Another stupid war for Israel?

You really do not have to have that good of a memory on this story. But it is good to put it into proper context if you can remember all the events that brought us to this point. Sometimes it is helpful to recall the series of events that led up to current situations to better evaluate these situations. It prevents stupidity of the facts. We are happy to help bring those pieces together on the subject of Iran.

You will recall, it was just over a month ago that the media created a circus quoting President Obama and his peers crowing about Iran’s so called “covert uranium enrichment facility”. We covered it at length in our ”Bibi The Great” post. Iran seemed sort of surprised about all of this talk of “covert” facilities and thought they had notified the proper authorities. Of course a Presidential sound byte about “covert uranium enrichment facility” is more fun for the mass media and it certainly goes along way to help support Israel’s interests of keeping all of its neighbors without any significant military deterrence options.

So, Iran shrugged off the controlled mass-media headline hubbub and invited the IAEA (International Atomic Agency) to come into the “once-secret uranium enrichment” facility. We reported about how Iran was happy to allow the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog agency to see for itself, therefore it “pre-empted a conspiracy against Tehran by the US and its allies”. Of course, we all know “the US and its allies” is just another way to say all governments beholden to Israel. We covered it at length in our ”Open, Public Top Secrets” post.

Iran rolls out the welcome mat for the World to see and allows the United Nations in to inspect the so-called “secret uranium enrichment” site that the IAEA had been aware of for years. So early this month the United Nations experts reported that they found “nothing to be worried about”. That’s right, nothing to worry about! We also covered that at length in our “No worries! Says the IAEA” post. That is where we highlighted Amnesty Internationals call for the U.S. government to “suspend military aid to Israel” and shared a highlight from that article that “The US has long been the largest arms supplier to Israel….the US will provide $30 billion in military aid to Israel.” Always good to get a refresher on that.

From there, we fast forward to today, just a couple of weeks later, and get headlines that “Iran war games to defend nuclear sites”. From the BBC we learn that “Iran has begun five days of large-scale war games to simulate attacks on its nuclear sites, officials said, warning it will retaliate if provoked.”. Iran is wanting to not only test it’s preparedness, it is wanting to advertise it, probably in a show of force to warn its nasty neighbor, the Gallant Little Ally, the “beacon of Democracy”, Israel, that it will not be intimidated.

We learn in the AFP article, that Iran is willing to compromise with the U.N. and Western powers on the nuclear issue. Tehran is reporting that it needs the nuclear fuel for hospitals that depend on it. And there is a valid medical use for this nuclear fuel and nobody is contesting that. Iran is also willing to enter into and exchange program and get this needed nuclear fuel from abroad. But, there is an issue of trust. Iran is not willing to just trust Israel’s surrogate “democracies”, it wants guarantees. Can you blame them?

So one of Iran’s envoys to the IAEA is insisting that Tehran is ready and happy to discuss obtaining the fuel from abroad but “The main issue is how to get a guarantee for the timely supply of fuel which Iran needs.” That does sound reasonable enough to me. Given the whole chain of events I mentioned above, I think it is really more than reasonable. The Iranian envoy to the IAEA goes on to point out some of the hypocrisy involved with nuclear restrictions when your next door neighbor happens to be Israel.

Iran is in the process of conducting war games to make sure the world knows it is not going to just roll over for Israel. Now out of context, that would seem like a fairly bold and confrontational move. I can understand that. But put into context, evaluating all of the stories and series of events that led to this point in time, who can blame Iran at all. The AFP article also quotes a ” commander of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards said on Sunday that its air defences would annihilate Israeli warplanes if they attacked.”

Here in the U.S., it is the controlled mass media that serves as our primary reminder; to help us put things into context. And it is exactly that source that will allow us to draw the wrong conclusions, or at least come to a less informed understanding of what is actually happening in the world. The controlled mass media will exaggerate news that is in Israel’s interests and downplay or completely ignore news that is not in Israel’s interests. That allows the American public to come to the wrong conclusions.

We are on the brink of another military show-down with Israel’s best interests at heart. We are led to believe that there were just no other options. And that is because we are not encouraged to draw the proper conclusions, to have more informed, more intelligent, opinions about world events. We are led by stupidity and ignorance of the facts. We just rally the troops in order to conduct, or at the very least fund, yet another war for Israel.
