Has anyones Government bringing up Human rights subject?

Ive notice this in Australia, talks on human rights in government house on television. As I saw it, the subject was brought up by a member of gov. Address to Tony Abbott.

Question: "why & there shouldn't be any children in detention centres"

Tony Abbott's response was: if you wish not to see children in detention centres, then We should be stoping the boats from leaving their home shores. The responses from Gov. House were some like "you're a racist".
