Look at this retarded article - they are gushing with glee over this bumbling CEO. They are treating him like he's saving a bunch of Holocaust Suh-Vih-Vahs when ALL he is doing is asking them to forgo wages and benefits in lue of being laid off.
If you ask me, I'd rather be laid off than have pay and benefits cut in any significant way.
It's a fucking hospital - WTF!? The economy is sooooo bad now that apparently people aren't having emergencies because they cannot afford them?
The CEO pretends to worry about the low-wage employees - those are PRECISELY the employees who can rebound from a layoff better than most - you can get a job cleaning floors or washing dishes ANYWHERE.
I think his real concern is having his unemployment insurance go up - MA has BY FAR the highest unemployment paycheck in the country - $900+ a week - you let some senior level nurses and technicians go, and they are going to be eating into that UI fund good.
This doctor is calling the jew's bluff:
This is wierd, if people get layed-off they have unemployment insurance to carry them. He's asking employees to save the hospital money that it has reserved in the UI account with the state. It's wrong to belabor the employees with the issue in this manner.
He overstaffed, and now has to cut-back, it's that simple. It's egregious evidence of overstaffing, and now he makes it look like the economy did it--passing the blame. He overstaffed!

A head with a heart
It was the kind of meeting that is taking place in restaurant kitchens, small offices, retail storerooms, and large auditoriums all over this city, all over this state, all over this country.
Paul Levy:jew:, the guy who runs Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, was standing in Sherman Auditorium the other day, before some of the very people to whom he might soon be sending pink slips.
[...]
"Now, if we protect these workers, it means the rest of us will have to make a bigger sacrifice," he continued. "It means that others will have to give up more of their salary or benefits."
He had barely gotten the words out of his mouth when Sherman Auditorium erupted in applause. Thunderous, heartfelt, sustained applause.
Paul Levy stood there and felt the sheer power of it all rush over him, like a wave. His eyes welled and his throat tightened so much that he didn't think he could go on.:puke:
