The one time I was in Africa, a fellow was quite beside himself because a witch-doctor had “snatched his penis.”
I told him that we should verify this by having a look. It was plain to me that he still had that appendage, but he claimed to not see it at all!
So this might fit into their preoccupation with rules and laws; that is how they see things. They do not think for themselves, cannot think for themselves. If the law says that white is orange, they believe it. If the folk belief says that a witch-doctor can “snatch your penis” they believe it, regardless of what is right in front of their eyes.

Shrunk his WHAT down to a deformed peanut? His penis? What has that got to do with being a “superior scientist”? There is no link between penis size and scientific proficiency.
