I watched a bit of the Beck rally on the news and had to cringe when Sarah Palin had praise for Martin Luther King (although I understand the need to do that). Beck often excoriates Saul Alinsky but describes King as a being a hero. This is hypocritical on Beck’s part, as King had pretty much the same communist ideology as Alinsky. Unfortunately, for many conservatives King is one of the last sacred cows.

Before MLK and the civil rights movement freedom of association and personal property rights were cherished rights by Americans. The civil rights movement of the ‘60’s destroyed freedom of association and opened up all sorts of mischief by people looking to make a buck on frivolous lawsuits and trial lawyers. The parasites represented by Sharpton’s rally are going to hate (white) conservatives anyways so no amount of groveling to King is make a difference.

Conservatives need to affirm their disdain for Martin Luther King and make no apologies for it.
