In the Salt Lake County primary election held last night (Tuesday Sept 11), the ANSWP's Utah State Unit leader Jack Gray finished fifth in a field of five in the race for the District 4 City Council seat. Only the top two finishers go on to the general election on November 6.

None of the post-election news stories mentioned Gray by name, so here's the link to the election website:

Further discussed HERE.

Gray, the only explicitly pro-family candidate in the race, was running on a platform of resolving the illegal alien problem and confronting the rising influence of the gay rights lobby. He also addressed "bread-and butter" issues such as promoting more efficient resource management within the water department, identifying a number of positions which could be left unfilled after present employees left in order to save money, and to reduce power costs by installing new above-ground telephone lines with increased capacity rather than burying the lines. Unfortunately, Gray's campaign was censored somewhat by the media, and, despite substantive publicity by the relatively new Voice Of Deseretblog, which has yet to achieve a significant following, he did not succeed. Even the last minute revelation that Salt Lake is a sanctuary city for illegal aliens failed to give his campaign a significant bump.

Gray ran into a few technical problems that briefly knocked his campaign blog offline for a couple of days two weeks ago, but he recovered. Salt Lake simply has become an irrevocably liberal city - the homosexual lobby is unusually strong there. Fortunately, Gray was shielded from most of the movement drama that has engulfed much of the senior leadership of the ANSWP, much of it fueled by renegade NSM leader Jim Ramm (see the Jim Ramm Watch blog for more details).

Jack Gray is to be commended for stepping up to the plate and sticking his neck out. While he only got 72 votes, he went out and represented our people and our Cause, just like Glenn Miller did when he ran for Congress last year. His campaign blogis still up - I'm sure he'd appreciate it if any VNN'ers have the time to leave a brief comment showing appreciation for his effort.
