Iowa Man Charged With Criminal Transmission Of H.I.V

It's happened again. There's a new case of a man accused of intentionally exposing others to HIV. This time, a father-in-law reported the man to police, making it the third case of intentional HIV exposure in three weeks.
Dewayne Boyd is behind bars charged with criminal transmission of HIV, the virus that causes AIDS. Authorities believe between August 1st and August 10th, the 31-year-old had sexual intercourse three times with one woman. But that's not the whole story. Investigators learned about the case through Boyd's father-in-law, who says his daughter suffers from the virus too.He's the man accused of intentionally exposing at least one woman to HIV. Michael Locascio says, "Take a good look at his picture, because this man is dangerous."
Michael Locascio is Dewayne Boyd's father-in-law. He says, "My daughter was diagnosed with HIV and it turned out that her present husband gave it to her. And he never notified her. He'd known about it since 1991 and they got married in November of last year."
Locascio says he found out that while his daughter was hospitalized in Iowa, suffering from the virus, Boyd was with another woman. And because 31-year-old Boyd is HIV positive Locascio told authorities right away. He says, "I went to the police department, notified them."

We now know more about the man accused of intentionally spreading H-I-V in Minnehaha county. 26 year old Sterling Davis Williams is accused of having sex with two women and not telling them he's infected with HIV. He spent some time in Huron before coming to Sioux Falls.
He's currently in the State Penitentiary on a parole violation out of Beadle County.
According to court papers, Williams was diagnosed with HIV in May of 2002. Something his friends and family knew little about.Williams is the first man accused of intentionally spreading HIV in Minnehaha County.
According to one of his victims, he lived ina brownhouse at the intersection of 10th and Menlo in Sioux Falls.

Vandervliet has since been tested for HIV, but doctors say it's still too early to tell if she's been infected. She'll have to be tested over the next seven years. As for Williams, he's expected to appear in court Monday afternoon.

I'll repeat that: the per capita number of new HIV infections among Blacks is between 25 and 26 times the number for Whites, indicating that the disparity between Blacks and Whites in the infection rate is increasing rapidly. While five years ago heterosexual Black males were 14 times more likely to be HIV carriers than Whites, the latest figures for new infections indicate that that ratio now is somewhere between 14 and 25: probably around 20.

Seven years ? Is it seven years too if someone has been involved in a fight with niggers and got some scratches ? I knew HIV was bad but I thought one or two tests would give a clear answer

Because early HIV infection often causes no symptoms, your health care provider usually can diagnose it by testing your blood for the presence of antibodies (disease-fighting proteins) to HIV. HIV antibodies generally do not reach noticeable levels in the blood for 1 to 3 months following infection. It may take the antibodies as long as 6 months to be produced in quantities large enough to show up in standard blood tests. Hence, to determine whether you have been recently infected (acute infection), your health care provider can screen you for the presence of HIV genetic material. Direct screening of HIV is extremely critical in order to prevent transmission of HIV from recently infected individuals.
If you have been exposed to the virus, you should get an HIV test as soon as you are likely to develop antibodies to the virus-within 6 weeks to 12 months after possible exposure to the virus. By getting tested early, if infected, you can discuss with your health care provider when you should start treatment to help your immune system combat HIV and help prevent the emergence of certain opportunistic infections (see section on treatment below). Early testing also alerts you to avoid high-risk behaviors that could spread the virus to others.

HIV/AIDS is a public(pubic) health hazard. Nationwide testing of all persons needs to be implemented, along with the quarantine of all infected persons at a remote and safe locale.

Vandervliet says, "I was just concerned because he told me he was from Huron and I asked him if he'd been with anybody in Huron and he said he hasn't and he did a bunch of tests in the prison and they all came up negative."
Vandervliet knows he's been with other women and now she's hoping they too will come forward.
She says, "There's more victims, I've talked to them. They're just afraid to come forward and they need to come forward."
For this woman, it's her worst nightmare come true. Intentional exposure to HIV infection is a felony and she hopes Williams will pay for the crime.
Vandervliet says, "Get justice, that's the main thing. He had no right going around doing it to girls without letting them know."
