A US hip hop frontman has called Brisbane a city of racists after performing to a sold-out show in West End on Sunday night.

Tyler Okonma, of Los Angeles group Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All (otherwise known as Odd Future), posted a series of comments on Twitter over the weekend and yesterday.

Okonma, 20, who's also known by his stage name Tyler, The Creator, has nearly a quarter of a million followers on Twitter.

He told them people in Brisbane were "racist as f---" and he was "uncomfortable" and wanted to go home.

"I get this weird vibe," he wrote.

Later, he added "Im in Brisbane Right Now....They hate Niggas Out Here...." but added that MLBRN (Melbourne) "was cool".

Okonma later told the crowd at his sold-out show at West End's The Hi-Fi on Sunday night that he'd had a run-in with a ''racist asshole'' at a KFC in Brisbane.

He told the crowd he wouldn't judge Brisbane on one person's behaviour, however his earlier tweets remain in his stream.

Regardless, Okonma seemed to enjoy the show: "F---ing Brisbane Show Was F---ing SICK!", he tweeted later.

"So F---king Happy. Australia Was F---king Fun Over All. Thanks To The White People Down Under (Except For Them Hating Racist From Earlier)."

Okonma, who is now happily back in the US ("Its Been A Week Since I Had My Phone, So Happy To Be Home"), later wrote that he was taking the popular Australian pastime of "planking" back with him.

He's a prolific tweeter, constantly sharing his thoughts with his nearly 250,000 followers on everything from his taste in women - "I Am On The Search For A Freckled Girl My Age" - to his conversations with other musicians "I Asked Chris Brown If He Liked Soup".

At the time of writing, his most recent tweet was that he had just taken a nap.

I can't believe you guys think this is news. I was at the show and I totally agree with what Tyler said, Brisbane can be racist as F---, but he also said he's not going judge a whole town by one guy, "just gonna let an arsehole be an arsehole" I think his words were.

Brisbane is just a big small country town & can sometimes be quite afraid of its own cultural diversity.

And this is news why?

I was recently in the USA and they are so polite it's almost patronising. Does that mean I accuse them of being 'superior'? I think not. They are just generally polite people - nothing like their TV and Movie images.

How stupid is this guy. To claim that a city is racist just because he had an argument while buying fried chicken!

Grow up and stop blaming every problem on racism.

Btw my child is half aussie half African American (born in Louisianna USA) so no I am not racist just because I think your an idiot for tweeting what you did.

Well he sounds like a bit of a douche and his tweets sound very logical and well put together.

since when is Tweeting journalism?

Wow!!!!

What else happened on twitter today? I mean it's not if I wanted to know this stuff I could set up an account and "follow" them for myself if I actually cared....

I agree with Tyler though it is generally not just racist but xenophobic. It is the rampant red neck intolerant attitude towards anything that isn't a Protestant, white and Queensland. The simple minds and sometimes the not so simple grasp this xenophobia. The politics and mindset of many are still set in the 1800s

So one loser from one town in Australia and he blurts out that blanket statement about the whole country? Even to judge Brisbane on that is pretty pathetic.

Look at our State of Origin team, all different races and religions. Look at what happens when a small, close minded lobby group makes a homophobic stand - we as Queenslanders stand up to them and show them that their attitudes are the minority.

I'm so sick of people having unpleasant experiences and then blaming the whole town/state/country. I hate it even more when I see self righteous statements from people saying how ashamed they are for living/being from here.

Also, I think the fact that the North American rap culture is doesn't fit naturaly over here probably accounts for the wierd vibe they felt. People probably thought they were a bunch of Aussie kids being Seppo-wannabe's.

Haha, all these people saying this isn't news, yet they were interested enough to open the story, read it, and then go through the rigmarole of leaving a comment.

Sounds like this guy might benefit from some "edukashun". It's really disappointing how so many brainless and talentless idiots around the world can make so much money.

Not sure about "niggas" or "wiggas", but a lot of us really hate hip hop.
