Ten bus piled up to form a tower. (each represent 10 floors of WTC) The second one to the top had a fire. Will the whole tower collapse? For common sense, the bottom eight won't be affected. Because the construction was designed to bear more weight then 100 floors of building.
Yet it collapsed like a free fall. (One demolished in 10 seconds and the other one in 10.5 seconds)
If you play building blocks and pile up a 100 floor tower. What will happen if you take away the blocks at the corner of 83th floor? (One building of WTC was hit at the corner) It will collapse to the side where one corner is missing. (Suppose everything went on as government said that fire melt the iron beam.)

A cornerstone of the cons' movement to consolidate power in the hands of a wealthy corporate elite is the campaign to end corporate income taxes altogether-- and leave the rest of us to pick up the entire tab for corporate use of our institutions and corporation despoliation of our commons.
Corporations are taxed because they use public services; they are therefore expected to help pay for them-- sort of like the example in chapter 2 of the Hershey bar in the 7-Eleven store.
Corporations make use of a workforce educated in public schools that are paid for with tax dollars. They use roads and highways paid for with tax dollars. They use water, sewer, power, and communications rights of way paid for and maintained with taxes. They demand the same protection from fire and police departments as everybody else, and they enjoy the benefits of national sovereignty and the stability provided by the military and institutions like the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the same as all residents of democratic nations.
In fact, corporations are heavier users of taxpayer-provided services and institutions than are average citizens. Taxes pay for our court systems, which are most heavily used by corporations to enforce contracts. Taxes pay for our Treasury Department and other government institutions that maintain a stable currency essential to corporate activity. Taxes pay for our regulation of corporate activity, from ensuring safety in the workplace and a pure food and drug supply to limiting toxic emissions in our air and water.
Under George W. Bush, the burden of cleaning up toxic wastes produced by corporate activity has largely shifted from the original polluter-funded Superfund and other programs to taxpayer-funded cleanups (as he did in Texas as governor there before becoming president).
Every year millions of cases of cancer, emphysema, neurological disorders, and other conditions caused by corporate pollution-- cases like my dad's-- are paid for in whole or in part by government-funded programs. From Medicare and Medicaid to government subsidies of hospitals, universities, and research institutions, these programs are funded by tax dollars through the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH). Most drugs marketed in the United States were first discovered by taxpayer-funded research at universities.
Because it's well understood that corporations use our tax-funded institutions at least as heavily as citizens do, they've traditionally been taxed at similar rates. For example, the top corporate tax rate in the United States was 48 percent during the Carter administration, down from a peak of 53 percent during the Eisenhower and Kennedy years.
Today it stands at 35 percent despite a May 2001 suggestion by Bush administration Treasury secretary Paul O'Neill that there should be no corporate income tax whatsoever. This was the opening salvo in a very real war to have working people bear all the costs of the commons and of governance while the wealthy corporate elite derive most of its benefits.
In a feudal state, historian Ernest Bloch reminds us, "The nobles need not pay taxes."
Airplane Momentum was Insufficient to Cause Sway of WTC2

Abstract. A fundamental model of the sway of the WTC2 tower, indicates that if it was hit at the fastest speed estimate (FEMA’s 590mph), squarely and with no spillage, by a Boeing 767-200ER, heaviest version, with its maximum takeoff weight of 395,000 lb, then the WTC2 tower must have weighed about 300,000tons, if the NIST sway record is accurate. Including 10,000tons of furniture, my three independent estimates of the tower weight average 302,000tons; midrange 295,000tons. The usually stated 500,000ton weight of the WTC2 tower is too heavy. FEMA’s 590mph exceeds the sometimes specified “maximum speed” of 556.5mph (and this would be sustainable only at higher altitude). The weight would have been less than maximum takeoff weight, due to using fuel between Boston and New York. The absence of longlasting flame at the entrance holes, suggests that the remaining fuel load might have been even less than the official estimate of 10,000 gallons. The empty weight of this version of the 767-200ER, 84,820kg, plus the maximum payload, 35,610kg (although passenger occupancy was 33%, maybe there was heavy cargo), plus 10,000gal fuel at 7.2 lb/gal, gives 337,000 lb for the airplane weight. This upper bound, multiplied by the upper-bound speed of 556.5 mph, proves that the momentum would have been less than needed. NIST’s estimate of the airplane weight, and the speed estimate obtained by compromise between MIT and NIST, are much less, than these upper bounds. Other features also suggest that the main event was in the WTC2 basement.
The Boeing 767. Allegedly, WTC2 was struck by a Boeing 767-200. According to Jane’s, the heaviest version of the 767-200 is a version of the 767-200ER with a “gross weight” of 395,000 lb; the website “zap16.com” gives specifications of a 767-200ER with “maximum takeoff weight” of 395,000 lb; presumably these airplanes are the same. According to zap16.com, the maximum speed is 556.5mph (presumably this means safe steady flight at optimum altitude); the maximum payload is 35,610kg, empty weight is 84,820kg, and maximum fuel load is 24,000gal. The weight on hitting WTC2 would have been less than maximum takeoff weight, due to using fuel between Boston and New York. Faster and/or lower-altitude flight, and a circuitous route, would have used more fuel than normal. About 10,000gal fuel was on board each WTC airplane at impact (FEMA report, Secs. 2.2 & 2.2.1.2). Even this estimate seems high in view of the absence of flame or extreme heat at the entrance wounds minutes later, as evidenced by the video of a woman waving from the hole in WTC1. Although passenger occupancy was only 33% on UAL 175 (the WTC2 airplane) (vs. the usual 49% for this run according to the 9/11 Commission), there might have been heavy cargo; in any case, adding the empty weight, to the maximum payload, to 10,000gal of fuel (at 7.2 lb/gal; Chevron’s webpage on aviation fuel gives 6.76 lb/gal for kerosene jet fuel and 6.36 for another type of jet fuel, both at 60 deg F.) gives an upper bound for the weight, assuming that there was no more than 10,000gal of fuel at impact, of 337,000 lb. NIST estimates 9120 gallons of fuel at 6.8 lb/gal, only 13,070kg payload (cargo, passengers, crew), and 277,580 lb total (NIST, Table 4-2, p. 69; & Table 4-3, p. 71).
Only FEMA estimated a speed, 590 mph, greater than the published maximum speed. Hart-Weidlinger estimate 550 mph, MIT estimates 503 +/- 38 mph, and NIST (from analysis of five videos) estimates 542 +/- 24 mph (all from NIST, Table 7-7, p. 269). Combining MIT and NIST in a meta-analysis, gives a maximum-likelihood estimate of 528 mph.
About 1% of the momentum of the alleged 767 was lost out the other sides of WTC2. The engine, or part of an engine, found on the sidewalk, had originally weighed 9447 lb if it was the PW4000 of such a Boeing 767, and its location implied a retained speed, on exiting, of 120 mph (NIST, Executive Summary p. lxxxiii & Table 4-5). This engine could have carried away up to 0.6% of the upper-bound momentum. The escaping fuel retained less than 1% of its momentum, and overall, between 1 and 1.5% of the WTC2 airplane momentum was still retained at 0.6 sec according to computer simulation (NIST, Fig. 9-28 & p. lxxxiii).
The impact was not perpendicular. NIST gives 15 +/- 2 degrees trajectory yaw as consistent with video and the entrance hole, and 6 +/- 2 degrees trajectory pitch; other investigators give comparable angles (NIST, Table 7-4, p. 265 & Table 7-7, p. 269). Assuming that the NIST sway chart measures perpendicular to the impact face, the angles multiply the effective momentum by a factor cos(15)*cos(6) = 96%.
According to Jane’s, the heaviest version of the 767-300 is a version of the 767-300ER with gross weight 412,000 lb. The 767-400 also would be heavy; the 767-400ER (but not the basic 767-400) has a longer wingspan than the other 767s. Heavier airplanes (e.g., 747, B52, C5 Galaxy, Antonov 124) either have longer wingspans and would not fit into the entrance hole, or else they have more wing engines.
The WTC2 tower. Here are my three estimates for the weight of the WTC2 tower. The Sears Tower in Chicago is a building of similar construction and vintage (completed in 1974 vs. 1972 for the WTC), and similar height, shape (though taller, the Sears is stepped, giving it a somewhat lower average height than the WTC, which would tend to make the Sears lighter), and size. The weight of a skyscraper is approximately proportional to its volume if the construction type and height are the same. Rentable floor area is a fair proxy for volume. So we have the conservative estimate:
222,500tons (internet value for weight of Sears Tower) * 4.3million rentable sq ft for WTC2 / 3.8million rentable sq ft for Sears Tower + 10,000tons furniture = 262,000tons
10,000 tons of furniture is 4.9 lb per rentable sq ft if it is put into the 110 above-ground stories, assuming that rentable area also is found in the 6 sub-basement stories. I.e.:
10,000tons * 2000 / (4.3million sq ft * 110/116) = 4.9 lb per rentable sq ft
The standard design maximum for such buildings is 50 lb static live load per sq ft but this of course is unrealistically high.
The John Hancock Center in Chicago weighs 174,500 tons according to the internet. It is a truncated pyramid. It gives a volume-proportional weight of 297,000tons + 10,000tons furniture = 307,000tons for WTC2 (my calculation in private email to several 9/11 investigators). The Hancock’s average height is 1107 * (1/2 + 1/4) = 830ft = 61% of WTC2; if 28/110=25% of WTC2 requires a 40,000ton correction, then 61% (the chart in Taranath, see below, is roughly linear) would require 21,000tons, for a total 328,000tons.
The engineering textbook by Taranath, 2nd ed., gives 144kg per cubic meter for the 28-story MTA Headquarters in Los Angeles; it is of construction similar to the WTC, but according to a chart in Taranath, an extra 40,000tons (midrange) of steel would be needed for the higher WTC; assuming that the extra steel is the only height correction, and also adding 10,000tons furniture, gives 315,000tons (my calculation in private email to several 9/11 investigators).
Internet sources all give 500,000tons for one WTC tower. Perhaps this is based on some deceptive bragging, e.g., adding part of the “bathtub”, or “maximum design live load”, not normally added. I could find no mention of the total mass of WTC1 or 2 in any report by the 9/11 Commission, FEMA, or NIST; the latter presents many numbers related to building weight, but how to add them up, is ambiguous.
So my three plausible, conservative estimates of the weight of the WTC2 tower are: 262,000tons, 328,000tons, and 315,000tons. Because of the Hancock's unusual shape, I'll average the figures obtained from the Sears Tower and (with height correction) the MTA bldg.; this gives 288,500tons, rounded to 290,000.
The sway. According to the NIST chart, published, inter alia, on the website http://www.nomoregames.net of Prof. Morgan Reynolds, WTC2 swayed 14” (first peak) at 70th flr height (presumably the top of the 70th flr). This is indicated by both the first peak, and by the second peak (third extremum) corrected for amplitude loss. Adding a 2% amplitude loss for the first quarter-cycle would make this 14.3”. The period was 11.1sec (9 cycles / 100 sec). For purposes of sway, the impact was approximately instantaneous because 90% of the airplane’s momentum was delivered to the building within 0.3 sec (NIST, Fig. 9-28 ). Assuming that the amplitude of sway is proportional to the square of the height, then Vb, the maximum speed of the building at the top, satisfies the eqn.:
(11.1 / 4) sec per quarter cycle * Vb * (70/110)^2 correction for 70th flr * 2/pi correction for average speed over cycle = 14.3inches
So Vb = 20.0inches per sec. Let L be the height of WTC2, Mb its mass; Mp the airplane mass and Vp its speed, assumed to be 590mph. The effect of horizontal momentum delivered by the ground to the base at impact is not very large but let us include it and call it “ I ” (it will be negative, i.e., opposing the airplane momentum). The vertical impulse and torque delivered at the base will be neglected (i.e., approximating the building as a thin rod); another justification for this is that the vertical forces act more slowly, due to the stretching of long beams, so they are part of the ongoing oscillation, not part of the instantaneous impulse. Though the sway was measured at the 70th floor, the impact spanned the 78th through 84th floors (FEMA report, Sec. 2.2.2.1)(9/11 Commission Report says 77th – 85th), midrange height 80.5, keeping the top-of-story convention. According to NIST, the 80th flr had the most airplane debris (i.e., height 79.5), but on the other hand, the fuel averaged a few stories higher, so 80.5 is probably the best estimate overall.
Conservation of momentum and of angular momentum give two eqns for the unknowns Mp and I:
Vp * Mp + I = Vb * Mb / 3 (integral calculus on x^2 gives the 1/3)
Vp * Mp * (80.5/110) * L = Vb * Mb * L / 4 (integral calculus on x^3 gives the ¼)
Solving,
Mp = (110 / 80.5) * (1/4) * 20in per sec * 580,000,000 lb / (590mph * 5280 * 12 / 3600)
= 382,000 lb
A 405,000 lb value results if 556.5mph is used instead of 590mph. If the speed is 556.5mph, and the weight less than 337,000 lb as above, then the airplane is less than 83% massive enough. Even at 590mph and 337,000 lb, it is only 88% massive enough. Using the NIST estimate 277,580 lb, and NIST/MIT compromise for speed, 528 mph, considering 1% momentum loss out the sides of WTC2 and 4% momentum reduction due to obliquity, the airplane only has 62% enough momentum.
I assumed that every floor of the building sways sinusoidally, all in phase, and that the building weight per story, does not vary appreciably with height. If the amplitude of sway is proportional, to the height to the "alpha" power, i.e., (height)^(alpha), then (I calculated) the necessary airplane weight is a monotonically increasing function of alpha, for alpha > 1.2. Also, alpha cannot be less than 2, unless the building bends sharply at the base. So, the height^2 formula which I used above, gives the smallest (most conservative) estimate of the airplane weight, for any plausible choice of exponent in such a power law. If the exponent is 4 instead of 2, Mp must be multiplied by (110 / 80.5)^(4 – 2) * 4 / 6 = 1.24.
If the weight per story varies linearly as 1 – a * ( x – 0.5 ), for 0 < x < 1, with 0 < a < 2, then the “1 / 4”, in the above formula for Mp, is replaced by “1 / 4 – 3 * a / 40”. So, using exponent 2 as above, if the weight of the 110th flr is half that of the 1st flr, then a = 2/3 and Mp is 20% less; but counteracting this, the exponent alpha would be greater (whiplash), tending to increase Mp.
Explosives in the sub-basement. Building engineer Mike Pecoraro gave Chief Engineer magazine (2002) a detailed eyewitness account of catastrophic explosion damage to the sub-basement of WTC1, occurring either simultaneous with, or at about the time of, alleged airplane impact at WTC1, but greatly exceeding the damage near the elevators (logically, this contradicts the 9/11 Commission theory that the basement explosions were mainly due to a fuel-air mixture that came down from above through the elevator shafts). Such an explosion, from a moderate amount of conventional explosive placed under the “impact” side of WTC2, and synchronized with the “airplane impact”, could have imparted the needed momentum if placed beneath or within support columns. The momentum obtained would be somewhat unpredictable due to column failure. A 767 speed of almost 556mph and weight of almost 337,000 lb, would be plausible but would give only 80% of the observed sway according to my interpretation of the NIST chart. Modeling WTC2 as a rigid homogeneous block weighing 290,000tons, a mere 26kg of well-placed "arms control standard" (1000 small calories per gram) TNT would release energy equal to the gravitational potential energy needed to tip it 14" to the side at 70th floor level (my calculation in private email to several 9/11 investigators). The efficiency of such an improvised piston would require this amount of TNT to be multiplied by some factor, perhaps 10.
The NIST sway chart shows two superimposed sinusoids. The primary sinusoid has period 11.1 sec (9 cycles in 100 sec) (agreeing with the north-south sway period for WTC2 calculated by NIST, 10.7 sec) (NIST, Sec. 3.2.11, Table 3-2) and decays exponentially by about a factor of 2 in 100 sec. The secondary sinusoid has period about 60 sec and decays exponentially about twice as fast. These periods correspond accurately to the first-order seiche periods of the “lakes” of concrete in the aboveground and belowground parts of WTC2, resp. (my calculation in email to several 9/11 investigators). A typical concrete floor slab in a skyscraper varies from about 3 to 6” deep over a corrugated steel support, averaging 4”, as does most of the flooring of the WTC. Though separated by rigid steel members, the slabs tilt and slide, sloshing much like the incompressible layers of water in a first-order seiche. Limnology textbooks give the period T=2*L/sqrt(g*h) where L is the length of the lake, g the acceleration of gravity, and h the depth. The period is independent of density. The secondary (due to belowground slabs) seiche of WTC2 was surprisingly strong (its amplitude was about 1/3 that of the primary, aboveground slab seiche) and it began at maximum speed, that is, in phase with the primary seiche. So both amplitude and phase suggest that the belowground disturbance was the main event; it did not derive its energy from the aboveground disturbance.
Other anomalies. “No Boeing 767-200 aircraft was available for inspection.” (NIST, Sec. 4.2.2). Why not, if this was the most important event in U.S. history since Pearl Harbor? NIST had to look at a 767-300 instead. Although a “minor modification” of NIST’s three simulations allowed the starboard 767 engine to exit WTC2 by passing between two floor slabs, “…no portion of the [WTC1] landing gear was observed to exit [WTC1] in the simulations, but rather was stopped inside, or just outside, of the core.” (NIST, Ch. 9, pp. 345, 353). Yet we see a photo of the landing gear on the street and the tire looks pretty good.
About the author. The author, Joseph C. Keller, M. D., received a B.A. from Harvard University cum laude in Mathematics (not Applied Mathematics) in 1977. He also completed the undergraduate major requirements for Physics at Harvard though Harvard did not have "double majors". He was awarded an NSF fellowship in Physics and admitted to the graduate program in Applied Physics at Cal Tech, but did not attend.
For twelve months during 2003-2004, he was paid under an NSF grant to be (nominally half-time) mathematical consultant to an academic engineering group. He did none of the engineering, but most of the mathematics. The leader of that group received a significant professional honor for that project.

Alex Jones was joined on air yesterday by a former Sergeant in the United States Army named Lauro "LJ" Chavez. Chavez was stationed at MacDill AFB where he claims he witnessed unusual preparations for a potential airplane hitting the base on the morning of 9/11 and distinctly heard officers talking about a stand down. This has led him to go public in questioning the NORAD stand down and the demolition of the twin towers.
Chavez proceeded to detail the key discussions that he heard inside the bunker on the day of 9/11:
"I didn't get to see tower one hit, I was in there talking with individuals and i was tired, I'd been there since four in the morning. Then all of a sudden everybody started hustling and bustling. it was like NASA when Apollo 13 was about to crash, everybody running around, and then they put it on the big screen, CNN with the tower on fire.
Then we see the other plane come in and hit it and at that point everybody is standing up. The air force had commanders in contact with NORAD. The plane, or whatever, hit the Pentagon and then we were like 'Why aren't they scrambling jets?' We were asking, there was eight or nine people... Colonels and Lieutenant Colonels asking the Lieutenant Colonel in charge of the air force 'why isn't NORAD scrambling jets? and he said 'we received an order to stand down''. And that just perplexed everybody."
Mr Chavez did not know the Lieutenant Colonel and so does not know his name, yet if he can be identified, then we have uncovered a direct link to the stand down order. If that man or any others who were present at CENTCOM on 9/11 can be identified and made to testify under oath, then the whole cover operation could be blown. A real independent investigation would have secured this.
