If you see something more incredible this day, I would like to see it!

Joseph Kittinger was the first man in space, and the first man to break the sound barrier without a vehicle.

He was an expert at piloting high-altitude ballons. It would take many hours to climb upwards of twenty miles (102,000 ft.--commercial airliners travel at ~32,000 ft.). That high, Kittinger was in low-Earth orbit, enveloped in the blackness of space although it was daytime.

In this footage, you can see the beautiful blue haze cresting over the curvature of the Earth as Kittinger jumps, parachuting to re-entry on the surface after several minutes of free-fall.

Funny You mention extreme sports in combination with downhill.

I`m now 40. I have practiced all kinds of sports during my lifetime from soccer, and karate to sailing and soaring. Enjoyed them all. That was what it was all about. Now enter the fenomena of the `exterme`. First thing I`ve noticed about them, that they indeed are mostly downhill, or gasoline fuelled. Thus not much sweat is directly involved. Danger or perceived by the spectator danger yes, broken bones and destroyed expensive hardware check, oodles of screaming and high-fiving - ditto. They are mostly group events, preferably with a camera in the vicinity - thus mostly about vanity, self-expression, than the experience itself.

I mean I shit on extreme sports. It`s all in the realm of the jewdazed mememe `the real world` generation.

Sorry if I offend the yungens here...but that`s how I feel about it.

From the corruption of women, proceeds the confusion of races - from the confusion of races, the loss of memory - from the loss of memory, all understanding - and from this - all evil.

Nice video, most impressive, I'd never heard of the man or his feat.
Thanks for sharing.

On August 16, 1960 he jumped from the Excelsior III at 102,800 feet (31,300 m). He was in freefall for 4½ minutes and reached a maximum speed of 614 mph (988 km/h) before opening his parachute at 18,000 feet (5,500 m). Pressurization for his right glove malfunctioned during the ascent, causing his hand to swell. He set records for highest balloon ascent, highest parachute jump, longest freefall and fastest speed by a man through the atmosphere.

You make some good points, but don't be swayed by the jewed portrayal. "Extreme" sports (queer term if you ask me) is one of those unacceptable outlets of White Male masculinity, therefore those fellows must be portrayed as brainless fucksticks.
