil in Boston. "My impression is that the large majority of people in Framingham and MetroWest not only likes immigrants, but to a large extent, depends on immigrants. They are not only welcome, they're essential to the economy. I believe the feelings of this group are hardly representative of Framingham."

In his radio program, Meireles defended the role of the Brazilian churches and called for tolerance. "As a church, we cannot deny help to those who are illegal," said Meireles. "We don't ask those who knock on our doors if they have a green card or not. We help everyone regardless of their color, race or immigration status. We need to learn to be more tolerant of each other. Let's tolerate those who don't understand the immigrants' plight."

WASHINGTON - Congress moved significantly closer to the first-ever federal protections against unwanted commercial e-mails with the House passing a bill Saturday that would impose new limits on sending irritating offers on the Internet. Final approval by lawmakers could come before Thanksgiving.

  The measure would outlaw the shadiest techniques used by many of the Internet's most prolific e-mailers and include penalties up to five years in prison in rare circumstances.

But it also would supplant even tougher anti-spam laws already passed in some states, including a California law scheduled to take effect Jan. 1.

Passed on a 392-5 vote, the House bill largely mirrors "Can Spam" legislation the Senate approved last month. Supporters hoped slight differences between the two measures could be resolved before Congress adjourns for the year. The Bush administration has supported anti-spam efforts.

In a statement issued by the departments of Justice and Commerce, the administration said the bill "will help address some of the problems associated with the rapid growth and abuse of spam by establishing a framework of technological, administrative, civil, and criminal tools, and by providing consumers with options to reduce the volume of unwanted e-mail."

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Federal Bureau of Investigation has been collecting information on the tactics, training and organization of antiwar demonstrators, The New York Times reported in Sunday editions.

  In a report sourced to several interviews as well as a confidential bureau memorandum, the Times said that the law enforcement agency has also advised local officials that they should report to counterterrorism squads any suspicious activity at protests.

The memorandum, which was circulated to local law enforcement officials on Oct. 15 ahead of antiwar demonstrations in Washington and San Francisco, detailed how protesters have sometimes used "training camps" to rehearse, the Internet to raise funds and gas masks to defend against police use of tear gas, the newspaper reported.

The memo analyzed legal activities such as recruiting demonstrators, as well as illegal ones such as using false documentation to gain access to secured sites, it said.

FBI officials told the newspaper that the intelligence gathering effort was aimed at identifying anarchists and "extremist elements" plotting violence, not at monitoring the political speech of law-abiding protesters.

Asked to comment on the paper's account, an FBI spokesman emphasized that the agency's interest was in potential criminal, and possibly terrorist, activity. "The FBI is not interested in individuals who are exercising their constitutional rights of protest," FBI spokesman Bill Carter said. "It's only the groups who would be involved in violent or criminal activity where there would be an interest."

"The extent of the scrutiny is that any time there is a large gathering of people ... there is a potential for an act of terrorism," Carter said. But civil rights groups and legal scholars told the Times that the monitoring program could signal a return to the abuses of the 1960s and 1970s, when J. Edgar Hoover was the FBI's director and agents routinely spied on political protesters including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

"The FBI is dangerously targeting Americans who are engaged in nothing more than lawful protest and dissent," Anthony Romero, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union (news - web sites) told the newspaper. "The line between terrorism and legitimate civil disobedience is blurred, and I have a serious concern about whether we're going back to the days of Hoover."

For a brief moment in early March the media was alive with the question of whether the U.S. is acting as Israel's proxy by invading Iraq. On network TV, Tim Russert asked Richard Perle, a high profile advocate of removing Saddam Hussein, whether the proposed war would be serving U.S. interests, and specifically about the link to Israel. Similar issues were raised in a New York Times Op-ed by Bill Keller ("Is it Good for the Jews," March 8, 2003) and in a Times news article on the subject ("Divide Among Jews Leads to Silence on Iraq War," 3.15.03). Patrick Buchanan in The American Conservative ("Whose War?" March 24, 2003) and Stephen J. Sniegoski in Current Concern ("The War on Iraq: Conceived in Israel," February 2003) published long articles arguing that this is a war on Israel's behalf. Slate's Michael Kinsley wrote a tongue in cheek article on the subject (J'Accuse, Sort Of, 3.12.03).

Activist Ali Abunimah lists three ways in which Israel could hope to gain by the Iraq war. First, it would eliminate Iraq as a potential rival. Last weekend, the Zionists within the American administration ('Wolfowitz cabal' or 'twenty high-ranking Jewish intellectuals') confessed in a frank interview to Ari Shavit of Haaretz newspaper that 'yes, they brought the US into Iraq war'. Bleier goes further on, and discovers irrational (insane?) thirst for Armageddon.

Bleier's essay is interesting for an additional reason. It spans the left-right divide within the discourse, as Ronald Bleier, as well as Jeffrey Blankfort quoted in his article, openly refer to Stephen J. Sniegoski and Patrick Buchanan, 'the right-wing beasts and antisemites' according to their enemies. Until recently, just a reference to Sniegoski would be sufficient to 'burn' and ostracise Bleier within his left-wing Jewish friends. Not any more. The first goal of this list, to bring together 'true left' and 'true right' (as opposed to Zionist-infiltrated left and right) is obtained. And indeed, the second essay is written by the military expert Maguire, of the 'true right', who proves with numbers and details that the US will not stop after taking Baghdad. After Saddam, it will be Syria, Iran, France, Russia, China - unless we stop the Zionist - Mammonite alliance.

Invading Iraq: Converging u.s. and Israeli Agendas

For a brief moment in early March the media was alive with the question of whether the U.S. is acting as Israel's proxy by invading Iraq. On network TV, Tim Russert asked Richard Perle, a high profile advocate of removing Saddam Hussein, whether the proposed war would be serving U.S. interests, and specifically about the link to Israel. Similar issues were raised in a New York Times Op-ed by Bill Keller ("Is it Good for the Jews," March 8, 2003) and in a Times news article on the subject ("Divide Among Jews Leads to Silence on Iraq War," 3.15.03). Patrick Buchanan in The American Conservative ("Whose War?" March 24, 2003) and Stephen J. Sniegoski in Current Concern ("The War on Iraq: Conceived in Israel," February 2003) published long articles arguing that this is a war on Israel's behalf. Slate's Michael Kinsley wrote a tongue in cheek article on the subject (J'Accuse, Sort Of, 3.12.03).

Activist Ali Abunimah lists three ways in which Israel could hope to gain by the Iraq war. First, it would eliminate Iraq as a potential rival. Second, by increasing "the already deep alienation between Arab and American societies, such a war [would be] good for Israel." Third, the U.S. war against Iraq might give the government of Ariel Sharon cover to crack down even harder on the Palestinians, and perhaps even implement mass expulsions of Palestinians from the Occupied Territories. Key people in Bush administration are on record as strong supporters of Israel and of regime change in Iraq, among them: Vice President Dick Cheney, Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, Doug Feith, Under Secretary, Arms Control and International Security, John R. Bolton, senior director on Middle Eastern affairs on the National Security Council, Eliot Abrams.

These administration figures and others are promoters of Israel's right wing Likud party in Israel and Israel's superhawkish prime minister, Ariel Sharon. They advocate rolling back the territorial concessions Israel made under the now defunct Oslo accords (1993). Secretary Rumsfeld publicly referred to the "so called occupied territories" in August 2002 and implied that since Israel won them when it urged neighboring countries not to get involved in war, it has no obligation to return those territories.

The events of 9/11 provided administration hawks with the "Pearl Harbor" that allowed them to implement their long standing demand for regime change in Iraq. These plans go back to the neoconservatives who began promoting the removal of Saddam Hussein in the aftermath of the first Gulf War. Many of the neoconservatives were liberals

{quote} who drifted to the right when the Democratic Party moved to anti-war McGovernite left. And concern for Israel loomed large in their change. As political scientist, Benjamin Ginsberg puts it: 'One major factor that drew them inexorably to the right was their attachment to Israel and their growing frustration during the 1960s with a Democratic party that was becoming increasingly opposed to American military preparedness and increasingly enamored of Third World causes [e.g., Palestinian rights]. In the Reaganite right's hard-line anti-communism, commitment to American military strength, and willingness to intervene politically and militarily in the affairs of other nations ...neocons found a political movement that would guarantee Israel's security. {endquote} (Stephen J. Thus support for Israel is at the root of the neoconservative movement which has risen to the top policy making echelon of the U.S. government. As far back as the end of the first Gulf War, Paul Wolfowitz and Dick Cheney urged the adoption of a military plan to invade Iraq but were blocked by Colin Powell (at that time, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff) and General Norman Schwartzkopf. In February 1998 Wolfowitz and a host of neocons signed an open letter to President Clinton which proposed bringing down Saddam Hussein. (Sniegoski, op cit.)

On the one hand it would seem to go against all logic that a tiny country like Israel, albeit with the with the world's 7th, most powerful army and armed with nuclear weapons and delivery systems, could shape U.S. foreign policy. Nevertheless it shouldn't be so surprising that this is the present case. We recall that the tiny Cuban lobby exercises powerful influence over Cuban policy even though they are at odds with the otherwise influential farm lobby. Similarly when it comes to Middle East issues, the extraordinary power of the Zionist lobby has been a fact of life for many years. On the other hand, the U.S. would not venture on such a war if its leadership didn't see clear political and strategic gains for itself.

The Israeli connection to the Iraq war was highlighted by the furor over Virginia Congressman Jim Moran's response in early March to a constituent question during a town hall meeting. He said: that "if it were not for the strong support of the Jewish community for this war with Iraq we would not be doing this. The leaders of the Jewish community are influential enough that they could change the direction of where this is going and I think they should."

He would have been on safer ground had he limited his remarks to the leaders of the Jewish community. Jews, like all other groups, are split on the war. One poll taken shortly before the beginning of the war indicated that 59% of Jews supported the war, matching the rest of the country. But the congressman was correct and extraordinarily courageous in pointing to the leadership of the major Jewish organizations and suggesting that they could have blocked this war. As a 13-year veteran member of the House, Jim Moran has been around long enough to understand how political power on Middle East issues operates in Congress. War against Iraq has so isolated the United States and makes so little sense that were it not perceived as good for Israel it would have had a more difficult time arousing sufficient support. Much of the mainstream media which is also largely controlled by pro-Zionist Jews played an important role in allowing this extremist agenda to go forward without significant question or debate. When Congressman Moran says that the leadership of the Jewish community is influential enough to change the direction of where this is going, he is stating a simple truth about the power of the Zionist lobby which helps to explain the silence and timidity of the Democrats. The power of Zionist interests explains in part why many high profile Democrats such as Senators John Kerry, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Charles Schumer, Barbara Boxer and others voted to give President Bush the authority for war in October 2002 despite the manifest recklessness of the venture. They understand that opposition to perceived Israeli interests might well have a dramatic impact on campaign contributions since Jewish sources reportedly donate 50% or more of the total receipts to the Democratic party. Support by the leadership of the Jewish community for war against Iraq represents a culmination of 50 years of U.S. support for Israel's expansionist and oppressive rule. The passionate attachment to Israel, the dual loyalty felt by many Americans -whereby Israel's interests are put on the same or higher level than U.S. interests -- has come back to haunt the United States through the agency of a President willing to adopt the most extravagant dreams of right wing Israelis and pro-Israeli hawks. The result is that the full might of the world's only super power has been dragged into Israel's service despite the costs, and the dangers and the folly of such a policy. Attachment to Israel has come back to haunt America by enabling a decisive shift in U..S. policy away from helping to preserve the peace and security of the world and turning the U.S. into an aggressor nation, just as Israel has been and continues to be.

A measure of the influence of right-wing pro Israeli hawks in this administration is the way they have allowed Ariel Sharon free reign to apply extraordinary and unending pressure on the Palestinians and to destroy the possibility for Palestinian civil society. The Bush administration signaled their intention to leave the Palestinians to the tender mercies of the Israeli government as soon as they took office when they announced that they would allow the contending parties to settle their own differences. This ignored the disparity of power between the two sides and predictably the situation has deteriorated to its current awful level, ever spiraling downward with widening ripples into a hopeless future.

In the immediate aftermath of 9/11, it was recognized that the Israeli Palestinian conflict was at the heart of the Al-Qaeda attack and there was a fair amount of attention to the subject even in the United States. However, as time passed, the issue returned to its familiar marginalization, banished from the major media. But it is already clear that the war against Iraq will only exacerbate matters as Sharon continues to put more and more pressure on the Palestinians. As a result, the Muslim and Arab world are likely to be further inflamed, even more now as a longer than expected war is bound to inflict terrible suffering on many Iraqis. All the talk of a road map towards a Palestinian state is widely regarded as mere public relations from a Bush administration dead set against any concessions to the Palestinians.

Permanent War: A Separate U.S. Agenda

In addition to serving Israel, there is a separate and converging U.S. interest in waging war against Iraq: namely the Bush administration's pursuit of an agenda of permanent war. Their policy of pre-emption represents a radical break with the past. The new National Security Strategy issued in September 2002, with its breathtaking justification of pre-emptive military action represents a revolutionary break with fifty years of American policy and raises questions about the government's commitment to U.S. security. It's true that the U.S. has engaged in pre-emptive military action in the past, but pre-emption has never before been invoked as an ongoing policy, nor has it ever been used so audaciously in the face of such widespread opposition. As many have noted, the war against Iraq seems destined to spur rather than deter terrorism and perhaps provoke another 9/11-style attack on the American homeland. For this and other reasons it suggests that the security of the American people is not a priority for this government. Their apparent lack of interest in national security might explain President Bush's veto of $39 million for Port Container Security and cuts of more than $1 billion out of existing grants for local police/fire departments according to Democratic party sources. How is it possible that the U.S. government could be disinterested, even antagonistic to the security of its people? The answer is that Americans already live in an Orwellian world where the leadership understands that another 9/11-style attack might very well advance their right wing domestic program and their international agenda of permanent war. In the climate of fear and revenge that such another attack would engender, the successor to the Patriot Act, already leaked to the press, would head up a list of Bush administration priorities that would almost certainly face little or no domestic opposition.

As noted above, the core of the neoconservative philosophy is the commitment to American military strength and the desire to use force as the chief option. Under President George W. Bush's leadership the U.S. has worked to free itself from the restraints of multilateralism and seeks war after war. As New York Times columnist Paul Krugman put it, the war against Iraq is merely "a pilot project," ("Things to Come," 3.18.03). If circumstances allow, they will seek to wage war against North Korea and Iran - the other wings of the axis of evil), and afterwards to pursue regime change in some or all of Israel's other enemies, including Syria, Lebanon, and Libya. During the second week of the war, Secretary Rumsfeld complained publicly about Syrian shipments of military equipment including night goggles to Iraq, hinting that an attack on Syria might be a natural outgrowth the Iraq war. The White House did not gainsay his remarks.

In the view of those currently running the U.S. government, the unrivaled military power of the U.S. can operate to best advantage in an atmosphere of anarchy and conflict. U.S. policy in the George W. Bush era, is similar to the unprovoked aggression that the world observed in the days of Hilter, Napoleon, Alexander the Great, and other leaders who stepped onto the world stage with unrivalled military force. Characteristic of the Bush team's brutal cynicism is their comparison of Saddam Hussein to Hitler when they are the ones who most resemble Hitler in their power, their ruthless determination for war at all costs and their threat to world peace and security.

The U.S. government is interested in war in part as a way of testing and employing their high tech military weaponry, including nuclear weapons. Since as far back as the Reagan administration they attempted to move nuclear weapons away from the sphere of deterrence to actual battlefield use. In the current administration, they have already moved to break down the administrative barriers to the use of nuclear weapons and to ease the way for their practical implementation. They have announced that if circumstances warrant they intend to use nuclear weapons even against countries that don't possess them. The implications of the Bush agenda for permanent war go beyond rearranging the Middle East to Israel's liking. The logical conclusion to their policy is eventually to make war against Russia and China whom they regard as potential rivals. In effect, they want to make war against the whole world. They want to fight World War V after they have won WW3, the war against terrorism, and WW4 the war against militant Islam. It remains to be seen how far the world will allow them to pursue their goals. Noam Chomsky has suggested that their desire to crush any perceived challenges to U.S. power "poses serious dangers" and could even lead to "extinction of the species." ("Deep Concerns, March 20, 2003, distributed over the internet by Znet.) Extinction of the human species may actually be slightly ambitious even for these superhawks, but Chomsky's concern is a serious one. The threats of global warming, resource scarcity and the political tensions they generate are indicators of extraordinary pressures on our modern technological civilization and the Bush regime's prescription for global war can only hasten a day of reckoning.

Clearly the neoconservative war plans are rife with contradictions and ultimately suicidal, not to say reckless and irresponsible. But the important thing to note is that any policy has winners and losers and our task is to look at some of the consequences of a permanent war agenda. First of all, it is a highly promising avenue to re-election and permanent power. Just as the buildup to the Iraq war dominated the 2002 elections, so the Iraq war continues to obscure many other pressing domestic and economic issues that might otherwise be prominent. War divides the opposition and puts it on the defensive. Moreover when the country is at war, it greases the wheels of the right wing domestic agenda. A bloated military budget has already been passed with much more for the military on the way. We have already seen a curtailment of social spending, huge tax cuts for the wealthy, derailment of environmental controls, and an attack on civil liberties. If the war party manages to enact permanent war, it could result in permanent rule, an end to democracy, an end to the republic.

War for oil or war for imperialism? Not really

While Iraq's immense oil reserves are very important and already one of the contracts to rebuild the Iraqi oil infrastructure has gone to a Halliburton subsidiary and undoubtedly more such contracts will flow to American firms, nevertheless it's a misunderstanding to think that this is a "war for oil." The numbers tell a good part of the story. Although its oil reserves are second only to Saudi Arabia's, Iraq represents merely 3% of the world's pumping capacity. It would take ten years and an estimated $40 billion to bring Iraqi output to 6 million barrels a day (double its pre 1991 pumping level). Over the ten year post-war period, total revenue from Iraqi oil exports have been estimated at $300 billion, short of the estimated $350 billion that the war plus five years of peacekeeping is expected to cost the United States. The costs of rebuilding Iraq over the next ten years are estimated at $400 billion. In the current atmosphere it's more than likely that the bulk of Iraq's oil revenue will go towards rebuilding Iraq, rather than reimbursing the U.S. treasury for the costs of the war. (Donald F. Similarly the argument that this is a war for oil misses the point that such a war, however immoral would at least have a rational basis in attempting to secure important resources. Yet, before embarking on war, the U.S. was getting all the oil it wanted from Iraq and war has only curtailed these supplies, and could conceivably threaten other oil suppliers. The best way to secure Middle East oil would have been to seriously grapple with the Israeli Palestinian conflict and avoid war with Iraq at all costs. Paul Wolfowitz, chief architect of this war has been quoted as saying: "If we're not true to our principles, we're not serving our national interest." He believes that war on Iraq will engender more democracy in the Middle East and "the tendency toward successful representative self-government works for the benefit of the United States." ("First Stop Iraq," Time Magazine, 3.31.03) It's difficult to see how the reputedly brilliant Wolfowitz can actually believe this rubbish since everybody knows that a democratic Middle East would work against Israel's interests. Perhaps such talk is the way policy makers convince themselves of the justice of their cause. But in any event it should be clear that the Bush war policy is not a rational solution to the problem of scarce and valuable resources and has little to do with real world problem solving. Rather it is an ideological and messianic vision of pursuing a permanent war agenda by way of destroying Israel's enemies.

Similarly, the charge that this is a war to further U.S. imperialist aims misses the point that the U.S. already dominates the world, politically, militarily and economically. It is already a hyper-imperialist power.

{quote} The historical record shows that in the real world, hegemony never has been a winning grand strategy. The reason is simple: The primary aim of states in international politics is to survive and maintain their sovereignty. And when one state becomes too powerful - becomes a hegemon - the imbalance of power in its favor is a menace to the security of all other states. So throughout modern international political history, the rise of a would-be hegemon always has triggered the formation of counter-hegemonic alliances by other states. {endquote} (Sniegoski, op cit.)

As an imperialist power there is little more that the United States could wish for aside from redrawing the Middle East map in order to eliminate Israel's enemies. But Israel has enemies because it dominates and represses Arab peoples in order to consolidate a Jewish state in the former Palestine. It's possible that the enormous military power of U.S. can help to enforce the most grandiose Israeli expansion plans, but this is an uncertain prospect for the long term. By opting for unprovoked aggression against Israel's enemies, the U.S. is embarking on a project beyond imperialism, and moving toward world war and Armageddon.

it starts off positively juxtaposing the richness and high quality family life of the new mormon family with the empty tv-mediated alienation of the usual south park families. but, naturally, it ends up shitting all over it, portraying the history of mormonism -- full depictions of joseph smith's discoveries, etc -- as an absurd scam bought by morons and lemmings. the song that goes along with the history lesson punctuates each point with a chorus of DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM-DUM.

National Socialism is Not a "Whites Only" Ideology.

National Socialism is not a "whites only" ideology. National Socialism is an international, multi-racial ideology, recognizing the need for all races to protect the racial and cultural integrity of their race.

National Socialism was the gift/brainchild of Adolf Hitler and his associates as a way of life in accord with the fundamental laws of nature. Yes, National Socialism was designed for the Aryan peoples, but the concept is wholly universal doctrine which holds the keys to a better way of life not just for the Aryan races, but for all races of the world. Adolf Hitler stated that he was never a racist, but as a true National Socialist he worked solely for the betterment of his own folk. All races have the right, indeed, the duty to work toward the improvement and conservation of their race as their primary concern. "Pride in ones own race does not imply contempt for others"

National Socialism has nothing to do with contempt of other races. In fact, it encourages peaceful co-exhistance and co- operation with other races but not to the extent of misinsegination or acts of that sort which serve only to weaken racial and cultural diversity and in the end will spell the down fall of all races.

National Socialism believes all races should have their own living spaces, (as nature had originally intended and distributed them), yet National Socialism is not an isolationist ideology. National Socialism recognizes that all races need their own separate boundaries for the growth and preservation of the species. Yet this does not imply that the races can not work together in mutually beneficial ways.

National Socialism does not preach racial superiority. National Socialist Germany never used the term "master race" this was a term only used by the opponents of National Socialism in their unfortunately very successful attempts to smear and pervert the true essence of National Socialist theory.

National Socialism recognizes that the various races generally all have their own strengths and weaknesses. (There are of course exceptions to all things and naturally certain individuals will excel or fall deficient of their racial norms, yet on the whole all the races seem to have fairly clear strengths and weaknesses when compared with one another). National Socialism dose not see these strengths and weaknesses as "superior" or "inferior" but realizes that nature has provided all the races with their own strengths and weaknesses as part of its grand design and as such no one is superior nor inferior to another . All races have their purpose to play in the wondrous world of ours.

National Socialism recognizes the undeniable importance of racial purity.
