This is an email I received a few days ago. Several very good topics are discussed here. Some of the info is a little dated, but still a good read.

Maybe....and Maybe Not
by Fred Marshall Jr.
August 11, 2006

For the past 48 hours we’ve been inundated with wall-to-wall news that British intelligence and law enforcement authorities, with cooperation from the U.S. and other intelligence-gathering countries, have thwarted an Al Qaida plot to explode up to ten U.S.-based commercial airlines on regularly-scheduled flights from London to key destinations in the United States.

Maybe these reports are dead accurate, and maybe they aren’t. The fact is that we don’t really know for sure. Put your political views, prejudices and patriotic loyalties aside for a few minutes and think this through with me using logic and pure common sense.

What grabbed my attention during the first 24-hours of reporting has been the persistent and consistent use of a wide variety of amorphous words and phrases, expressions of unspecific meaning, and projected potential scenarios devoid of specific details, relentlessly used by all the media sources. Everything is indelibly vague when we hear “potential,” “possible,” “suspected,” “it is believed,” “alleged,” “seemed to suggest,” “suspected plot,” “expected,” “suggests,” “implies,” “similar to,” “bears the hallmark of Al Qaida,” “hints,” “officials speculate,” and so forth. There is simply too much hedge room inherent in these initial reports. Several times I have heard “security officials stress that they have no knowledge of any current imminent threat against any specific U.S. flight, but….“ and “authorities speculate that ….” and “have determined that the right combination of liquids could be combined after terrorists are onboard…” and the like.

Though reports claim that a number of Islamic or Muslim men have been arrested in and around London and in Pakistan, I have yet to hear any definitive report that a specific plot has been discovered, only a “suspected” or “possible” plot. Half a dozen or so “suspected” terrorists “apparently” fled and avoided arrest, and it is “believed” that the “suspected” leaders and “possible” masterminds of the plot are among those who got away. It is “possible” that my grandmother escaped arrest too, especially since she died many years ago.

Key to this examination is the timing. Too many things are linked and interrelated to be mere coincidence. I don't believe in more than one coincidence. When three or more things seem to be coincidental, there is usually a snake in the woodpile somewhere.

First, Prime Minister Tony Blair and President Bush both suffer from sinking approval numbers. Reporting that a major plot, potentially more devastating than 9-11, has been discovered and prevented is certain to give both world leaders a boost in the polls; people will breathe a temporary sigh of relief and think “our leaders have saved us.”

Then there are the rapidly-approaching off-year Congressional elections in November. “Maybe these Republicans are doing a respectable job of protecting us, and it may not be the time to risk turning our safety over to Democrats” sentiment will most certainly be a factor then. Votes are votes, and we all know that politicians of all stripes will sell their own mothers for votes. “It’s inconvenient but it’s better alive than dead” is already being heard from countless air travelers reluctantly resolved to contend with more inconveniences and delays than ever before.

Next is the recent announcement by BP (British Petroleum) that they have found extensive corrosion in a segment of their Alaskan pipeline and have shut down their largest oilfield there to allow for pipeline repairs. Think about that for a moment. There is quite an assortment of automated systems for mechanically and electronically inspecting the interiors of pipelines using a motorized detection device that continually “crawls” inside the pipeline and ultrasonically communicates all its findings to readers monitored by technicians. These systems have been in use for decades and alert pipeline owners and operators well in advance of any significant defect or deterioration that could threaten the integrity or efficiency of the systems.

They work much like those gadgets which continually clean swimming pools, except they are exponentially more complex and capable. It almost insults our intelligence to be told that suddenly, out of a clear blue sky, massive corrosion has been unexpectedly discovered that is so severe that the pipeline has to be shut down for repairs. For a gigantic oil company to shut down and deny itself the sale of 400,000 barrels of petroleum per day, shareholders would surely have the CEO and board of directors on the chopping block overnight, especially when they have had systems and technology to prevent that very thing in operation for decades. I don't believe their story.

But they can tell the world whatever they like. How many people can just run up to Alaska and look to see if the oil wells have, in fact, gone idle? Apparently someone has done just that because, within a week of the announcement, BP has modified its story and said they may have found ways to keep the system operating while the repairs are being effected. They have raised the prices, and that’s all they intended to do. Scare the public, raise the prices, remind them how lucky they are to have petroleum at any price, and then prepare to announce record profits again this quarter. We’ve been watching this tactic for decades, unfortunately.

So much for timing. Let’s look at the practical aspects and who stands to benefit.

Clearly, Blair and Bush head the list. Maybe a bunch of suspected terrorists have been rousted out and arrested and maybe they haven’t. Yes, we saw aerial footage of British law enforcement running raids and rounding up people while we were listening to newscasters tell us the “story,” but that footage could be months, even years, old and any manner of people could be the targets. Such a deception could be successfully pulled off with the close-held knowledge of only four people: Bush, Blair, and their directors of homeland security. All it would take is a carefully-worded press release handed to the mainstream press and we’d have the exact same outcome as we are seeing.

Who else will benefit? Congress clearly will, as it can hastily pass even more intrusive and invasive legislation, diminishing our Congressional rights and protections from abusive government even more.

Don’t forget that the uniform national I.D. Card becomes mandatory in May, 2008, pursuant to legislation already passed and signed into law. The people have to be conditioned some more between now and then, as there is quite a bit of opposition to it still, even though the legislation is history and most people believe it is pending or still under consideration. It’s a done deal.

Two years from now residents of the United States won’t be able to have bank accounts, buy or sell critical necessities of life, collect any government benefit, or travel on commercial conveyances or from state to state without the national I.D. card. Period. This latest scare will make more and more people grateful they live in the U.S. and they will cower down and accept even more limitations on their freedoms.

The United Kingdom has already been conditioned. Millions of them remember the bomb shelters and air raid sirens of WWII, they have dealt with IRA terrorism for decades, and the video surveillance in London is nearly total already. They lack many of the rights we cherish, such as the right to keep and bear arms. The United States must be brought up to speed.

We saw how the multiple bombings of the Murrah “Federal” Building (owned by the city of OKC) were executed to make us scared of domestic terrorists (militias, etc.) among our own people. Though several middle-eastern men were indisputably involved in that deception, it was blamed on McVeigh and Nichols, and the trials were whisked away to Denver so that juries could be comprised of people who did not know what residents of OKC knew.

They know there were multiple explosions, they know that none of the 42 federal agents and their staffers, or their 18 children, was in the building at 9:00 A.M. on that normal work day. They know the street out front was unharmed and perfectly level when they saw fire trucks spraying water onto the front of the building long after the last explosion occurred. They saw it on their local TV coverage before the feds took control of disseminating the information and the coverage was broadcast nationally. It was that scare that allowed Congress to nearly double the funding for some federal law enforcement agencies and approve the first Patriot Act without reading it first.

The overall strategy is as old as governments themselves: Create the problem, cause the desired reaction among the people, and offer the government solution that would not otherwise be accepted but will be under the “emergency” at hand. Problem-reaction-solution is the oldest and most effective tactic employed by the elite to control the masses in all of history. It certainly is nothing new.

Now, let's speculate a bit. Imagine yourself as a world leader, such as Blair or Bush. Imagine that the scenario the media are now telling us is accurate. You are facing a treacherous Al Qaida. A clear-cut plot has been uncovered to blow ten planes out of the sky and kill 3,000-plus people. Your intelligence and law enforcement people have uncovered the plot and arrested most of those involved. The immediate threat is over, unless Al Qaida has a Plan B up its sleeve.

You're the man, or at least you are one of the two men, with major decisions to make. Do you tell the people....indeed the world....and scare the socks off all of them? Do you broadcast details worldwide and let the enemy know exactly what you have learned and how you learned what you know? Do you give aid and comfort to the enemy by alerting them so they can adjust and overcome the mistakes they made this time? Do you disclose to them your current security weaknesses in airports and tell them what you are doing to correct them and how long it will be before they will be effective? Do you show them footage of disgruntled travelers so they'll take satisfaction in knowing their terrorism has been effective even though their plan failed?

I don't think so. What manner of soldier goes to such lengths to strengthen his enemy? Even if you stood on the threshold of making such a colossal blunder, your cohort would grab your arm and urge you to reconsider. Cooler heads would likely prevail.

Were that choice on my shoulders, I would dream up a believable but non-emergency reason to tighten security in airports. I would not mention anything about liquids which can be combined to construct explosives, I'd simply say we're tightening restrictions on what can and cannot be carried aboard commercial airlines. I would not even disclose that anyone had been apprehended and arrested. I'd leave Al Qaida to figure out that some of their key players had been discovered or detained when they found themselves unable to reach the ones I had in custody, and certainly would not tell them why they've been detained or how we caught them. They'd soon learn we had frozen their financial assets in banks, but they wouldn't know exactly why or how we found evidence against them.

My goal would be to make as much progress as possible toward the eventual and total defeat of the enemy. I would give him no help whatsoever. In fact, I'd expect my people to realize that every bit of help we give the enemy translates into some degree of loss of safety for us.

The only justification I can see for how the United States and Britain has handled this matter is to scare as many of us as badly as they can. I can see absolutely no other motive, certainly none that could remotely be be interpreted as furthering our progress in the war on terrorism.

In summary, review in your own mind the events of the past year, or even the past 15 years. We’ve gradually had the socks scared off of us, we’ve gradually been told how lucky we are to have what we have and enjoy the freedoms we enjoy, we’ve gradually been gouged out of more and more of our money (private property received in exchange for our labor), and we’ve gradually been robbed of more and more of our privacy and freedom.

Maybe the thus-far elusive Al Qaida is real and is as formidable as we have been told it is. Maybe it isn’t. Maybe Osama is frail and in bad health and actually of no real threat to our government or to our collective safety. Maybe he’s dead and we don’t know it, or maybe he’s dead and our government does know it but hasn’t told us.

The fact is that we don’t know much of anything for sure. All we [think we] “know” is what the mainstream media TELL us we should "know." The news Americans get through traditional means is controlled, altered, structured, and manipulated, it’s sanitized, and stories “they” don’t want us to hear are suppressed.

But it doesn’t matter much, so long as the pizza’s hot, the beer’s cold, the ball game’s coming on, and we’re gonna get laid tonight. What else is important?

Not much. Just lay on the couch and gain a few more pounds. In less than two years, we’ll have standardized national I.D. cards and, two years after that you’ll see the big push to have our identities and our personal, financial, medical and physical tracking information imbedded under our skin in a rice-sized database and transponder.

And the minute any one of us fails to do what government wants us to do, they’ll simply turn off our transponder and render us a “non-person” who won’t be able to buy or sell anything unless or until we bring ourselves into complete compliance with government mandates and guidelines.

Odds are that most of the people who will read this treatise have already voluntarily transformed themselves from “U.S. citizens” to “U.S. PERSONS” anyway. If you’ve signed an IRS Form W-9 or W-4, or any number of forms the banks require of you, since 2001, you have already exchanged your U.S. citizenship for the "U.S. Person" international status, making yourself subject to Internal Revenue Laws [for the first time] and you’re subject to the jurisdiction of the World Courts.

As many presidents have said, “The Constitution is just a piece of paper.”

We’ve had a good run though. We older Americans have lived during good times. Our choice is to be grateful and leave our offspring to fend for themselves and hope they make it in an “only-the-obedient-survives” society, or to become enraged, united, and do something to stop our runaway leaders and provide for our descendants as our founding fathers provided for us.

A good start is to vote ALL incumbents out of office this November and remind them THE PEOPLE still have some power. If we miss this one final opportunity, then our goose is cooked. The last grains of sand are trickling to the bottom of the hourglass.
