Look how Akiane, 11 year old Aryan female child prodigy wastes her talent

I just dusted off my crystal ball and I predict that she will be an unknown in less than a few short years. While some may see something "prodigious" in her art, most child prodigies grow up to be normal, maladjusted adults, and their astounding achievements as a child fade into oblivion. Even the sixteen-year-olds with a doctorate.

If it weren't for me, where would I be?

Try reading Charles Bukowski's poetry. I can assure you that it is not crap.

Never heard of him, nor do I wish to. Poetry is pretentious bullshit.

Poetry, true poetry, is art in the medium of words. It doesn't pretend anything -- but reaches for condensed memorable truth.

No offense, guy...but your response sounds a little pretentious.

BTW - "Pretentious" means to claim undeserved importance or credit.

Indeed, all writing can be viewed as a poetic continuum. Aryans invented writing to preserve the spoken word. The spoken word is the symbolic depiction of thought and feeling. Thus, writing is the symbolic depiction of thought and feeling. The continuum of prose to poetry is an unbroken line moving from the imprecise and vapid to the precise and condensed symbolic depiction of thought and feeling. When you read the posting on VNN, you read posts situated at various points along that poetic continuum. Writing is an art form -- and the skill level of the artists varies. High skill in that art form is not pretentious unless it pretends to be something it isn't. High art not only conveys thought but creates it, stretches thought thought into not previously or otherwise thought thought.

"Pretentious" means pretending to be more than you are or to do more than you do. You are what you are. I am what I am. You convey your thoughts. I convey mine. You and I, guy, are always going to talk past each other. So be it. (Just get out there and fight the fight you're good at and you'll be okay by me. And I'll try to fight the fight I'm good at. Here's a case where diversity really is our strength.)

Burn her art. Dump her on the stud farm. Forget about her.

And yes, her art does look like flea market crap.

She has marvellous talent -- for her age. She just needs a different mother (and father).

Claiming or demanding a position of distinction or merit, especially when unjustified.
Making or marked by an extravagant outward show; ostentatious. See Synonyms at showy.

In any event, if poetry brings someone pleasure or a moment of introspection, enjoy. It's just not for me.

Exactly. Even ignoring the subject matter, this "art" is butt-ugly crap. I can remember cheezy slime bags coming around to office parks and trying to sell this kind of "art" out of the trunks of their cars.

My guess, she didn't even paint it, or possibly they got some out-of-work commercial artist to train the girl to turn out this stuff. Crap like this is cranked out by the truck loads for old ladies to buy.

Every once in a while some shyster tricks low-IQ fools into actually paying big bucks for this trash. Thomas Kinkade comes to mind, as forum member N. B. Forrest mentioned above.

Do you really think that my predictions are that far from the realm of possibility?

Sure, it is possible . However , you write as if it is as certain as death and taxes .

Where do you think I get my pessimism from?

Dunno, but whatever the source , you tell me so I can avoid it . :D

Sorry! I can't assume this. This whole thing has con game written all over it. I went to the web site. There is one page with 22 still photos of her painting. Looks like a set up. Either she doesn't paint the stuff, or as I wrote, they got some starving out-of-work commercial artist cheeze bag to train her to crank out this junk, and it is junk.

I have seen the paintings and sculptures of idiot-savants, some of whom were kids, and some of that art is absolutely beautiful in a nutty kind of way. But it is also different. These savants paint to a different drummer and none of their stuff looks like Holiday Inn, three for an hundred dollars Saturday art auction, which is exactly what her stuff looks like.

The subjects of her paintings are perfectly designed to appeal to old sentimental spinsters and tasteless hicks. This smacks of too well planned take advantage of the goobers and get ourselves rich.

You might want to think about changing your handle. Odin was himself, among other things, the god of poetry.
