Oct 13 (Reuters) – President Donald Trump, in a speech to Israel’s parliament, spotlighted mega-donor Miriam Adelson’s outsized influence on U.S. policy toward Israel, recalling her frequent White House visits with her late husband, casino mogul Sheldon Adelson.
Sheldon Adelson, who died in 2021, assembled the world’s largest casino empire as head of Las Vegas Sands Corp (LVS.N), opens new tab and put much of his fortune into nurturing conservative politicians and policies in the United States and Israel.
Both Adelsons have been known for their philanthropy and business ventures in Israel and donations to Jewish causes.
She loves Israel,” Trump told the Knesset on Monday, crediting the couple with shaping decisions like his 2017 recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, his 2018 move of the U.S. embassy to the holy city, and his 2019 endorsement of Israeli sovereignty over the occupied Golan Heights.
Gesturing to Adelson, an Israeli-born physician and a major donor to his presidential campaigns, Trump said, “Stand up, Miriam,” before recounting how the Adelsons would regularly call and visit him in the Oval Office.

President Trump gave a speech before the Knesset on Monday touting his subservience to the Jewish state and praising the influence of Israel First GOP megadonor Miriam Adelson and her late husband, Sheldon.

“I’m gonna get her in trouble with this one, but I actually asked her once, ‘So, Miriam, I know you love Israel. What do you love more? Israel. The United States or Israel?’ She refused to answer. That might mean Israel,” the president said.
Miriam’s late husband, Sheldon Adelson, was also a major contributor to Trump’s previous presidential campaigns, and Trump credited the couple for pro-Israel moves he made in his first administration, including recognizing the Israeli annexation of the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
“Miriam and Sheldon would come into the office, they’d call me. I think they had more trips to the White House than anybody else I could think of. Look at her sitting there so innocently, she got $60 billion in the bank … and she loves Israel,” Trump said in his Knesset address, which Miriam attended.
“Her husband was a very aggressive man, but I loved him, very supportive of me. And he’d call up, ‘Can I come over and see you?’ I say, ‘Sheldon, I’m the president of the United States, it doesn’t work that way. He’d come in and do good, though. But they were very responsible for so much, including getting me thinking about Golan Heights,” Trump added.
When Trump predicted on the campaign trail that we’d get “tired of winning,” I guess he was only talking about Israel.
Of course, Netanyahu and the rest of the gang’s praise for Trump is purely tactical. They know Trump appreciates flattery, and so they’re laying it on thick.

Hamas Accepts Raw Deal In Hope Trump Will Force Israel to Withdraw From Gaza

Hamas, two years into the Gaza genocide, has reportedly accepted a raw deal in which they’ll give up their captives in the hope that President Trump will force Israel to go through with a complete withdrawal from Gaza.

“The new “ceasefire deal” is going to be a repeat of the January one. Trump will take credit and guarantee it, they let in some aid and get their rape-soldier prisoners out, then they will restart the genocide again and the new main line will be “WE NEED KHAMAS TO DISARM”, with Trump leading the charge on behalf of his masters,” Zei Squirrel commented on X.
I agree with their negative assessment.
“The two guarantors of this ‘ceasefire deal’ are Trump and Steve Witkoff. So in other words, there are no guarantors, and everyone knows it. Hamas and the Palestinian resistance know it too, but they were left with no alternative than to have this play out and at least make the rape-soldier prisoner excuse drop away from the propaganda laundering of the genocide,” Zei Squirrel said in a follow-up tweet.
“They also made sure to emphasize that it was Erdogan-Turkey, UAE, Jordan, Saudi, Qatar and Egypt who played a key role in pushing them to accept this grotesque farce of a fake ‘ceasefire’, so that when they restart the genocide everyone will know exactly who was behind it.”
