The Green Zone Follies

Baghdad, 01 May 07: “When our victorious troops conquered Iraq, even as the officers and senior American political “advisors” and the sadistic and brutal “contractors” were massively looting the various palaces , offices and museums, a pallet containing 100,000 10x 20 full color pictures of our Beloved President arrived here with instructions to post them in all public buildings such as mosques and schools. Naturally, this did not happen, the soldiers being too busy looking for something to steal or for willing, and more often unwilling, local females. Now, I notice, someone found this silly shit and they are posting the pictures on the backs of urinals, on garbage cans in mess halls and on condom and tampon dispensers everywhere. The local’s loss is not our gain. Believe me, it’s a wonderful relief to take a healthy piss on his smirking, brainless face.

I imagine from the comments I have heard, and officers are included, that if Bush came to Iraq like the really nutty space-case McCain and took a stroll (like McCain, with 500 heavily armed soldiers around him) he wouldn’t make it back to the airfield and his air-conditioned gourmet lunch. And if the loathsome Cheney ever made an appearance, it would take the entire 82nd Airborne to protect him…not from the rag heads but his own people!

Long before the toady and suck-ass American press started reporting it, I have been telling all of you about how really unsafe our Green Zone is. The reason they are wreaking havoc here is because of all the foreign reporters and diplomats located inside the zone. If some outpost were overrun by nationals and the occupants put to the sword, believe me it would never, never see the light of day in the American media. It would never get one line of type in any paper or one sentence on any TV news program. But when they do the big dirty inside the Green Zone, too many others who cannot be controlled witness it. The Resistance has virtually destroyed the power infrastructure but those inside the zone are unaware of it because we have our own power sources here and we have electricity, sewage and water without a problem.

New troops arriving here have no body armor. When body armor is shipped in, in small batches, it is promptly “organized” by the regulars here and sold on the black market within minutes of arrival. The new ones get nothing but a ticket home in a metal box…and no legs either.

Mail, all computers and any telephone calls in or out of the country are spied on 24/7 and God help anyone who complains or makes rude remarks about Bush or his cronies. All emails go through a center and all emails are vetted before being passed on. Also, many foreign newsmen have been told, off the record, that if they go too far, they will have fatal accidents…and quite a number of them had. After all, our troops, acting on orders, shot up the Russian ambassador’s staff while they were evacuating to Syria at the beginning of the war and we all know how badly they tried to off the Italian journalist (they nailed her government bodyguard instead) and on and on.

Most of the foreign military observers here personally consider the conduct of American military units to be barbaric and bloody but the Israelis think we don’t go far enough. I had one Israeli major tell a group of us how to shoot Arab children and how much fun it was to watch them explode when hit with dum-dum bullets with which all IDF troops are supplied.

Morale is so low here that you would have to use a well-digging rig to locate it, drug use is over the top, thefts, rapes, murders and suicides are the order of the day and guess what, kids? Summer is coming again! “
