An Oklahoma City man has been arrested on complaints of first-degree murder and rape after the death of a two-year-old girl.

On September 3, Oklahoma City Police responded to a welfare check on Shaleah Cudjo, 2, not breathing near Northeast 39th and Prospect Ave. Police say paramedics immediately tried to help Cudjo and took her to OU Children's Hospital, where she died shortly after. According to the medical examiner, Cudjo had internal bleeding and other injuries that displayed evidence of sexual assault.

Police say Justin Lawson, 22, had been home with Cudjo and left the scene just after 911 was called. Lawson was later located and arrested on outstanding warrants. He's now in the Oklahoma County Jail on complaints of first degree murder and rape.
