TNA world champion Kurt Angle has declared his innocence - after being accused of assaulting girlfriend Rhaka Khan.

In a blistering defence of their client, Angle's legal team issued a statement to The Sun denying all wrong doing.

As we reported over the weekend, the grappler had been accused of physically assaulting the TNA Knockout and stealing her phone to delete any 'evidence'.

When police arrested Kurt, outside a Starbucks which Rhaka was in, they charged him with harassment, driving while suspended and possession of human growth hormone.

However Angle, released on bail, will tell any future court hearing that there is no evidence of abuse and all the other charges also fall down.

His lawyer's statement reads: "Unfortunately the PFA (Protection From Abuse) process allows women - and men on occasion - to fabricate a tale to intake individuals within the court system without any corroborating evidence whatsoever.

"The result is that innocent people are served with PFAs that did not do anything. In Kurt's case, that is precisely what happened. The women involved has no injuries, was not threatened and absolutely no conflict occurred.

"We are confident that once a court actually hears the evidence, the PFA will be dismissed.

Kurt Angle Video: Cries, Says Girlfriend Is Crazy, More

Angle painted a picture of a manipulative Biggers getting him arrested because Angle wasn't interested in marrying her and had attempted numerous times to break off the relationship. He claimed that a week before the arrest, he had attempted to call the police on Biggers but she "took the phone from me and left." Angle claimed she had tried to control his life and didn't want him seeing his children. Angle said he saw a lot of "red flags" in the relationship.

"I don't like confrontation, so I kind of back away from it. This is really hard for me. I spent nine hours in jail and it was the lowest point of my life," Angle said as he started to break down crying pleading for his reputation. "I was sitting there in a county jail thinking about why I even started dating this girl. I don't even know when I'm allowed back in my own home. I just hope that the hearing goes okay and I can move back into my home. I just want my life back."

Breaking News: Kurt Angle Returns Home, Khan Kicked Out

Kurt Angle and Trenesha Biggers were in court today, for the protection from abuse order that Biggers filed against Angle. According to WTAE Channel 4 News in Pittsburgh, Angle is now allowed to return to his home, and ex-girlfriend Trenesha Biggers (TNA star Rhaka Khan) will not be allowed to reside there. Angle had the following comments on the situation…

"It's been about 10 days. I can't wait to get home. Thank God. She's out of my life. I will be exonerated. This girl obviously had some kind of motive. We'll see in court, whether it's financial or she wanted to be in a relationship that I didn't want to be in. I can't really say anything further."

Angle will be back in court on September 15th to face harassment charges against Biggers.

WPXI News out of Pittsburgh spoke with Trenesha Biggers. Biggers commented on her possible future with TNA, stating the following…

"I was told that by filing the PFA I was forcing them to choose between the two of us. I knew that when I filed it. I knew there was no way I was probably going to be able to work there anymore. I've forgiven so many times for what he's done to me, and I've been around him and been fine, but now, he's gone and slandered me. In the wrestling ring, you got to be able to trust the person you're working with and know that they're not going to hurt you."
