This Saturday, May 10, is Confederate Memorial Day in North Carolina and South Carolina. NASCAR is having their Cup race at Darlington Raceway, the penultimate Southern Confederate track. I called the public relations office to ask if they were going to give this fact a mention. I got the expected answer of "no, because it was a controversial subject." What I did not expect was how rudely I, as a potential ticket holder, was talked to. The person I contacted basically said that to keep their image "squeaky clean," no mention of this would be made. When I attempted to reply to this BS answer, he cut me off and hung up on me after he told me he did not have time to listen to my "political speech." There was a time that the winner of this race would do a victory lap with Johnny Reb holding a Confederate Battle Flag. Now mentioning anything Confederate is tantamount to "ruining our image."

This will change no one's mind, but it may stick in their craw that so many people bothered to call about this and make them realize that there are many White traditionalist fans out there that are fed up with the direction NASCAR is taking.
