Yet another fine, upstanding colored citizen who was a standout student-athlete at a local negro college has gone off the wagon and committed a crime. Isn't everyone at VNN shocked by this???

And yes, his comrade-in-arms was a nigger too.

Ex-VUU football QB among suspects in Green Top robbery

• 34 handguns stolen from Hanover store

A former Virginia Union University quarterback was one of two men arrested this week on felony charges in the June 13 burglary at Green Top Sporting Goods in Hanover County.

Michael A. Henderson and Leon E. Waddy, both 21, are charged with burglary, grand larceny, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy, Hanover Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Michael J. Trice said. Thirty-four handguns were stolen during the incident, authorities said.

Henderson, a resident of Bowie, Md., who graduated with honors in May, is being held in federal detention in Maryland, where he was arrested Monday. Waddy, who lives in Washington, is in federal custody there.

Henderson's former football coach at VUU, Arrington Jones III, said his arrest in the burglary came as a shock.

"He's been like the poster child for student-athletes," said Jones, who resigned as VUU's coach in March. "This kind of behavior has never been demonstrated."

Henderson was Union's starting quarterback during his freshman season in 2004. He had been the backup the past two seasons behind All-CIAA quarterback Lamar Little. Last season, he played in three games for VUU.

"He brought his daughter to VUU and made the sacrifices to make things better for himself and his daughter," Jones said of Henderson. "This is totally out of a character for this young man."

Trice said the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives offices in Richmond, Maryland and Washington assisted with the investigation.

"We have retrieved some, but not all, of the weapons," he said. He said investigators are looking into whether other people were involved in the burglary or distribution of the stolen handguns.

Virginia Union Athletic Director Michael Bailey and the school's current head football coach, Greg Richardson, declined to comment on Henderson's arrest.
