Deliberations begin in Miller Place trial

Jurors have begun deliberating the manslaughter trial of John White, the black Miller Place man charged with fatally shooting an unarmed white teen.

Suffolk County Court Judge Barbara Kahn gave the jury of six men and six women their instructions Wednesday morning before sending them to deliberate around 11 a.m.

The jury has already handed up one note to the court. It read: "Can we have in writing the elements the people have to prove... with respect to manslaughter in the second degree."
