I foresee hundreds of thousands of casualties.

Disagree. The shitty quality of soldiers (women, fags, niggers, spics) these days is compensated for by the high quality of military equipment. To a large extent, the quality of ground-troops has been made less important in the American military.

The American military would not suffer serious damage in confrontation with any other country today, except perhaps if the UK, France and Russia got together... not likely.

Of course things do change, and I expect the Chinese military will be quite strong in 10 years or so.

Will the low quality soldiers be able to maintain the hi quality advanced weapons ?
Will the Arabs be clever enough to hire Russian and German engineers to design improvised weapons and tactics ?

Equipment, training, and shit like that have little to do why the US and it's allies are losing in Iraq and will continue to lose. The Iraqis have all the motivation in the world to win this war, they are fighting for their nation, religion, ancestors, culture, meaningful stuff. Yes, that is the crux of the problem . The only point that I would differ with is, replace 'we' with 'they', our leaders are the dense ones.

Americans tend to be very gadget-oriented -it has served us quite well in the past, but we are at a point where the technology may not be adequate to compensate for a shortage of military manpower, poor motivation, and unclear objectives with no real time-table established.
We have all this expensive, "cool stuff" at our disposal.
Do we have enough men with the courage of their convictions, and a clear-cut sense of purpose, driving them towards completeing a well-defined objective? No.
We are headed towards bad times -the US has lost a lot of prestige, and is looking more and more like an out-of-control bully ( and/or puppet of zionism ) to the rest of the world.
