What, allow Germans to actually see and appreciate the greatness of their own and European works of art, outrageous! That could cause feelings of racial pride.
As we know only too well, any feelings of national dignity and honor are strictly verboten in Germany since 1945.
The paintings of Magritte, Dali, Rothko et al can no longer really be called modern art. Works like “The Persistence of Memory” http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/d/dd/The_Persistence_of_Memory.jpg are now, thanks to their fame and age, considered classics. Why can’t they just build an additional wing to house everything, even if the wing is only a temporary structure that will be used until a permanent one is built? What is the big friggin’ problem?
