Real History, Real Community
by Michael Polignano
13 December 2003
In a recent article, I wrote about the need to form real, face-to-face White communities, and I offered as one model the Tuesday evening dinner and discussion group that I attended in Atlanta. On Thursday, December 11th in San Francisco, I had another taste of White community. Historian David Irving, whose fame makes any introduction unnecessary, spoke to a group of 34 people after dinner at a German restaurant.
When I entered the meeting room, I was a bit taken aback at what I thought was "Triumph of the Will" playing on a large-screen T.V. Mr. Irving greeted me warmly with a handshake and explained that what we were seeing was actually "Victory of Faith", Leni Riefenstahl's long-lost prequel to Triumph of the Will. Hitler had ordered all copies destroyed after the purge of Ernst Röhm, who appears prominently in the film. Riefenstahl went to her death hoping that a copy would come to light one day, and when one turned up recently in England it was quickly released on VHS and DVD.
Mr. Irving offered copies of "Victory of Faith" for sale, along with copies of his most recent two books, Churchill's War, vol. II and the most recent edition of Hitler's War, the new Hungarian translation of Uprising!, and some extremely beautiful historical picture books published in Germany by Arndt Verlag.
Hitler's War and Churchill's War, vol. II are not only splendidly written, they are splendidly produced: tastefully designed, loaded with gorgeous photographs, and printed to the highest standards of quality. Another way Irving's Focal Point imprint puts mainstream publishers to shame is his astonishingly generous offer of free downloads of all his books, so you can read them before you decide to buy them.
Mr. Irving was quite generous with his autograph. Not only does he autograph the books he sells on the spot, he invites his audience to bring in other David Irving titles to sign. He was even a good sport about a request to autograph a book by another author!
The talk itself dealt with parallels between Gulf War II and World War II. Of course the warmongers and their apologists love to draw parallels between Iraq and Nazi Germany, casting Saddam as Hitler, just as the Clinton regime cast Milosevic as Hitler when they wanted to attack Serbia.
The fact that the US government -- including such members of the Bush regime as Cheney and Rumsfeld -- saw fit to do business with Saddam in the past, poses a dilemma. Either Saddam really isn't another Hitler, or Cheney and Rumsfeld are willing to deal with another Hitler. Either way, the Bush regime looks bad.
But this is a war for Jews, so Bush can trust the Jew-controlled media not to raise such questions. Instead, they show us images of the "liberation" of Baghdad staged to look like the "liberation" of Paris. The "Coalition," just like the "Allies," triumphs over an "Axis" of evil and sets up "democracy" - i.e., a sham democracy that does not let certain parties to compete for election. And Jews live happily ever after on the spoils.
Irving's talk completely reversed the analogies between the two wars, casting the US as Nazi Germany and Iraq as Soviet Russia, and told a depressingly familiar tale of imperialism, arrogance, and bad planning coming to grief against partisan warfare conducted by a well-armed, fanatical populace. It is a tale that does not have a happy ending for the US.
David Irving is a remarkably eloquent speaker. He is also reputed to be surly, abrasive, and bitter. Frankly, given the amount of persecution he has endured at the instigation of Jews around the world, he would have every right to be. But in San Francisco he was nothing but warm and gracious. He handled the questions after his talk quite well, and I was pleased to hear that he is now researching a biography of Heinrich Himmler.
Irving was also quite funny. A few lines stuck in my mind. He remarked that in many ways he actually preferred "Victory of Faith" to "Triumph of the Will" because it is looser and more "slaphappy." When he referred to the country of Niger, he promised to refer to it as "the 'N' country" to avoid giving any possible offense. Regarding the planned HBO dramatization of the Lipstadt libel trial, he expressed pleasure at being played by Anthony Hopkins, "because I like eating human flesh too." He also lamented that Rock Hudson isn't around to play Deborah Lipstadt.
An important part of the event was the opportunity to meet people with common interests. Most in the audience were White males, as is usual with these sorts of groups, but there were some women. Ages ranged from late teens to gray heads. Most looked conservative, but there were also beards, pony tails, and John Lennon glasses.
Although I suppose some might merely have been WWII buffs, and one man had an Oriental wife, the people I met were all White Nationalists. There were several professionals, a college professor, a publisher, and a self-described blue-collar man. All of them were well-informed and well-spoken, and it was a real pleasure to be among people who understood and would not mince words about our race's perilous situation.
Mr. Irving's present speaking tour still has several stops. He is planning to speak in Portland, Oregon on Sunday, December 14th, in Seattle on the 15th, Moscow, Idaho on the 16th, Salt Lake City on the 18th, Denver on the 20th, and Chicago on the 22nd. If you will be in the vicinity, I highly recommend that you attend.
At the San Francisco event, I was pleased to hear talk of forming a weekly dinner and discussion group on the Atlanta model. There is no reason why such groups could not spring up in every city Mr. Irving visits.
David Irving offers two increasingly rare commodities to today's White Nationalist: real history and real community. Seek him out.
