It is a 1999 Honda Shadow ACE with a 750 cc motor. This is my first bike so I thought I get an old used Honda to learn how to ride. If I like riding, I will upgrade to an American Bike. I really like the Victory line by Polaris.
I get the bike delivered and within 2 minutes... I am on the ground with a dumped bike and a hole in my garage wall. I hurt all over.
I guess I let the clutch out too fast while putting it in 1st. This caused the bike to jerk and me to accidentally give it much more gas. Before I knew it I am heading into the garage and CRASH! Right into the wall.
I feel pretty stupid and I am very sore.
I got my neighbor to help me get the bike back up and It had fell on the carburetor side so gas soaked the carb and air filter. The bike would not start. I decided to let the bike set and try to start it again later so I went down to my office to work for a few hours while the bike sat in the sun.
While I was working, one of my biker friends stopped by to see if I got my motorcycle. I can't here the doorbell from my office so I did not know he was there.
He saw the bike and noticed the skid marks and the hole in my garage. He deducted what happened and through his cell phone let many of my other friends have a laugh. He then took the bike apart and cleaned out the plugs, air filter, and charged the battery. I noticed he was there when he started the bike.
He rode the bike and made sure it was safe then came back to show me some basics. Like putting it in first! He adjusted the clutch and said originally it was way too sensitive. The bad clutch adjustment greatly contributed to me smashing the bike in the first place.
I got back on the bike and started riding around my yard and learning to shift. I still need to buy a helmet, jacket, and boots plus get my bike license and plates. I also intend on taking the 2 day safety class. It will be while before I am on the road with it.
