I was just thinking of a good parable or fable to help myself and others understand the madness of crowds and their impedence to social progress.
Imagine an old lady with her orphaned grandchild, Timmy. timmy likes to play on the interstate and he's deaf and blind. the old lady calls in , weepily begging the mayor to put up a stoplight so cars have to stop on the interstate, so they'll be careful of Timmy.
After a weepy, ad campaign with music by John Williams, All the people happily oblige, cheerfully honking their horns and waving at Timmy. One day you complete lose it and jump out of your car, pulling your hair and yell at the old lady, 'KEEP YOUR FUCKING KID OFF THE HIGHWAY'. there is dead silence. Everyone is deadpanning you, looking at you emotionless, then they turn away, you are so beneath them morally they feel almost sorry for you.
You see, Americans are so immoral, they don't really know how to behave morally. You see, they know they have to have the moral highground on matters, to be superior, but , they are so stupid and evil they don't really know what that moral highground is, so they fumble and claw for it, only to make themselves look ridiculous. They want to be morally superior while at the same time, having no morals or even a knowledge of what is good and evil.
