I think the biggest message this sends is that even if you go against nature (as a homosexual male or female) your life is not over after you die. You can live on via a sperm donor and artificial insemination.

There are many gay couples who have children from another marriage. I was told that the reasoning behind this was it wasn't acceptable to be gay. I believe that it had more to do with the survival instinct that all animals are born with.
