Taki is the pen name of a Greek billionaire who funds The American Conservative. The Fukuyama he refers to in the piece is Francis Fukuyama, author of the famous article The End Of History which asserted over a decade ago that with the fall of Communism the world had reached its end state: democratic capitalism forever. Fukuyama is quite respected in mainstream policy circles, so he made some waves among the policy wonks when he came out against the Iraq war and Bush's foreign policy this year. There is no Taki Fukuyama.

Some months ago Taki was investigated by British thought police after he published an article there which was deemed racist (because it was; it made fun of young blacks.) I never heard about any charges being filed though.

Taki is interesting as a possible indicator of some underlying feelings among his class, the old money of Europe. He is insulated from most consequences of his writing and publishing by his fortune. We need more like him.

Europe is going to be in civil war with it's Muslims pretty soon if it doesn't get a hold on them, Russia will always be a autocratic state, the Muslim world is never going to be democratic or capitalist, Africa is never going to be non-junglo, China is clearly a nationalistic, militaristic powerhouse that isn't going anywhere, and America... we'll see. I picture it degenerating into balkanized, chaotic tribalism with pockets and strongholds of besieged civilized whites - hardly a democratic capitalist fantasy. I hope decadent, degenerate Japan is gulped up by the Chinese colossus pretty soon, and Fuckuyama is put in a labor camp. Mmmm, democratic capitalism. Can I have a big mac and fries with that?

apparently Taki was a pretty successful European karate competitor. I think that speaks well of him, although having done the striking and the grappling arts, as have many of you, we all know who will win in a tangle, ceteris paribus.
