Outspoken Putin critic shot dead in Moscow

MOSCOW (Reuters) - Russian journalist Anna Politkovskaya, an outspoken critic of President Vladimir Putin, was shot dead on Saturday at her apartment block in central Moscow, police said.
"According to initial information she was killed by two shots when leaving the lift. Neighbors found her body," a police source told Reuters. Police found a pistol and four rounds in the lift.
Politkovskaya, a 48-year-old mother of two, won international fame and numerous prizes for her dogged pursuit of rights abuses by Putin's government, particularly in the violent southern province of Chechnya.
"The first thing that comes to mind is that Anna was killed for her professional activities. We don't see any other motive for this terrible crime," said Vitaly Yaroshevsky, a deputy editor of the newspaper where Politkovskaya worked.
Moscow chief prosecutor Yuri Syomin told reporters at the crime scene, a nine-story Soviet-era apartment building in central Moscow, that he was treating the death as murder.
Paramedics took Politkovskaya's body, wrapped in a white sheet, out of the building and put it into an ambulance. A middle-aged woman laid flowers at the doors of the building and stood with her head against the wall, crying.
Politkovskaya's silver Lada, filled with supermarket shopping bags, was parked outside the apartment block.
Former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev, a shareholder in Politkovskaya's newspaper Novaya Gazeta, called the killing a "savage crime."
"It is a blow to the entire democratic, independent press," Gorbachev told Interfax news agency. "It is a grave crime against the country, against all of us."
In the days before her death, Politkovskaya had been working on a story about torture in Chechnya, which was expected to be published on Monday, her newspaper said.
DISTRUSTED PUTIN
The rebel province has been a constant headache for the Kremlin. Russia sent troops in 1994 to crush an insurgency but after 12 years of bloodshed and the devastation of the province's capital Grozny, sporadic attacks continue.
Politkovskaya was a fierce critic of Putin, whom she accused of stifling freedom and failing to shake off his past as a KGB agent.
"I dislike him for ... his cynicism, for his racism, for his lies ... for the massacre of the innocents which went on throughout his first term as president," she wrote in her book "Putin's Russia" which was published overseas but not in Russia.
Her death came on the day Putin turned 54.
In New York, the Committee to Protect Journalists described Politkovskaya's murder as a "devastating development for journalism in Russia."
There are few independent voices in Russian media, most of it controlled by the state or business interests. Newspapers such as Novaya Gazeta, popular with Russian liberals and human rights activists, are rare, especially outside the big cities and tend to have a small circulation.
"Ms. Politkovskaya's murder signals a major crisis of free expression and journalistic safety in Russia," said Thomas Hammarberg, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights.
Rights group Amnesty International said in a statement it believed Politkovskaya was targeted because she reported on rights abuses in Russia and urged a thorough murder probe.
Born to Soviet Ukrainian diplomats in New York in 1958, Politkovskaya studied journalism at Moscow's State University and began her career in state media.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union she began working at the independent media which began to flourish under Gorbachev.
Politkovskaya's war reporting often meant she was under scrutiny by Russian politicians and, sometimes, the security services. She had been arrested and held in a pit for three days in Chechnya and received numerous death threats.
She said she was unable to cover the bloody siege of a school at Beslan in 2004 -- in which more than 330 children and parents died when troops stormed the school -- because she was poisoned on the flight from Moscow and ended up in hospital.
Her murder is the most high-profile killing of a journalist here since the death of U.S. journalist Paul Klebnikov in 2004.
Last month, gunmen shot and killed senior Russian central banker Andrei Kozlov in one of the most high profile contract killings since Putin came to power in 2000.

I saw that story several times today. The way they were talking & the looks of this woman, I figured she was a Jew.

I'm not sure, but I do know they [Jewsmedia] were making a pretty big fuss over her, I can't see them being that upset about a goy. In Russia, I'm pretty sure lots of the news people are Jews, ones that aren't really interested in high tailin' it to Tel Aviv.

Actually, it's an Ukrainian name. But her nationality in obvious. 
She got to be well known working for the one of the riches yids in Russia Berezovskij. Her job mainly was to pour shit on the Russians. But you should see the amount of money she got as the different international awards as the journalist.

Putin didn't do this. Putin is a sophisticated player, and he knows that such an act would be bad PR.
This was done by Putin's enemies in order to discredit him -- maybe by other jews.

I don't think he did it either, she probably has a lot of enemies by siding with the Chechen rebels. I doubt Putin will be sending flowers though.

Putin, throughout his two terms, has warned these liars to leave, in one way or another. This is yet another warning. Headin’ back to Israel (Palestine) yet Jews? Russians don’t want you in their country. Get it?
At this point Putin has nothing to lose, Russian law dictates he can’t run past his second term. These are the same laws in most White nations legislated by Jews in the early 1950’s directly after WW2 trying to prevent another “Hitler.” They were afraid that if a nation would have an anti-Jew government and there were no term limits set in place, that government could effectively rule until Jew power structures were destroyed IE; The Federal Reserve, The Media, Israel and of course the Jew pet project, the Nigger, amongst others. I believe Putin has enough support to change those laws, at least in Russia. Yet he has stated he will not, and that he will not run again. In a democracy where politicians are voted into office by the majority, there is no rhyme nor reason to have such term limit laws set in place. And the only reason such laws are in effect is solely to protect the Jew. Sad day in Russia, a country who lost not only an entire royal family, but millions of patriots and untold millions of their population due to Jewish hate for the White Russian people.
Gorbachev and Yeltsin were nothing but Jew tools who not only allowed worldwide Judaism to destroy the USSR in hopes of weakening mother Russia but also to indebt the Russian people. These Russian traitors assisted the Russian (Jewish) mafia and worldwide criminal Jewish tribes to control the Russian media, to outright own Russian wealth and industry and of course to bankrupt the Russian people. Directly before Putin was elected the Russian people were starving in the streets. Just like with the Jewish monetary policies in the US that caused the Great Depression, Russians had no jobs because Russia had no money. Putin came in and reversed this downward trend, the very first thing he did was to remove Jewish ownership of mass media from Jews. This was genius on his part as he could continue unabated with his other goals without a tribe of Jews in concert with one another whining in unison against Putin and/or his policies. Next he went after the Jewish criminal element who had illegally held control over Russian wealth. He sent most Jews packing back to Tel Aviv and those that thought Jewish Power would protect them, were sent to prison. Many who were left who hadn’t already abandoned Russia or who wasn’t in prison, decided to leave after seeing what happened to their fellow Jewish conspirators. As far as indebting and impoverishing the Russian people, Putin took care of that too. Any fraudulent debt owned to Jews was forgotten, any legitimate debt his government owed the Jews was paid. As the American people, the Australians, the British, etc. etc. will forever be indebted to Jews (the deficit) the Russian people are free from these debts thanks to the Russian Patriot and great White leader, Putin.
The greed and arrogance of the wiley Jew will lead to his downfall - when those well placed bullets entered this Jewess’s skull, it equated to a small part of that downfall.
Lessoned learned? Isn’t it obvious? Wake-up America wake-up!
And before some rude crude and childish member of VNN says something stupid like, “Oh yea, and what are we suppose to do after we wake-up?” GD man, I just told you. If you don’t understand, stop wasting your time on the internet offering sarcastic remarks. Take up knitting or something, it would be more productive to your race.
If ALL pro-white group would swallow pride, become meek as lambs while holding out their hands to one another, we could begin to make change. If we banded together by the millions, (and there are millions of us) there is no doubt in my mind we could elect a patriotic leader. A leader, just like . . . Putin.
(There’s so many great things to say concerning Putin, a person would literally have to write a book just to mention a few of them. But, I would like to add one more. Under Putin, the Judisized and complicated tax structures were eliminated. He went with a flat tax that actually collected more in taxes as a whole while at the same time lessoning the liability for any individual taxpayer (due to Jewish position as “top feeder” they deny and fight against this). I believe (on average) more than fifty percent of American‘s paychecks go to taxes. Russians? Twenty percent.)
