I tought Sunday School at my church for children about 12 years old. To hold the attention of the boys, and to validate their nature, I found myself going to the Psalms quite a bit. The Psalms glorify war, and God’s being on your side. I also put martial arts pictures on the wall. I was not trying to advocate any kind of macho lifestyle–I suppose I was trying to establish an appreciation of chivalry.

Well, the management let it be known that they would like a new teacher for that class. A woman took over, and immediately put up these sweet little pictures of these moppet-like children hugging each other and going around with these dopey, loving expressions.
