I keep hearing on the TV, from Washington DC and even from "anti immigration" conservatives that we face a crisis. I've talked with local people who say they want the border closed, but love H-1B visas because they're skilled and Americans don't know high level math and science. I have been working as a chemical engineer, pursuing my MSE now.
I was lucky to get a job offer right after my bachelors. Many from that class are working more basic jobs an associates would qualify you for, some not even that. A few even in the MSE program haven't received a solid job yet.
I guess this is just a vent thread, but the myth needs to stop. My girlfriends brother is a good commercial electrician and makes more than me currently. Sometimes I honestly think about dropping out and training under him.
