Troops find safety in silly string. Really folks, you can't make this stuff up.

The Western democracy of today is the forerunner of Marxism which without it would not be thinkable. It provides this world plague with the culture in which its germs can spread.

Just a few blocks from the church, the garage attached to the Shrivers' two-story gray Colonial has quickly filled with aerosol cans of Silly String.

"The garage is packed to the gills. It's just unbelievable," said Smith, adding that her mother -- anxious about her son -- has realized another benefit from the project.

"It's definitely helping her keep her mind off the worry," Smith said.

Never underestimate the value of making the sheep feel they are doing something. During WWII they gathered frying pans and pots - to make guns of, people were told. Right. But a husband and wife who have lost half their kitchenware don't want to hear that it was all for nothing.

And stocking up on duct tape, that's the same as painting the lights on your car dark even though the Germans are on the other side of the Atlantic - it makes you feel like an attack could come at any time. Who needs reason and facts in that situation?

This is only the first phase

Pretty innovative, I must say. Too bad we can't send the resistance photoelectric and infrared triggers instead.

A clever resistance would arrange for the donation
of booby-trapped cans of Silly String. Tit for tat.

Real military training requires innovation to overcome adverse conditions.

Silly string to find booby traps?

and to think in VN that's what we thought captured Cong were for.

Just walk ten steps ahead Charley, and everything will work out just fine.....and it always did. :D

David H. Hackworth has observed that, "… almost sixty percent of U.S. casualties -- 240,000 soldiers -- came from mines and booby-traps…. They didn't always kill…, but they were always physical and psychological disablers…. The effect mines had on fighting spirit was devastating. Mines clobber morale because they are unseen, and there's no way to fight back."

Yes, all of those donated materials were hauled off to the garbage dump.

Obviously you've never had a blind date with Betty...'Bouncin' Betty'.

A fatal crowd pleaser up to 60 feet. Severe causalties to 300 feet. With Charlie as point man at 10 paces, your unit would have been transformed into an international fondue.
