The Secret Society of Cecil Rhodes

When Milner went to South Africa in 1897, Rhodes and he were already old acquaintances of many years' standing. We have already indicated that they were contemporaries at Oxford, but, more than that, they were members of a secret society which had been founded in 1891. Moreover, Milner was, if not in 1897, at least by 1901, Rhodes's chosen successor in the leadership of that society.

But Rhodes still had the same ideals and stil lbelieved that they could be carried out best by a secret society of men devoted to a common cause. The scholarships were merely a facade to conceal the secret society, or, more accurately, they were to be one of the instruments by which the members of the secret society could carry out his purpose. This purpose, as expressed in his first will (1877), was:

The extension of British rule throughout the world, the perfecting of a system of emigration from the United Kingdom and of colonization by British subjects of all lands wherein the means of livelihood are attainable by energy, labour, and enterprise, . . . the ultimate recovery of the United States of America as an integral part of the British Empire, the consolidation of the whole Empire, the inauguration of a systme of Colonial Representation in the Imperial Parliament which may tend to weld together the disjointed members of the Empire, and finally the foundation of so great a power as to hereafter render wars impossible and promote the best interests of humanity.

To achieve this purpose, Rhodes, in his first will, written while he was still and undergraduate at Oxford at the age of twenty-four, left all his wealth to the Secretary of State for the Colonies (Lord Carnarvon and to the Attorney General of Griqualand West (Sidney Shippard), to be used to create a secret society patterned on the Jesuits. The reference to the Jesuits as the model for his secret society is found in a "Confession of Faith" which Rhodes had written two years earlier (1875) and which he enclosed in his will. Thirteen years later, in a letter to the trustee of his third will, Rhodes told how to form the secret society, saying, "In considering questions suggested take Constitution of the Jesuits if obtainable and insert 'English Empire' for 'Roman Catholic Religion.'

In his "Confession of Faith" Rhodes outlined the types of persons who might be useful members of this secret society. As listed by the American Secretary of the Rhodes Trust, this list exactly describes the group formed by Milner in South Africa:

Men of ability and enthusiasm who find no suitable way to serve their country under the current political system; able youth recruited from the schools and universities; men of wealth with no aim in life; younger sons with high thoughts and great aspirations but without opportunity; rich men whose careers are blighted by some great disappointment. All must be men of ability and character . . . Rhodes envisages a group of the ablest and the best, bound together by common unselfish ideals of service to what seems to him the greatest cause in the world. There is no mention of material rewards. This is to be a kind of religious brotherhood like the Jesuits, "a church for the extension of the British Empire."

In each of his seven wills, Rhodes entrusted his bequest to a group of men to carry out his purpose. In the first will, as we have seen, the trustees were Lord Carnarvon and Sidney Shippard. In the second will (1882), the sole trustee was his friend N.E. Pickering. In the third will (1888), Pickering having died, the sole trustee was Lord Rothschild. In the fourth will (1891), W.T. Stead was added, while in the fifth (1892), Rhodes's solicitor, B.F. Hawksley, was added to the previous two. In the sixth (1893) and seventh (1899) wills, the personnel of the trustees shifted considerably, ending up, at Rhodes's death in 1902, with a board of seven trustees: Lord Milner, Lord Rosebery, Lord Grey, Alfred Beit, L.L. Michell, B.F. Hawsley, and Dr. Starr Jameson. This is the board to which the world looked to set up the Rhodes Scholarships.

Of even greater significance was the gathering of Milner Group members and their recruits in Washington. The Group had based most of their foreign policy since 1920 on the hope of "closer union" with the United States, and they realized that American intervention in the war was absolutely essential to insure a British victory. Accordingly, more than a dozen members of the Group were in Washington during the war, seeking to carry out this policy.

Lord Lothian was named Ambassador to the United States as soon as the war began. It was felt that his long acquaintance with the country and the personal connections built up during almost fifteen years as Rhodes Secretary more than counteracted his intimate relationship with the notorious Cliveden Set, especially as this latter relationship was unknown to most Americans. On Lothian's unexpected and lamented death in December 1940, the position in Washington was considered to be of such crucial importance that Lord Halifax was shifted to the vacant post from the Foreign Office. He retained his position in the War Cabinet. Thus the post at Washington was raised to a position which no foreign legation had ever had before. Lord Halifax continued to hold the post until 1946, a year after the war was actually finished. During most of this period, he was surrounded by members of the Milner Group, chiefly Fellows of All Souls, so that it was almost impossible to turn around in the British Embassy without running into a member of that select academic circle. The most important of these were Lord Brand, Harold Butler, and Arthur Salter."

Sometimes we even created a `new race', like the mulattos or 'coloreds' of South Africa. Now we can blame the Boers for persecuting 'our' coloreds and East Indians.

We Anglos invented the concentration camps and some 27,000 Boer women and children died in those 'Kitchener-Holiday Resorts'.

The silly Irish we have kicked around for some 800 years; the Scots we brought to their knees, and the Welsh don't count. In order to multiply the possibilities for division and strife in Europe, we helped create the bastard state of Belgium by taking a part of Holland and a part of France.

We promised the White Rhodesians 'protection', but handed them over to Black Marxists instead. We tricked the Arabs into fighting for us in World War I with promises of freedom and self-government, but we gave them colonial conquest and Israeli occupation instead.

Long have we Anglos worked with Bible, gun and bottle to bring about our conquests, and when 'lesser beings' refused to accept the terms of our trade, like the Chinamen who refused to buy our opium, we blasted their ports open and invaded their country.

When the Spaniards refused to share their wealth with us, we pirated it from them. Twice did the Germans out-compete us for world trade. and twice did we mercilessly and ruthlessly blast and starve them for their diligence and productivity.

Although we have started many wars, we have seen to it that the others were always branded as 'war criminals'. We haven't changed a bit. Although we schemed and tricked ourselves out of our British Empire, we show our honest personality traits by kicking our opponents' brains out on the soccer field, as well as in the viewing stands. We are scheming, clever savages, but we are running out of steam.

Today, we must rub elbows and be nice to the riff-raff, our former slaves, if we are to survive to play more tricks upon the world. We will have to lower our standards, but even if we have to change our pigmentation with the help of the Blacks and Asians, we Anglos will be able to do the world one more bad turn! This is amusing. After all, I am sitting right now at this very moment in the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the history of the world. The United States was created by Anglo-Saxons and Americans thought of themselves as an Anglo-Saxon people for centuries. Nor was the society thus founded an ephemeral thing, for, in modified terms, it exists to this day. From 1891 to 1902, it was known to only a score of persons. During this period, Rhodes was leader, and Stead was the most influential member. From 1902 to 1925, Milner was leader, while Philip Kerr (Lord Lothian) and Lionel Curtis were probably the most important members. From 1925 to 1940, Kerr was leader, and since his death in 1940 this role has probably been played by Robert Henry Brand (now Lord Brand).

During this period of almost sixty years, this society has been called by various names. In the second and third decades of its existence it was known as "Milner's Kindergarten" (1901-1910) and was "the Round Table Group" (1910-1920). Since 1920 it has been called by various names, depending on which phase of its activities was being examined. All of these terms were more or less inadequate, because they focused attention on only part of the society or on only one of its activities. In fact, Viscount Astor was, relatively speaking, a late addition to the society, and the society should rather be pictured as utilizing the Astor money to further their own ideals rather than as being used for the purpose by the master of Cliveden.

Even the expression "Rhodes secret society," which would be perfectly accurate in reference to the period 1891-1899, would hardly be accurate in reference to the period after 1899. The organization was so modified and so expanded by Milner after the eclipse of Stead in 1899, and especially after the death of Rhodes in 1902, that it took on quite a different organization and character, although it continued to pursue the same goals. To avoid this difficulty, we shall generally call the organization the "Rhodes secret society" before 1901 and "the Milner Group" after this date, but it must be understood that both terms refer to the same organization.

The majority of Americans are not Anglo-Saxon, they are German, Dutch, Scandinavian. Then there are Irish and Welsh from the Celtic group. The large Slavic populations come from Poland, Czechia, and huge communities of Sorbs moved here around 1911.

Your ideology, which you refuse to reveal in any way, is a born loser because:

A: You intend to preach it to the masses from the start, it is a mass-based idea.

B: You intend to do that by telling every American to accept YOUR version of American history, which will easily get you beat down by Poles and Irish in particular. The rest will beat you down simply because you are racist, and they will call you a NAZI. In today's Britain, you can't even publish an honest book about race -- itz a hate crime. There are also multiple "no go" zones for native British, ie, with white skins. Maybe I'm misreading, but you appear to be quoting from Tragedy and Hope, and bragging that the British have helped the jews lay the groundwork for the New World Order. I don't see what's to celebrate. If Britain had simply laid off Germany in WWI, none of this ever need happen. Britain has been laid low by British character. Unfortunately, it has brought the rest of us down with it. Oh but wait: we have a really large GNP! So everybody really loves us and wants to be us, or at least be killed by us.

As for Murray, he can conclude as he wishes, but you can bet your life it would hurt sales if he concluded non-English speakers came out on top. Just like that book, "How the Irish Saved Civilization" - these guys throw sops to whomever they think will buy their stuff. I remember Tom Sowell's book in which he praised Germany as one of the cultures of trust, pretty much appeared and vanished without mention, because you're only supposed to praise Irish or English, never Germans.

We are number one, Alex. It truly says a lot about our country when we have people who have nothing to complain about but McDonald's. I don't like McDonald's either. But no one forces to me eat there and I am thankful for that. We enjoy a standard of living today that previous generations could only dream of. And that, as you well know, is the fundamental reason why so many people are not listening to what we have to say. It is much easier to simply tune out all our problems as a race and enjoy life.

Our citizens enjoy a standard of living that billions of people in this world and countless generations of our ancestors could only dream of. We continue to lead the world in science and technology. I will use a few examples from my own personal experience, a typical day for me, if you will. When I wake up in the morning, I don't have to concern myself with finding food to eat in order to survive. If I am hungry, then I can always go to several grocery stores in my area and purchase pretty much anything I want at an affordable price. I can walk down the aisles and choose from amongst thousands of products from across the world. In just a few minutes, I can find what I need and get out of the store with a convenient swipe of my credit card.

Once I leave the grocery store, I get back into my gas guzzling Lincoln Navigator, which is affordable for someone like me because I don't pay extraordinary gasoline taxes in Alabama. There are so many things I can do. I can drive to my beach house in just a few hours thanks to the automobile that I possess. Perhaps I would like to read a book. Alright. All that takes is a quick drive over to my university library. Since I do not live in a totalitarian society, I can walk through the library and find pretty much anything I want. If I want to read Mein Kampf, then it is readily available. If I want to read Karl Marx, then I can find that too. I can find the writings of Stalin, Burke, Kant, and Hume. Perhaps I would like to learn something about 8th century Cambodian history or who owns the mass media in the United States. Very simple. A quick search on a computer in the library will locate such titles for me within seconds. So I check out what I want and begin to make my way out of the library.

Now while I am doing this, it should be noted that I have five hundred dollars in my wallet. As I make my way out to the parking lot, hundreds of people pass by me. Many are friends or acquaintances. Some are strangers. Most of these people will smile when you look at them. Others will say hello. The thought never occurs to me that these people might try to kill me. And I doubt the vast majority of these people ever stop to ask themselves the same question. Civilized people don't ask themselves questions like that.

So I get back in my Navigator. On the way home I pass by several churches. There are cars parked outside. Its a Sunday afternoon so I speculate that there are people inside. Perhaps some of them are of Irish ancestry too. The thought never occurs to me that the government may attack the church and kill the people that are in there at any moment because they are Christians or have Irish ancestors. I doubt the people who are even in the Church trouble themselves imagining such unlikely scenarios.

After passing by the church, I come to an intersection and stop at the traffic light. Amazingly, so does everyone else. We sit in traffic for a minute or so as our fellow citizens have the green light. Then its our turn. So I let my foot off the brake and continue on my way. Other people stop what they are doing and the vast majority of them think nothing of this. Its simply something that civilized people are accustomed to. They habitually do things like that without giving it a second thought. There are no cops in the area to enforce the law, as everyone can see, but this is not of much significance to anyone. They don't reflect upon any of this because they take such things for granted.

As I continue on my way, I pass by one of my neighbors, a fellow named Richard. Its Sunday afternoon so I speculate that Richard is about to go deer hunting. He probably has some sort of gun in his truck. But it never occurs to Richard, or myself, that he should be watching out for the government today because he possesses firearms. Richard isn't doing anything illegal either simply by going deer hunting today. The government probably won't be killing Richard this evening because he is a conservative who has failed to "name the Jew."

I am nearing home now when I pass by an old black guy named Earl who owns a convenience store near my home. I have known Earl pretty much my entire life so he waves at me. That is something people simply do around here because they are neighbors. He also knows my parents because he grew up with my father. The thought never occurs to me that Earl might kill me or that I should kill Earl because he is black. Civilized people might take into consideration the fact that Earl has a family and that it would be immoral to murder him because he is an innocent person.

Alright. I am now finally at home. Its time check the news. So I get on the internet which allows me to see what thousands of people around the world are talking about at any given time. It never occurs to me that I might not be able to get on the internet when I get home. I don't live in a country like Fidel Castro's Cuba or Kim Jong Il's North Korea so I don't stop to think about that. Finally, I manage to get on The Phora. Several interesting conversations are going on. For instance, a new guy named Martin Lindstedt has registered and is having a discussion with il ragno about how raping women is a good idea and why billions of nonwhites should be exterminated. There is also some noise about VNN.

So I go over to VNN Forum to see what is going on. Draco is talking about killing Christians en masse. Another recent topic, apparently, is about exterminating the Irish. I see another advocating the overthrow of the United States Government for it can be replaced by a fascist dictatorship. Over at the Nordish Portal, Dr. Brandt and friedrich braun are having a good time talking about the latest people who have died today and why millions of more people should be murdered. Over here at The Phora, k0nsl is saying the Holocaust never happened, which is interesting, because he could probably be prosecuted for that in his own country. All of these conversations, of course, are taking place on servers located in the United States. People are allowed to own such servers and carry on such conversations because our individual rights are protected by the U.S. Constitution.

There are two characteristically British qualities that have carried through in America, to our vast discredit:

In today's Britain, you can't even publish an honest book about race -- itz a hate crime. There are also multiple "no go" zones for native British, ie, with white skins. Maybe I'm misreading, but you appear to be quoting from Tragedy and Hope, and bragging that the British have helped the jews lay the groundwork for the New World Order. I don't see what's to celebrate. If Britain had simply laid off Germany in WWI, none of this ever need happen. Britain has been laid low by British character. I remember Tom Sowell's book in which he praised Germany as one of the cultures of trust, pretty much appeared and vanished without mention, because you're only supposed to praise Irish or English, never Germans.

English music? art? food? music? religion? England has produced a lot of great writing, and lots and lots of science and technical advances. But its land and culture are far remarkable than claimed. Don't believe the Anglophone hype, Fade!

Alex, you obviously don't understand Fade's great new IDEOLOGY, and his MOVEMENT(Warning: Movement only consists of Fade himself). You see, the average Brit or American, according to Fade, doesn't like that type of history. He wants to believe that the world is full of "good guys"(him and his country) and "bad guys"(anyone that disagrees with his country regardless of race). So to tell him that maybe his government has made grave mistakes or that he should change any of his habits or perspectives on anything would just anger him. So why bother pissing him off?

Its interesting that you should mention this, Alex. I say that because all sorts of honest books about racial differences were being published in Great Britain before WW2. The eugenics movement was even born in Britain.

That's true. There are a lot of nonwhites today in Britain. Its also true that nonwhites were not immigrating to Britain en masse before WW2.

I suppose this is because we do not agree on why we are in the situation we are now in today. For instance, I think you are of the view that the Jews are responsible for all of this. But I disagree. Jews had been living in Western Europe and America for centuries yet we only see racialism collapsing throughout the West in the immediate aftermath of WW2. That makes sense. After all, it was the atrocities of Nazism that discredited racialism across the world, not the Jews.

I don't see what's to celebrate.

I could easily ask you the same question, Alex. Why do you admire a guy who did more damage to racialism than any other man who ever lived?

I haven't seen any evidence that Murray falsified his research.

Feel free to respond to Murray if you have a problem with his methodology. He has asked his critics to do so. Murray is also the co-author of The Bell Curve, but I am pretty sure you know that. Would you say that The Bell Curve is also another example of throwing out sops to whomever they think will buy their stuff?

I really have no idea of what you are talking about here. I see books praising German culture all the time. And Murray does give a fair assessment of German accomplishments in the arts and sciences. Britain simply comes out on top in Europe. France comes out second. Germany comes out third. I believe Italy comes in fourth place.

English music? art? food? music? religion? England has produced a lot of great writing, and lots and lots of science and technical advances.

In specific areas the totals are different but in terms of cumulative accomplishments Murray puts Britain out front.

But its land and culture are far remarkable than claimed. Don't believe the Anglophone hype, Fade!

The English-speaking peoples can be found stretching from one end of the earth to the other. That's not true in the case of the Germans.
