Sleep tight, Houstonians. These brave dy...women are just as competent as the men.

Houston’s first all-female fire crew made history Thursday night, operating a fire pumper truck and hitting the streets together for the first time.

“We joked about this amongst ourselves,” said Captain Bonnie Richter, a 14 -ear veteran of the Houston Fire Department. “I think it’s pretty cool between us, but it shouldn’t be different for anyone else.”

Richter was joined on shift by three other women, who either through rotation or prior scheduling, found themselves in the glare of history at Fire Station 10.

“We’re going to do the same job that we came to do this morning. It’s not going to be different for us,” added Richter...

Members of the crew said they hoped not to be singled out for any special recognition, calling themselves no different from anyone else.

Ain't that magnanimous of 'em. They've already been singled out for special recognition, but they humbly decline it nonetheless.

Comments are interesting.

wow thats my aunt christina Henandez the only hispanic out of these 4 women im glad she finally got recinision:confused: .she worked so hard , had long nights and even put up with some jerks but she never gave up an god did this for a reason

You mean, G-d did this for a reason, precious Hispanic invader.

Everyone was a firefighter and was required to meet the same standards. We had one Individual Performance Standard (IPS). The only difference may be that the females use a different technique to achieve the same standard. The male "brute strength" technique, although effective, may be off set by a different technique used by females to achieve the same required standard.

There ya have it...exactly the same standards were met by both sexes. The females just used a "different technique". There's probably a "different technique" which would enable me to deadlift 500 pounds as well as someone who just uses "brute strength", also.

Amerikwa just keeps getting more advanced and progressive and diversified by the day, and I say it's about time! I sure am glad I didn't live back in the dark days of firemen.

An anti-semite is someone who knows what's going on.
