Two arrested for alleged hate crime
Police: hate crimes are up by 10 percent in Suffolk County
(New York -WABC, June 23, 2006) - Two men from Suffolk County are
under arrest, accused of a vicious hate crime.
Investigators say the suspects, who are white, started a fight with a
group of young men and attacked one of them because he is black.
It happened yesterday morning in Centerport. Seventeen-year-old
Michael Post and 22-year-old Victor Valentino-Cox are now charged
with aggravated harrassment as a hate crime.
The 21-year-old victim says one of the men held him down while the
other kicked and punched him.
Police say hate crimes are up by 10-percent in Suffolk County.

Based on that picture I would say no, he's not white.

Here's another Long Island media 'goof':
Arrest made in hate crime in Bay Shore
Suffolk County Police Hate Crimes Detectives, in conjunction with Third Precinct Patrol Officers, have arrested and charged a 16-year-old male, Joshua Rivers, of 123 South Clinton Ave., Bay Shore, for menacing 2nd as a hate crime.
On September 25, Joshua Rivera confronted a group of youths and accused them of stealing bicycles. Angered at the thought that the youths had stolen bicycles, Rivera retreated to his house and brought out a loaded shotgun. He then pointed the gun at the youths and stated, "I’m going to shoot all you (racial epithets)."
When the police arrived at Rivera’s house he stated, "I thought the bicycle was stolen, so I bugged out." Rivera produced the loaded shotgun, along with another rifle and he was arrested for menacing 2nd as a hate crime.
Simple mistake or part of a bigger plan?
