I decided to get this bc it has a program similar to "word" which allows you to save notes from a meeting without carrying around a heavy laptop.

anyway, I have to say that upon spending some time with this device, my first inclination was to think to myself, trite as it sounds, "the future we've all been waiting for is here."

The things weighs ~ 1 lb. The clarity and sharpness of the picture on the screen CANNOT be overemphasized, and I have a very good quality laptop. It really needs to be seen to be believed.

The keyboard is a pop-up, on screen keyboard, but the "keys" are large enough to make typing fairly easy.

The number of applications offered are amazing.

You can use the app store, of course, right from the ipad. There is something especially rewarding about being in bed at 2 am and deciding that you feel like watching "return of the King," ordering it, and watching it in incredible HD without ever having to leave your bed.

This device is TRULY incredible and, if you can afford it, I highly recommend it.

If you have any other questions or want further clarifications, please ask. At this point, you might be better off waiting for "ipad 2," although from what I hear the only major innovation it will have is a camera for conference meetings and such, and who the wants that anyway, you ca use your laptop if you REALLy need to do that.
