Watching Bill Maher suck some spic's burrito on HBO.
According to the mestizo, the United States is the second largest "Spanish" (if you can call it Spanish) speaking country after Mexico.
That's a lot of tacos.
Perhaps a point to use in discussions.

The average MUD in the US has the command of Castilan Spanish
equal to that of a 6 year old retarded child in Spain.

And what you two said is true: there's Castillian Spansih and that bastardization of it Mexicans speak. Dumbed-down beyond belief, doing what they had to do.
